You can tell when Ryan makes a video about something he just experienced and is frustrated about
I mean that's most of his videos that aren't Pitch Meetings or First Guys.
Hey Wolfie, I’m your biggest fan! Please tell me when your next symphony comes out it’s been a while now since that Jupiter banger
Its probably why its so relatable and funny EDIT: Chopin is the GOAT.

I don't know what you're talking about, getting tickets is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Ryan: I'd like to buy a ticket, please
Ticketmaster: Actually, that is going to be super difficult and a real inconvenience.
O really
We need screen writer guy to buy us our tickets, but he'll charge a "Super easy, barely an inconvenience" fee.
Ticketmaster: I'm going to be super sleazy, rarely a convenience
Fortunately, Ticketmaster adds a convenience fee to offset some of the inconvenience.
*HI there hello, I'd like to buy a ticket please :)
Let's be real: The guy actually lucked out at the end when that last ticket was gone.
Wife bought tickets for us to see Ghost (her favorite band) at $150 per ticket, within 30 minutes that same row was priced at over $400 per ticket. It's insane.
But why should you pay 150$ for a rock/metal show. For the same amount of money you could buy festival tickets for festivals that take place three days or longer (at least in Europe).
People that are willing to pay these prices are the reason Ticketmaster can do what they do...
@@burningtheevidence8038 Not that I'd pay that kind of money for any single band myself, but it's not really that simple. With a festival comes accommodations, probably a much longer distance to travel, food costs, days off work, maybe getting someone to take care of kids and/or pets and so on.
@@burningtheevidence8038 really now, blaming the fans who just want to see the artist/s they like live, instead of the deeply corrupt system which allows this? what a reasonable person you are.
@@burningtheevidence8038 I don't live in Europe and travel to Europe is far far more expensive than the ticket
Ghost sucks and your wife is most likely obese.
In Norway, we illegalized reselling tickets for more than you originally bought them for. Fixed a LOT of issues.
usa is too stupid for that
That is a surprising normal way to deal with this that it makes me feel dumbfounded why it has not been done.
@@Fools_Blade
Because money. As Ryan would say.
@@Fools_Blade because this world is aggressively capitalistic
@@Fools_Blade You'd be surprised of surprisingly-normal ways there are to deal with problems - once you look outside the US - the only industrialized country where driving an ambulance is somehow more expensive than buying a gun and hijicking a car.
The disinterested arrogance of Ticketmaster was captured perfectly! And getting slapped over and over is pretty much how it feels to use Ticketmaster. Ryan doesn't miss
He doesn't even miss when hitting himself.
Ah a website/app? Thought like a literal person. I haven't been to a concert or sports match in years.
He always missn't
Getting tickets should be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I've never been to a concert so never bought tickets, so I can't relate at all and I am VERY confused XD
There’s a world tour going on by this artist I just have to see, this is the first time I’ve looked into concert tickets and these practices are insane, the timing on this video is INCREDIBLE
fun fact: with those prices it might be cheaper to see said artist in a venue in Europe and purchase the ticket through the appropriate store in the country of performance.
@@benzaiten933 I live in the Netherlands yet Ticketmaster’s still a big one over here, I guess mostly for reselling though, I’m not too well-versed on the topic lol
@@benzaiten933 stop saying "fun fact." It's the worst
I’ve seen The Weeknd in Leeds, UK 6 years ago for like £30. This year, the cheapest tickets were at £108 and they didn’t last long and what was left was resells at *£300* . I’m not going to any concert anytime soon.
No its statistics
I always loved that story that came out about how Ticket Master actually sold tickets to scalpers early on purpose. They make more money that way as it makes the show seem in demand, even if the actual event is mostly empty on the day of. The scalpers are the ones left hanging with unsold tickets.
