An 11-year-old boy from central China’s Henan province had to gain 18kg in just three months in order to save his sick father. Lu Zikuan’s dad needed a bone marrow transplant to treat a type of blood cancer, and the boy was a match - but he didn’t weigh enough.

Considering his age he may not have understood the danger he was putting himself in, but nonetheless a very brave young lad💪
Marcus Nordahl , I think he did tho , I’m 11 right now and I understand the danger that this surgery could have brought and I think he is very brave and kindhearted to even do this. Of course if my family member had a problem I would help them but I would be terrified .
@@tnkbale1 Yes but he's different nonetheless he's very brave of stepping inside something new and possibly dangerous just to save his dad
Actually there's a lot of people like that in East Asia it's our culture we are taught to always serve and be polite to the elders
Let's be honest, this was recommended to me on Father's Day. Best recommendation by RUclips. The love that a child can show their father, ❤

He could've eaten himself to death by accident, or gotten stung by a venomous scorpion, or the marrow extraction could've gone wrong. There was so much risk associated with what he did but he didn't hesitate even once because his desire to save his dad was stronger than his desire to avoid the risks. What a wonderful young fellow.
Edit: I wanted to say that I meant that I was sad that he was going through this (coming from an asian who was overweight), but I admire his courage and his love towards his father for being a donor. | This guy is sentencing himself to a life of medical problems, all to save his dad. He'll most likely die at a young age, and suffer from chronic health problems for his entire life. This really changed my viewpoint on the world, as why does it have to fall on our children to take care of us? Why can't we have more donors so that people like him don't need to sacrifice themselves? Don't get me wrong, this guy is doing a great service to his father. I'm just sad that he has to be the one to take the fall, as he could have a bright future ahead of him.
@@SPV321 world is not a fairy land. After all, at last all it comes down to family/relatives.
@@SPV321 it was the boys choice, he was most likely warned of the dangers of doing this but he wanted to save his family, if you don’t have your family then what do you have?
Most scorpions are actually comparable to bees. Unless you are alergic they are really not that dangerous.
@@SPV321 45kg is honestly not that heavy lol (and I'm a skinny Asian who grew up in Asia myself, not some fat American used to obesity). It's probably still within the average weight range for an 11 year old boy, maybe slightly on the upper side of the scale. He's just on the chubbier side now, far from obese. Also, he's eating whole homecooked meals and not junk food. As long as his parents help him revert back to healthy portion sizes in future, hopefully he'll be okay. It is an immense sacrifice not without risk and he's an amazingly sweet boy, but at the same time it's still a healthy weight range or the hospital would not have allowed it.
The only thing that got bigger was his heart.
His heart size most likely stayed the same. His weight, fat percentage and he on the other hand got bigger

A lot of people are here for you, giving you support and encouragement.
