As a 30 year old woman, acne scarring has truly changed my quality of life for the worst. I don’t date, I don’t go out much, and I feel very self conscious. It sucks when im in the car and sun is shining and it highlights the scars. I’ve been suffering for over 10 years. It’s hard to deal with. Ive done micro dermabrasion, chemical peels, microneedling, fully ablative laser resurfacing (that's under anesthesia, performed by a surgeon with 6 months heal time), subscision, and filler. I still have pretty severe scars. Nothing has worked for me. I do think the medical grade skincare I've been using has made a huge difference in texture. Thank you for this content. It's so rare and valuable to get accurate and transparent skin care information. It would be amazing if you could do a video on how to reduce hyper-pigmentation from stubborn old spots. I was actually expecting a video from you about scarring and here it is! I have slight atrophic scarring on my cheek areas after severe cystic acne and those areas are photosensitive, I can't walk outside without a mask or sunscreen. Im taking Vitamin A (Oxidox capsules) supplements from my dermatologist and now I'll talk to him about topical retinoids too. Thanks for helping me out, giving suggestions on this as IMO acne scars are worse than just acne.
Thanks for acknowledging the importance of acne scar treatments not being insured. I've dealt with cystic acne and scarring for years and only now after lengthy isotretinoin / laser / alternative treatments I am sort of where I want to be. Not to mention that my skin was broken, bleedy and itchy as hell for the majority of that time.
thank you for the THOROUGH break down of effective acne treatments. have been taking oral isotretinion and topical creams for YEARS, but I still struggle with severe acne and scarring issues. looking towards laser treatment for my next step forward!

I think it’s also important to note those who are considering Lasering that many clinics use lasers that work well with those on the Fitzpatrick scale of 1-2 (skin type) and can cause scaring to those with more melanin rich skin. Those with more hyperpigmentation prone skin have to opt for a laser known as Nd:YAG which is often more expensive. At least that is my experience. Would be great to see an efficacy comparison between Nd:YAG and Microneedling so can channel the funds for the most effective treatment for those of darker skin tones.
Yep. A fully ablative CO² fractional laser isn't suitable for Fitzpatrick scale 3 and darker. In my country, we use a mildly ablative CO² fractional laser because it's sunny all year and most people are on Fitzpatrick scale 3 and darker. It's not nearly as effective as the fully ablative ones, but it's quite effective for moderate pigmentation and mild scars. People with severe acne scars are usually given 2-4 treatments at once - they usually consist of subsicion, tca cross, prp, and CO² fractinal laser. And while insurance can't cover those treatments, it's fairly cheap to get those combined treatments - around $100-$300 here.
Hey dude, or shall I say Doctor Dude :) , I've had cystic acne scarring for over 20 years, and I agree with you that OTC products are very limited in effectiveness. In fact I found absolutely nothing disagreeable about any of your statements. You're quite helpful. After a year of Accutane about 5 years ago, the chance I'll get another acne cyst is probably around 95 percent reduced. I almost never see them, but am also using Retin A every day and have ever since Accutane cessation. Before that, I took Doxycyline every day for 15 years. Eventually I started hitting a wall getting it because suddenly everyone was saying that you can't take it for more than 3 months, and I couldn't get an Rx for it anymore, which motivated Accutane treatment. I was too scared of the extremely long and horrifying list of Accutane side effects, but I experienced virtually zero side effects from a year of Accutane treatment. Dry mouth and eyes is all I can remember from it. I wish I'd done it much sooner. From your suggestions I think I'll go with laser treatments. Is there any difference between "Fractional CO2 laser" and any other kind of laser treatment?
Had the opposite in my case. Had 9 sessions of micro needling and saw no results. Only treatments I’ve had where I’ve seen some improvement was subcision
I was about to buy ScarMed cream to treat my acne scars, but after watching your video I changed my decision. Thank you so much for sharing such informative videos.
I really like this video and your honesty. I wouldn't however pick on these so called 'hippies' for giving very worthwhile input on health warnings beyond skincare. People are very easily influenced by an easy fix, especially when recommended by a doctor but there are other doctors who have dedicated their lives to the interactions of the body as a whole and would disagree with the abundant prescription of medication. As a healthcare professional you should always be open to new opinion, and it is worrisome how fast you shoot these people down. For people experiencing highly inflamed skin, diet plays a huge role. Cutting out foods that upset the gut will absolutely help.
I went in for a consultation for my acne scars at this one place and the bundle price for 3 treatments for microneedling was $1400. I couldn't afford it, but the lady wanted to help me out so she gave me half off so now I've been going for over a year now and I am going to get my 5th microneedling treatment next month.
Hi Dr. Usama. Love your content! Can you please make a video for eye care? eye bags and eye circles? There is a lot of garbage about how to get rid of them and nothing scientifically-based. Hence, I am sure your viewers would appreciate one! Thanks!
Dang you totally right. I do my first micro needling this year and feel like nothing happened. The second one my doctor also suggest to do subcision. Now i already have 4 session and see the result. Thanks a lot for this information. I really hope back then i already now this.