Well, scalpers are part of the scum of society, so I won't say they don't deserve it, but there needs to be laws against willingly selling everything to scalpers
*Cough Cough ps5*
Assuming the scalpers aren't the ticket masters themselves. Why make more money when you can take all the money. Unsold ticket matters little when a fraction sold net more money than selling all the tickets on the listed price.
@@belldrop7365 Pretty much, if you sell every ticket for 2 or 3 times the normal price, failing to sell a few doesn't really matter. I've had friends do something similar with video games when they worked at game stop. Day one release of a new game or console they'd buy out the stock and resell it online. I used to work for Ticketmaster and I can confirm, they have a whole division dedicated to slapping customers. Which was extra weird to me because I sold tickets over the phone.
I watched enough Dastardly and Muttley cartoons as a child to know that slapping someone throught the phone is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
@@epiendless1128 I'm just barely audibly laughing at that. Mutley-like.
😂😂😂😂
I remember trying to buy tickets over the phone once, I had to slap myself several times to complete the sale. I had to record it and send it to the agent and I had to let it bruise and show it to the agents as well to make sure it was legit.
Tickets were gone by the time I completed that step :(
Buying tickets over the phone? Hahahahaha you can't do that anymore.
This is literally the most accurate explanation of Ticketmaster. I paid $300 a piece for two tickets to see Gabrielle Iglesias. The seats were literally folded seats behind a column. They called that "the handicap section."
Man, that is so effed up on levels
You literally wasted all that money on a scam, came home frustated and unsatisfied.
Instead you could have taken her to a nice movie, then dinner, bought gifts for each other. And yet you were $300 in your pocket.
Best is you would have had a great time, felt happier.
As in, if you weren't handicapped before, you will be after sitting in these seats for a couple hours.
I guess they were hoping blind people bought those tickets.
Dumbass
This is a really important and accurate documentary exposing Ticketmaster's anti-consumer practices.
Yeah man. That’s the whole joke
Can we just talk about how on point it is that the sponsor for a video about dealing with Ticketmaster is a therapist.
Ah yes; spend more money on your 'therapist' since you couldn't spend money on your tickets. Consoomerism is truly la disease. The modern mindset of "I must consoom moar!" is truly both pathetic and an epidemic of epic proportions. But don't worry! You can see your therapist for that! CONSOOM CONSOOM CONSOOM
Mental health is important, not just a scheme to get money. While I do agree that consumerism is harmful, there are some things that are worth spending money on. Mental health is one of those
I want better than better help.
Having to take a for-profit healthcare business’ money in order to pay for art that is a scathing indictment of the perils of unfettered capitalism has to feel like an extra bonus slap for Ryan 😂

Some of my best memories growing up were going to see concerts with friends but there is no way in hell I'm paying to see a concert these days. I have a decent job, I can afford it, I just think it's disgusting and could never bring myself to pay those prices. Who knew I'd reach 'old person yelling at cloud' levels by my early 30s.
I'm 33 and with yah
I used to go to concerts all the time when I was younger. My children have never been to a live concert that wasn't a free one at some venue like a park or something.
You can still find good prices. I just found Offspring, Sum 41, and Simple Plan for about $30 in Atlanta
We're not yelling at the cloud, we're in the cloud.
I'm in my early 30s as well and on disability benefits. I spent like $300 to see The Cure earlier this year. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. Saw them one other time 16 years ago, they probably won't be around in another 16. I'm all for sticking it to evil corporations, but the music and the experiences are way more important to me.

I've never been more grateful that most the bands I have interest in seeing live only costs $15-$30 in clubs or smaller venues that usually don't sell out. I haven't had to use Ticketmaster in years just by luck, but I see the torment a family member goes through trying to get a Taylor Swift ticket..
And things like a 'print at home' fee? Wtf? That's like paying Dominoes a delivery fee when I went to pick it up myself.
