I understand your frustration. When I eat kids candy, I throw out evidence and think my parts boxes are a good place to hide them but then you just end up dealing with it twice. Ugh, so frustrating!!!! 😅
It’s been good up to this point. Hopefully my situation is just a fluke. I’m sure they will do all they can to make it work. I just hope it doesn’t take several more weeks.
I’m about to order one from them for my truck . Watching this makes me nervous and for the amount of money that will be spent it really freaks me out .
@@BillyFargon - ordered a shifter but it’s not going to work. Parameters are; shifter must come up through the stock location through the floor and OEM console. The TKX is replacing a T5 which required a custom X-member and clocked 6 deg (top towards driver). I can't believe there was no preload info with this!!! I almost seems as if the race needs to be deeper in the new part.....hope you get it solved soon!!!
They called me today and the race depth is definitely the problem. I got something to try when I get home from work so I’m hoping that wraps up this issue :)
I can understand the frustration, I'm sure you spent a lot on that whole deal.. then it not work like it should, I'd be pissed. These companies need to get their act together if they want us to spend our $$ with them.
I’m frustrated but it’s also because of supply issues that I got a part on there that is not normal. It’s all in the work on getting taken care of so we will see :/
that freaken sucks bro!! it will be a beast once you finally get the right pieces!! the PRIUS thing please don't for the love of god!!!😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣watching from the red state of missouri!! LGB!!
Sorry you have to go thru this. Sucks that happened. I know I will get it working just fine tho. They need to compensate you in some way or give you a partial refund. I’d ask if I was dealing with this.
I’m not worry about being compensated I just want to working properly and perfect when it goes into car so I don’t have to worry about it in the future!
@@BillyFargon Understandable. I would as well. I was just coming from a place where now you are doing their job. I understand mistakes happen, but as long as you are happy and completely satisfied with the end result is all that matters.
@@BillyFargon I hope they take care of you. I know alot of us are watching this series closely to see what obstacles are involved. Sad if its the part supplier themselves.
There are spacers available to move the Bellhousing away ("back") from the engine, as well as spacers to mover the Transmission away ("back") from the Bellhousing. Using one spacer or the other should (in theory) solve your problem.

The bearing issue did suck for sure but they went out of their way to get it fixed quickly and were very helpful to the point of answering questions after hours and on personal time. I understand this stuff happens and it’s how they respond when it does and their response was on point. This supply issue crap is causing problems for everyone :/
You do realize the problem with you only getting one day to install that? It makes you screw things up when you're under a Time limit. Usually they only give a customer a day like that because they think he's going to steal the other throw out bearing. Not everybody is a thief. Thanks for nothing American power train.
I get what you are saying. In this case I take some blame as I didn’t know what I was doing in the fact that I should have kept the trans horizontal. It would have been helpful though if they would have told me as well. I think for someone knowing what to do it would have been a few minute fix. It was Silversport transmission and they have been great to deal with the whole way through. Crap happens and things go wrong.. more often than not! All part of the game I guess.
@@BillyFargon still not your fault. I bought a tkx from Forte's part's connection in Framingham Mass ,and the instructions where right on the top on the transmission when I opened the box.front page it says while unlikely the transmission might be stuck between gears if the transmission was placed on end during shipment. In bold letters it says, Before installing the transmission into the vehicle make sure the transmission turns freely. Simply turn the input shaft by hand and attempt to shift the transmission into each gear. If you are unable to turn, or shift the transmission, please contact the distributor where you purchased your transmission for further instructions. Did you have that instruction paper with your transmission?

I went with the tko600 5 speed swap and I got mine from them for my nova. Great customer service and it couldn’t have gone any smoother.

I just bought an entire tkx install kit from American powertrain for my Squarebody. Hopefully it goes well
You’ll be fine :) mine was purchased during supply chain issue time and then what happened to it was kind of a fluke. It should go great!
I’ve had alot of the same problems with my ls and T5 setup stay consistent DONT give up it will be nice when done
Glad to hear I’m not alone :)
I only use Permatex 2 on bolts that go into coolant and oil passages. It never dries which is what you want.
Damn that sucks! Hope everything goes smoothly after!
Me too! I wasn’t going to post but I guess it’s ok to show when stuff doesn’t go your way too other than just the wins.
I’m about to order one from them for my truck . Watching this makes me nervous and for the amount of money that will be spent it really freaks me out .
I ordered mine during covid when supplies sucked. I would think if you ordered now it would be fine. I think my issues were a fluke
I’m on month 4 on my T56 magnum Tremec swap kit for my sons 2017 mustang gt was suppose to take a weekend.
Did you have to modify the tunnel? If that were the case I would have taken way longer too!!
Hey man hows the build? what bearing kit was this? Do you remember?
I feel your frustration, currently fitting a TKX into my 66 mustang Betsy. Hope your shifter is easier than mine. 🤓
Oh no, what’s going on with yours? Do you have a custom shifter to meet a factory location for the mustang?

That sounds like a total pain!
Can’t wait to see stick shift placement once it’s in…was thinking magnum XL for my70’
Initial rough measurements put it about the same as my auto shifter was but we will see!

What a bummer. You'll get it straightened out. All parts of hot rodding, at least that's what they tell me when I'm scratching my head like you are...
You’re right, it will get fixed and it’s not any surprise. Gotta show the fails with the wins. Otherwise par for the course for building this junk :)

It will get worked out. It’s these shortages that I blame not silversport transmission. They are doing what’s needed to make it all good.
I'm having the exact opposite I have taken all the shims out and still can't get the clearance
On the throw out bearing?
What was the McLeod part number of the correct throwout bearing?
It’s not a McLeod bearing that ended up being the correct one. It’s one that silversport supplies and I can’t find it on their website :(
@@BillyFargon Thank you for the rely and info.
sorry your going through this. the supply chain is so goofed up.
That was the wait for the trans at the beginning but everything after was not supply problems. It will get figured out eventually.

This setup has been done a bunch and shouldn’t require all the extra spacers. It’s all getting worked out now with the proper parts :)
I am currently dealing with the exact problem... Did you get this resolved? I'm about to burn my car to the ground. I'm over it.
With the bearing? They finally sent me the correct bearing that should have come with the kit that was out of stock when I ordered..
I guarantee you they knew it was the wrong bearing they just wanted to sell you the kit and then they pop that one in. Scumbag move
Oh....that sucks! Come on, not e freaking Prius :-) It will be back together before the next season sart.