For me I have dark spot acne scars all over my face, my skin is good for the most part with no bumps or texture, but the dark spots look like acne, they are light in the center and make it look bumped! It’s so annoying!!
Elissa here. I had 12 microneedling sessions with no results as well as pico laser ×3. Just had bellafill injections with subsicion. Hoping this plus Morpheus 8 will make a difference. I'm 40 and if it weren't for these acne scars I've had since I was 19, I'd have beautiful skin.
@@NatalieK944 Honestly I didn't see a huge difference until my injector showed me a side by side before and after pics she took and I could see that my face was more filled out and the scars filled in. I think I will need a couple more treatments. I would definitely try the filler/subcision. Don't bother with microneedling for deep scars unless you try RF microneedling like Morpheus. Traditional microneedling and pico didn't do anything at all unfortunately.
Informative video. Could you talk about how microneedling and some heat based treatments can potentially cause fat loss in the face. Ive been watching some other drs talk about this so it's concerning.
Thank you for being honest. So far i have done stamping 4th treatment at home. I have seen little improvement but will continue. I use 3.0 stamper once a month. My box scars are very old and a very smalk area on my cheeks about 3/4 surface. I use vitam c and ordinary moisturizer with retinoid by Ordinary brand, and hyulornic acid as well. Will continue to do monthy treatments until i get desired smoothness.
Gone through many videos about scarring, what you told is exactly correct as per my past experiences with scar treatment. Informative content, I have an ambiguity whether micro needling reduces or shows impact on fine lines/wrinkles of aging process.
The felt experience of someone with severe acne scarring is comparable to experiencing mutilation. Mostly because it's facial. Your beauty is taken away, changes in lighting suddenly reveal a grostesque attribute to your facial features to others. Being aware of that makes you want to not be seen. In addition to dealing with that loss, you have to deal with people who lie to you. You knpw how perfectionistic women are about their appearence and yet they pretend your scars are not a big deal. The way we judge ourselves is the way we judge others.

Thank you for this content. It's so rare and valuable to get accurate and transparent skin care information. It would be amazing if you could do a video on how to reduce hyper-pigmentation from stubborn old spots. I don't have raised tissue but after the active spot is gone i am always left with red/purple marks.
Will add it to my list!

I love the little one liners in your videos that CRACK ME UP! I can tell you have a genuine heart that is sick of all the bullshit in the world yet compelled to make a difference. Subscribed.
Ahh thank you!
Hi bro where are u from in India
Education is rarely THIS much fun. You'd make a wonderful professor. Thank you for this and your other videos!
Thank you for your kind words, Eric!
Best skincare channel out there & the realest ❤️
Too kind!
I just love ur vdos and u😍😍
Thanks for acknowledging the importance of acne scar treatments not being insured. I've dealt with cystic acne and scarring for years and only now after lengthy isotretinoin / laser / alternative treatments I am sort of where I want to be. Not to mention that my skin was broken, bleedy and itchy as hell for the majority of that time.
Glad you’re seeing results!
Random question, who edits your videos? They are amazing !!!!!
Microneedling worked for me. I did five treatments and it cleared up most of my acne scars.
When done right, microneedling is excellent!
Bro, I absolutely love your videos. Very direct and no BS. Whilst others make 🙄-inducing videos like 'how to wash your face' and skin-cycling.
Ahh thanks bro!
Thank you for being real to us and not letting yourself be bought. May Allah bless you. 🙌
Your videos really helped me alot not only with my skin but also my personality
Ahh means so much to hear!
thank you for the THOROUGH break down of effective acne treatments. have been taking oral isotretinion and topical creams for YEARS, but I still struggle with severe acne and scarring issues. looking towards laser treatment for my next step forward!
Thanks to Allah, that you posted videos...after a long break
I discovered you a week ago and I felt that my own dermatologist had a yt channel recommending things or giving advices. Thanks god for discovering Dr Syed 🙏🛐💜. Greeting from Argentina 🇦🇷🥰
🙌🏼🇦🇷
The best dermatologist on RUclips!
I love your video, crystal clear, to the point, no empty promise, very honest advice. Big thanks, Dr. Usama.
I like how you feel to those who have severe scare 😢😢 like me who have severe scar acne and also from gentics. So sad 😥😥 and its my biggest insecuritt in life. Dont have confidence at all. Always avoid to do pictures. And always wearing facemask because it makes you comfortable when talking to someone specially on the work. And ASKING WHY YOU ALWAYS WEARING MASK?? COVID ARE GONE ALREADY. Its so hearbreaking.. I just want to hide always. I just LOVE how you speak for us who sufferring this kind of problem .. THANK YOU ❤
R u addressing me?😢
I think it’s also important to note those who are considering Lasering that many clinics use lasers that work well with those on the Fitzpatrick scale of 1-2 (skin type) and can cause scaring to those with more melanin rich skin.
Pico lasers are also appropriate for type 3+.
