SALT PEPPER GARLIC POWDER ONION POWDER VEG SEASONING PINCH SUGAR TO CUT THE ACID

The gum is juicy fruit! My favorite gum as a kid. I had a great childhood too Gina. Thank God because as I've gotten older I realize so many people weren't as blessed as we were(are).

Reminds me of what we do in Louisiana however, we do Smothered Okra and Tomatoes with Shrimp & Andouille Sausage over Rice. It’s sooo good and it’s one of those true stuck to your ribs, chilly night, home cooked meals you grow up on. 😊
My mama made this every now and then when we were children. She would also throw in lima beans, corn elbow mac noodles and cooked stew beef or oxtails to make what she called hobo soup 🍲 and cornbread on the side of soup bowl Thank you sweet Gina for sharing your recipe and bringing back a precious childhood memory to me.😌💕

Hey Miss Gina, I love okra and tomatoes, and I always add smoked sausage, chicken gizzards and shrimp. I was raised in New Orleans..lol. we ate with white rice also..Oh yes we loved liver and onions also..my kids are grown now..only one still likes the liver, my 35yr old and I make it for us. I love watching you..keep cooking 👍❤

My Father cooks stewed okra and tomatoes at least once a week and he also adds turkey sausage....with the rice. 1 pot meal all day. Love it Gina.

I have a way to help break the spell our people & culture has fallen victim too. Its called the "70's challenge"... We all dress up like the 70's, grow afros, take care of & respect each other. And only listen to music from that era. Pass this on. I think this is a game changer.
Great stories of the fond memories of your Grandma and Grandpa... Today I was just thinking of this recipe and decided to make it within the next week... my Grandmother also named Lucille would make her recipe using country ham or smoked ham hocks instead of bacon... she would also added cabbage and onion, no other seasoning except salt (if not using country ham) and black pepper... her recipe had more juice/liquid (we would also eat it as a soup if we wanted too)... we always ate it with white rice even with the soup... it was one of my family’s favorite Grandma recipes and we will often reminisce when together... Thank you for sharing your version of the recipe and your fond memories of your Grandparents... 🙏🏽❤️

Hi Gina I prepare this okra dish, but I add sausage. I never made it with bacon, but will try it. We also have it with white rice that I cook with some olive oil, fresh mashed garlic and chopped onion. Enjoy your cooking shows! Blessings

I love this dish and it’s been a family favorite for years. I use smoked sausage and shrimp along with the okra, stewed tomatoes and onions. I season with a Cajun seasoning and garlic powder and I also add Lipton onion soup mix and water because I like the consistency of soup. I will try it with sweet peppers and bacon to switch it up. It looks delicious! 😉

I can okra, corn and tomatoes from my garden. I can even use it in a vegetable soup. You can use frozen or canned corn.
