The last composition took “en passant is forced” to a whole new level.
this comment is the only reason i was able to find the mate lmao, thanks
All hail Anarchy Chess!
@@eddiegness holy hell
The only way to stap mate is to en passant TF
The crazy thing is I actually found the en passant thing, but I put the pawn on F2 instead of H2 so the en passant ended up being check, and thus not mate in 2 and I'm so sad
I only solved puzzle 4, I remember Levi talking about forcing moves and there is nothing more forcing than giving your opponent a change to play an passant
ENT CROISANT!!!!!
I think you mean en peasant
hahaha
Hahaha sorry I mean en passant ofcourse, autocorrect 😅
A true r/anarchychess member
The funny thing about the 4th puzzle is that if the pawn had already been on the board it's actually a fairly simple mate to find, but having to construct the mating setup yourself makes everything more difficult. Goes to show how hard it must be to create these compositions in the first place

Hi Gotham. I am a big fan of yours. I am just 14 years old and you've brought me from 1500 to 1900. Today afternoon, I hit my peak and got to 1907. Thank you so much for all the teaching that you have done to us. You are an absolutely wonderful teacher. May god bless you with peace and prosperities. As always this is a wonderful video. All the best for your future.

What's your elo today?
Gotham: checkmate in 24 moves.
me: trying to survive 24 moves in normal games.
Nice one
Your chess speaks for itself.
Would love to see more chess compositions. There's a whole world out there but hardly anyone features them. Thanks for this.
Chess Vibes has many videos with puzzles like this one
The main English-language database is Yet Another Chess Problem Database; I believe the largest overall is the German Dieschwalbe.
@@molobog Chess vibes is awesome. Great channel.
What sucks is the fact that videos like this will often get like a third of the views that the drama videos get.
That's just cap. There's plenty of channels that cover these sorts of puzzles and compositions, especially chess vibes.
these puzzles are so insane that when you recap and show the start i am surprised that that puzzle with those tricks is not a different puzzle because usually puzzles are saved in my brain as the tricks they represent
Gotham, this is easily one of my favorite videos of yours, along with your Puzzles climb to 3200. More of this content would be an absolute joy.
Whole video shouldve been the Hans Niemann situation cause how tf do you solve that
That’s actually funny lol

Ohh it actually speaks for me.
I’ve been thinking lately it would be awesome to see a new series like “guess the eval”. Like guess the elo, but various positions are shown, the stockfish eval covered up, positional considerations are discussed, and then the eval is revealed. I think it could tremendously informative and also an interesting way to discuss some of the more nuanced concepts. For instance you could even demonstrate the importance of specific pieces and their positions on the board by comparing the evals of the same board but with one piece changed/moved. Please consider it! Keep up the good work!
Levy already made that: ruclips.net/video/1QRGtoc4aXk/видео.html
@@the_listamin Sick!! I missed that. Thanks for sending 👍🏻
Anna Cramling and Hikaru have done this. Its maybe less interesting than you would think.
@@alexkuron5069 Thanks I’ll check it out!
ruclips.net/video/1QRGtoc4aXk/видео.html u good?
Levy please do more of this content. It is so fascinating how these compositions were made!!!!!
This should definitely be a series; loved this
You have been so much on point with these videos recently, just perfectly hitting the mark. Thank you so much Mr. Gotham
Definitely. I played chess back during the first lockdown a lot, and I'm excited for it again.