Same. I refuse to overpay and I damn sure won't overpay with Ticketmaster. No show is worth getting ripped off. But idiots will burn money to see some pop star ffs. Music is mostly DEAD at the Ticketmaster level IMHO, I hate most music on the radio anyway. The good music isn't at a Ticketmaster venue and hasn't been for awhile

A couple years back I heard Rammstein, one of my favourite bands, were doing a show in my hometown of Munich at the Olympic Stadium. I waited online for the sale to start and got kicked out several times. Never saw my ticket, nor did my friends. However we just hung out at the Olympic Park on a hill where you can look inside the stadium. There were like thousands of people with us. We could see and hear see everything. A Ticketmaster sketch with a Betterhelp ad. There's a marriage built in hell.
100% people don't realize how accurate this is! Can't go to any shows anymore
The state of ticketmaster today makes me happy I'm a metal fan. I've never had to worry about buying tickets, half the time we can just buy them at the door the night of.
So glad my social anxiety disinclines me to go to concerts. Something I won’t be needing Betterhelp for!
Hello. I am better better help.
What is your favorite genre of music? My default suggestion is to watch the 1969 Woodstock performance of Santana playing the song "Soul Sacrifice".(because that is what I am foing to choose to watch right now)
Peace. Address all music queries in your response. I am not chatGPT.
I first read that as "disciplined" and I was so confused haha. I also have social anxiety that makes concert-going a challenge.
This goes for a lot more than just tickets sadly. Bots are just everywhere as soon as new popular items get released and the companies don’t give a shit because they’re still making money. Every time we think we’re creating something to make certain things easier we just make it 10 times harder instead lol
In case anyone is doubting the accuracy of this portrayal, I recommend checking John Oliver's spotlight on Ticketmaster that was released in one of his ninth season episodes. If anything, the reality is actually worse.
Beautifully written
The fact that I loathe Ticketmaster to the core of my very soul yet still managed to laugh through the pain really shows how stupidly good Ryan is at what he does.
...I hope you managed to see whatever show you were trying to catch in the end, man. Without having to sell a couple of organs, that is.
Trying to buy eras tour tickets is a literal nightmare
Taylor is a material gurl
@@wandaslover13 Which isn't really related. Her prices were pretty reasonably if not for Ticketmaster & resellers.
@@hamderv8410 I mean her prices are reasonable on how big is a singer she is and how good she is but they are still expensive. And where I live, I can basically just not go to her concert.
@@hamderv8410 Counterpoint, have you seen how livid people become when they can't resell, or even gift, their tickets because a venue forces it to be the ID of the purchaser?
So super difficult, very much an inconvenience?
The ticket scalping issue seems simple, the name that bought the tickets has to be present and show ID that matches the name on it. That way a scalper can't just buy them all
The Takeaway: STOP BUYING any kind of tickets from ticketmaster! You can also write lawmakers (or sign the petitions that are everywhere) and DEMAND they enact legislation to punish bad-faith ticketing -- or better yet, demand they BUST up the ticketmaster monopoly.
I wish I could like this a million times. Ryan pretty much always puts out bangers, but this was straight gold. 10/10. Even the ad was one of the best.
That's one of the amazing things about Ryan: he manages to make even the ads fun. (Though, obviously: always always always do your own research)
I wanted to see a metal band at a small local venue, just last year they stopped selling tickets through their own site to sell through ticketmaster. It's all just one section standing room only and tickets were at most $25 for like the big acts. Now they are $150.
Damn. That's just ridiculous. I thought the more alternative/"undergroundy" stuff would be immune to the Ticketmaster tyranny, but I guess I should be happy I live in a country where they don't have that strong of a position.
@@perlundgren7797from what I understand ticketmaster controls all the major venues too. So once you reach a certain level of fame you're kind of screwed.
If I remember correctly they have to go thru ticketmaster. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to play at that venue. It's real bull crap and (I think) is illegal, in the US at least.
Oh buying concert tickets in 2023 is tight!😂😂😂
Everybody loves ticketmaster. And being Slapped!
The slap in the face is PERFECT.
