Sleep, sunshine, proper nutrition, and exercise-that's a few I heard them use at a SDA facility years ago.

This information is extremely helpful and the tips usable; however, the large majority of individuals can’t access the lifesaving, research-based program that Nedley offers which identifies and targets the root of one’s mental health struggle. The program is incredibly expensive and many individuals struggling with mental illness or substance use aren’t candidates for various reasons. I’d love to see the SDA church target mental health as a whole and make this assessment and treatment program accessible for all who are committed to improving their mental health 🙏💖.
Thank you IIW for educating on mental heath!

Laughter works fantastically. Last Fall lost the sight in my left eye. And the right eye is fuzzy. Weekly change the Hummers feeder. Finally, in 2024, learned how to pour water into another receptacle without flooding the counter. But, not until the end of May, I finally figured out how to pour the water into the glass measuring cup and succeed getting the water exactly at the one cup measuring line without blinking one eye. All that time kept trying. But, I am a lefty. One day prayed "Help ". Then it dawned on me, I only have one eye. Don't need to close one eye. (Was in a funk, didn't want to read the Bible, in March left eye removed, just sitting, etc). I laughed so hard and so long. Getting back on track. Laughter is good.

As a Christian nurse who worked in Behavioral/Mental Health for 25 years, Christ heals mental and emotional dysfunction because these conditions interfere with our salvation. Surrendering oneself to God, praying, and studying the Scriptures is our active part in the Plan of Redemption. We must have a faith-based relationship with Christ. The Scriptures reveal that Jesus will heal every mental diagnosis and trauma because that is who He is. It is our faith that determines whether or not we are healed. Do you believe that Jesus can heal you? Then pray in faith. Study the Bible every day. Humans cannot heal! Therapeutic interventions are secondary to the power of God.

Getting out of the Adventist Church was my solution for getting off drugs for depression. The condemnation I felt as an SDA was overwhelming and now that I have a positive relationship with Jesus, depression disappeared. Take a poll. If SDA’s were honest, many are depressed because they cannot live up to what they think is the only way to be a Christian…be perfect. After all, isn’t this what Ellen White said … we must be perfect to be saved. Thank God I found the truth, even in my old age and I feel free for the first time in my life.