"Oh my goodness! Sorry, I'm allergic to pawn promotions"
- Levy Rozman, 2022
(10:45)
The comedic timing on that joke was top notch! Made me lol
This was a great vid! Would appreciate more puzzle content like this from you
I saw the rook sac in the second puzzle, but I would have never guessed that sacrificing the queen as well was the solution!
I legitimately got so mad at myself with that en passant one holy crap that is pure genius. Thanks Levy for making such interesting videos.
Wouldn't pawn on d7 work or what🤔🤔
@@maximuslord5934 it will stalemate
@@maximuslord5934 nah. That was my first thought as well (make Queen on d8) but it stalemates because black has no legal moves.
i almost got it i had pawn h3 and Be8 which was a similar idea but
Really great video, I love puzzles! Wouldn't mind a whole series ;)
I wish I was lying when I say I saw knight e1 right before you showed it. I wqas thinking "how do I stop the queen from going behind my king" and I realized the knight blocks. Clever puzzle
I love this concept! I would really enjoy more videos like this, where one can “play along”
Huge fun! Thanks. Definitely do more of these.
Could you perhaps do some sort of video on the Budapest Gambit? The videos currently on RUclips shows only a few traps. Love your videos mate, keep it up!
the last puzzle was my favorite . allowing the player to decide where their final piece is placed to start is brilliant. i had thought about placing the pawn there but.my.mond was jumping around with all of those potential places that you want that pawn in a normal game
I'm glad you're bringing back the puzzle videos. I really liked the ones where you and some player of a different level try to solve the same puzzles
Everyone be careful
This man isn't levy rozman. It's a fake account
Wow this was a great video love the creativity it seems like the old Gotham is back
thanks for all the great content you put out- the instructional and the hilariously bad both make for a good time and have helped me become a otb tournament player. much love gotham 💜
Love these! I love chess puzzles (almost as much as I love playing chess itself). I'm rather proud that I got both the 2nd and last puzzle... last one was even kinda easy as there's only three options. Second one was more difficult, but once I realized we had to stop the queen from being able to check the king it had to be some maneuver to block it and the rook sac was the only possibility.
attempted all of these and failed all of them but was so close on two of them!!!! i put the pon on h2 in the last puzzle but only moved it to h3 and didnt even think the king could move to g5 still. totally forgot about en passant. Amazing video! please make more of these!
"Im alergic to pawn promotions" 🤣
Levy: And now our knight is hanging.
The bishop on d1: 💀
All jokes aside, fun seeing you doing puzzles. It was deffinitely enjoyable, would love to see more!
I believe my I also said that on my other channel 😉
At the 4 th puzzle it also works to place the pawn on f4 and play rook g1 black will push the g pawn and after that rook h1 is mate
Man, make this a series! I loved this episode, Levy 🔥😎❤️
Again another great timeless video Gotham. Thanks for being so captivating and spectacular at covering chess!
This man is using levy rozman identity to scam and still money
Great puzzles, I loved them even though I couldn’t do most until I got the first move or multiple
But I’d seen a few multiple times like the first one
Awesome stuff! Keep these puzzles coming! Thanks for the great content.
def need more of this
Please make more chess compositions🌟
I'm 1400 and actually happy I was able to solve the last one without help :)
The best chess video I have seen in a long time
i was able to as a 300

Omg, levy you should really make more of this!
Wow I've seen so many of your videos but this one was truly something. Thanks for these.

And Stockfish was used to prove that it is a forced mate in at most 32 moves (it's in the Wikipedia article)
What is Crystal?
@@HawksVR An engine based on Stockfish
@@-zelda- thank you!
I confidently "solved" the 3rd puzzle only to see a knight promotion ruining my plans. Crazy puzzle
i actually know a puzzle similar to the last one, except the twist is you have to realize that blacks last move was a pawn push, so you could do en pessant and it was mate in 2 through that move
I hope you bring out more puzzle videos in the future, this is amazing 😍
I need a „But that doesn‘t do anything? OH BUT IT DOES“-Button in my life.
Спасибо за видос, Леви!
*Levy
In the 2nd puzzle, that tactic with Qg5, blocking the check and sacrificing the white queen to deflect the black queen off the light squares and prevent further checks, has a specific name I'm trying to remember. I think it's called a Novotny Theme or something like that. Definitely one of the coolest tactical ideas in chess, right up there with the super rare plachutta! (A term I only know b/c Agadmator did a video on it once lol)
I've also see puzzle 3 before on Agadmator's channel. I remembered that the overall idea was to force the black king to h5 and deliver mate with just king bishop and pawn, and I remembered that the first move was Nf6+ but wayyy beyond my ability to figure the rest out, obviously. As I recall from Agad's video, the puzzle was presented to a bunch of top GMs at some tournament in the 80s. They would all try to solve it in between rounds with no success until good old Mikhail Tal decided to step away from the board and go for a walk during which that crazy brain of his figured it all out and he came back and showed everyone the solution. Crazy!
Since you didnt specify for the last puzzle we needed to start by moving the new pawn, placing the pawn on f4 or h4 and moving the bishop to break the pin also works (moving the bishop back next move will be checkmate)

