“we patronize the client by talking to them about the process and they don’t care about that at all.” Mind blown. 🤯 This gem is going to cut the length of my meetings and phone calls in half!
I've been doing freelance since I was 17 (now I'm 22) but I quickly felt burned out because of how the clients were so demanding. I've been making excuses to stop doing freelance for 2 years now and I really miss working. I came to browse your channel accidentally and fell in love with design all over again (been watching non-stop for around 3 days already). Thanks for fueling my desire of working again Chris :) I hope I can see you in the future when I finish university in Kansas and come back to California. Cheers!
Very enlightening and good repetition from you. I tried it last week. And it worked. Where can I get a template or sample for the: PRICE, TIMELINE, SCOPE & FIT proposal?
@@hhaydenshea Thanks. I'm good with sales calls but on the day I posted this comment, I was meeting a corporate client and was introducing a new £50k offer. This video helped me to talk about money early and anchor my pricing. Also reminded me, I wasn't selling to them. They approached me and wanted what I had to offer which allowed me to quickly reposition myself.
Love this video. The value of the videos that Chris puts out is mind-blowing. Quick edit, I noticed a type in the animation for Diagnose, Not Prescribe. I think the text (which has a strikethrough) is incorrectly spelled as "Perscribe"
This is an amazing video - so informative. Question: if you aren't showing your process, how do you know if you're a good fit for the way you work with clients? Thanks!
@@thefuturSeriously, I really love this channel. I'm super happy I stumbled across it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I am learning a great deal. THANK YOU!
I literally took on a shitty contract w a company because I like the people I work with. And they were so hype when they offered it. I'm ashamed to say, but it just shows how important rapport is
I feel like I suck at sales and quoting. I think I am only maintaining my clients through my final results / presented work. The advice I get from TF is golden but I still manage to fumble the execution when it’s go time.
that's not really what opportunity cost means. when you do something, you can do something else. that's opportunity cost. not doing something that you didn't have isn't the same thing. I think.
1:57 I never "perscribe" anything :D 4 - 5 especially resonated with me and had some great actionable advice; loved the rankings of the types of questions and the idea of removing yourself 3 times from the sales call. The latter one especially echoes some of what Jonathan Stark was saying in a previous episode. I have question about 2 though, is it always a good idea to mirror someone exactly? Or are there certain "types" that are either safe or would do better in certain situations?
Totally followed these 5 tips, and was so excited how well the call went, that I completely failed on getting any kind of a letter (email) of intent. We're supposed to talk again this week and I'm supposed to share ideas...but I'm nervous to do so without having any kind of a signed agreement. I don't want them to take my ideas and just go to someone else. What's the best way to recover from this? Is it something as simple as...hey...before I share my ideas with you, let's get something signed?

keep practicing. you'll get there. and don't be too hard on yourself if you screw up.
Great video! But what's "the scope" at 3:03 ?
Thank you
You can't lose something you don't have, but there is a thing called opportunity cost. Balance platitude with pragmatics.

bom!
3:15 - REMOVE YOURSELF 😶🌫️
So what should you discuss first on a sales call, talk about money or Diagnose first?
Hey! in the first place itself, we talk about money, don't you think that client may get negative opinion that
these guys thinks only about money, than work
you can talk about money later if that's more your speed. you may only find out later that they can't afford you and you've wasted both of your time.
