One of the best Actor/Directors (currently working as both at the same time) ever.
Underrated actor too, I’ve noticed he is amazing at conveying that intensity when it comes to sudden heartbreak

He's got an incredible charisma on screen for sure. There aren't many like him.

I have always felt that Mel Gibson was and is one of the great directors of our life time.
You are not only right on target with your comments on Mel Gibson but you did it with passion.

I feel like Gibson, more than any other noteworthy filmmaker, is the hardest to separate the “art from the artist”, as some would say. I mean all the “issues” (arguably) with his films aren’t really issues with the film, but issues with Mel. So if you don’t agree with his takes (and most of the people who decide whether a film is or not don’t), it’s pretty hard to sit down and watch one of his movies, when they are so deeply baked into their very DNA. It also doesn’t help that Gibson doesn’t exactly react the most tamely when faced with such criticism. But to be completely honest with you, I think the latter will go away in a few decades, as the awareness of Gibson’s work inevitably retains better then the cloud of real-life antics around them, (as so frequently happens through the process of society forgetting and rediscovering things), and perhaps our collective view on his body of work will change.

I couldn't agree more. I'm convinced over time his films are going to be rediscovered for what they are rather than for who he is.

Thank you for recognizing Mel's brilliance, AND Hollywood's hypocrisy. Just sharing that opinion takes..."seeds"

Haha yeah Hollywood isn't exactly in a position to lecture anyone if we're being honest. Thanks for your comment and kind words.

He's a better director than an actor and a person

I agree that he's a better director than actor. I think his range is pretty limited, though he's very good at certain kinds of roles.