The puzzle speaks for itself

This video was so satisfying to watch with some of these puzzles XD where can I see more of these extreme puzzle variation
Yes please more puzzle content it's my favorite kind of chess entertainment and your personality goes great with the excitement of the moves!
A lot of people would still give the 'best puzzle' title to Leonid Yarosh's first Babson Task in 1983. Problems like these don't even come.
OMG this video is absolutely amazing! i'd love to watch you solve more insane puzzles!
got all of them besides puzzle 3 that was insane... knew the last one had to be an enpasaant thing I've seen many puzzles like it
Awesome video. You should do a video on hardest mate in 1 puzzles. There are some crazy ones.
please bring part 2 fast it was really fun to solve.
i got kinda close on the last one bro i just messed up pawn placement on h4 in stead of h2 amazing stuff would like more of this
Great video, Levy! Would like to see more of these.
Loved the video, thanks for making it.
I only got the last one, but I didn't think h4; I figured for h3, it accomplishes the same thing since the pawn capture is still the only legal move.
bro the way you talk even if someone who never played a chess game before in their life will be hooked into it.. you a got a very nice way of building things up
thank you for the amazing content so regularly gotham! keep up the great work !
OMG please more of this, this was such a fun video!!! These were so amazing and I want to see more!!
In the last one I got pretty close by immediately recognizing that its one of those restrict the kings movement with the pawn. I even got to the point where I realized I would need to move the pawn in my next move but I never got to the enpassent. I was stuck on the F file.
I absolutely loved these! solved 2 and was so close in the last two! I missed the checkmate with the bishop tho XD
Would love to see more!
Im always looking forward to watching those kinds of videos, waiting for more of those ✌️
Enjoyed a lot levy .. looking forward to more of these 😍
Once you said the last one has to be a restricting move, I was able to get that one before you said anything about who needs to move. I missed that quiet Bd5 in the previous puzzle. The second puzzle I didn't get at all and the first one I didn't see to the end but would've gotten just making forcing moves
The second puzzle is also forced mate in 25 moves, Stockfish says
This was an exciting video would love to see more Hope this becomes a series
I absolutely LOVE puzzles, I really like this content, I hope it does well so you can bring more of this
Yes make more, love the puzzles!
These were utterly amazing, especially that first one. I brought up lichess to play against the computer and playing every check in a row and slowly seeing that mate in N ticking down #20, #19, #18, that was awesome. Wonderful video!
Amazing stuff! I have seen the third position before, so could solve now, but the other three were new to me. The checkmate in 25... I figured out the first 5 moves, would have made a mistake in the walks :)
That 3rd one, is that the one that only the Magician could solve after he took a smoke break?
I enjoyed this, please make more. 😂 I love puzzles, chess compositions are definitely next level.
need more of these for sure !!!
Loved this. Hope to see more of these. 👍
In 4th puzzle you can also put pawn on f4 or h4, next unpin black pawn with a bishop, lets say move bishop to b2, so black has to go g5, and then bf7#
This could potentially be a new series that I would end up binge watching while compromising on sleep. Puzzles are always amazing! Looking forward for more!
On the last one i totally missed that the g4 pawn could move with en passant. I kept thinking only about moving the rook to free up space for the pawn to move haha nice one
Puzzle 4 is amazing! I thought putting a pawn to f4 and Be6 win cuz i thought only legal move for black is g5. I can't believe that I just missed the simple pawn takes knight LOL
by the way at puzzle 4 if you put a pawn at f4 and then move your bishop to any square except e8, they have to go g5 and bishop back to f7 is also mate
Yeeeeeesss!!! Fantastic!!! Please make more of these!!! Super thanks!
You should definitely make more videos about these! And also others! There are all sorts of retrograde analysis game, shortest sequence to reach a position, and others that are soooo cool!!! :D
I LOVE THIS! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS!!!!
Love the king bishop pawn mate...and those three pieces usually have a hard time winning....
My favorite odd puzzle is the mate in one where you have to promote a pawn to a knight… a knight of the opposite color. The FIFE rules have since been changed so that you must promote to a piece of your own color.
I loved the 2 puzzle. It just took my heart out. Btw loved your videos always
Hi, you should make more content like that, with puzzles or brilliant computer play, because there exist such wild positions in which the winning moves are absolutely unbelievable and u taking us through such is always very enjoyable. Cheers.
Great Video Love this kind of content Good job Levy
In the fourth puzzle what about putting the pawn on h4 and moving the bishop to d5
It will also lead to checkmate on next move as only legal move will be g5 and bf7 will be mate
This was a lot of fun. I'd like to see more puzzles in the future. Could be cool to solve some live as well.