Humour makes your videos alive.. keep it up
🙌🏼❤️
Allah bless you , you are the ray of light in these Commercially influenced pseudoscientific studies and influencers
Thanks for commenting. I’d like to hear this too
+1
Six sessions of micro needling helped me massively, it’s not gone completely but definitely a 60-70percent improvement
Micro needling or morpheus8?witch one is btr ?
7 sessions in a year for me. It is cost effective and helps to reduce the appearence of scarring but takes a looooooooot of time to show difference
Is 60 or 70 percentage improvement is permanent ?
Or it will return?
@@paimanyousefi2376 you purchase a dr pen ? I think its a better way to get improve at home
Had the opposite in my case. Had 9 sessions of micro needling and saw no results. Only treatments I’ve had where I’ve seen some improvement was subcision
Thank you so much we want these types of vedio more
Thx for the information! Could you, please, make a video about eye skincare?
Can you please make a video about the medical aspect of dermatology and wards that dermatologists do and examples of medical management in dermatology
Will add it to my list!
You are my favorite dermatologist
I was about to buy ScarMed cream to treat my acne scars, but after watching your video I changed my decision. Thank you so much for sharing such informative videos.
I appreciate your videos so much! It's good to hear reasonable skin health information that doesn't feel like a commercial. Thank you! ❤️
I Love your energy & willingness to help people. I respect you a lot for that. Thank you so much! Very very helpful.
Thank you, Doctor. I’m a little shy but you look so charming to me, I love your sense of humor.
Here is the true energy 👏🏻
Did it help for acne scars?
Thanks a lot Dr. Usama Syed..... I was anxiously waiting for this video
Appreciate honest Doctors like you ❤❤❤❤
thank you for your honesty
Thank you. This video deserves more likes.
Best educational video by far
Coming from a laser aesthetician ❤
You're back!!!! Happy to see it
Great video, very straight to the point and informative.
Accutane really did the trick for me this is true
Hi Dr. Usama. Love your content! Can you please make a video for eye care? eye bags and eye circles? There is a lot of garbage about how to get rid of them and nothing scientifically-based. Hence, I am sure your viewers would appreciate one! Thanks!
You are my favorite new youtuber, thank you 🙌🏻
Dang you totally right. I do my first micro needling this year and feel like nothing happened.
The second one my doctor also suggest to do subcision. Now i already have 4 session and see the result.
Thanks a lot for this information. I really hope back then i already now this.
Your skincare videos are really amazing!
Ahh thank you so much!
Is it now better? I‘m thinking of Subcision and filler too.
@@tonylowry8338hey do you have icepick and boxcar scars?
@@tonylowry8338is filler permanent?
Great information. Thank you!
Informative video. Could you talk about how microneedling and some heat based treatments can potentially cause fat loss in the face. Ive been watching some other drs talk about this so it's concerning.
Great video Doc! 👏🏽👏🏽
It was very informative
You’re so cute Dr and your sense of humor is impeccable. I love you already.
Glad you 'returned to work' as a skin expert.
haha always stayed part-time derm!
Gone through many videos about scarring, what you told is exactly correct as per my past experiences with scar treatment. Informative content, I have an ambiguity whether micro needling reduces or shows impact on fine lines/wrinkles of aging process.
Thank you for telling the truth
The felt experience of someone with severe acne scarring is comparable to experiencing mutilation. Mostly because it's facial.
Your beauty is taken away, changes in lighting suddenly reveal a grostesque attribute to your facial features to others. Being aware of that makes you want to not be seen.
In addition to dealing with that loss, you have to deal with people who lie to you. You knpw how perfectionistic women are about their appearence and yet they pretend your scars are not a big deal.
The way we judge ourselves is the way we judge others.
I'm 20 years old, and I've had terrible hormonal imbalance and oily skin I've gone through roaccutane for about 6 months I think and still suffer with oily skin today the only thing I got from roaccutane is bad joints.
Right now, been seeking a solution for oily skin and the scars that were left on my face
Thanks for this video.
Waiting for this video from you...Im very insecure about meeting people outside, attending parties or functions and lost all the confidence due to scars and its very challenging in my profession..Thanks for talking about mentel issues with scaring ,they are damn real and it effects the quality of ones life ....would love to consult you if I match in newyork🤞
Try eating mung beans daily. It is a detox food that cools you down. You will start to grow clear skin, which will replace the old, scarred skin. You will see results in weeks.
Could you make a video about evidence based hair care routine?
Doctor. You spoke my heart. U explained same emotions that i have. Time machine
Beautifully made video keep it up brother
Thanks my bro!
Please make a video on removing acne marks fast....i learn a lot from your research ❤️
you are really a good doctor ,very thanks.
I would love to find a dermatologist like you in Sweden. If I only knew that they were so honest, good of heart and skillful as you, I would be “happy” to save up and invest in 2-4 treatments. At least now I know a lot more thanx to you🙏🙏🙏
Ahh very kind of you! I’m sure there’s even better ones available 🙌🏼
I can recommend Dr. Emil Henningsen in Denmark. He’s is the best acne scar specialist in Europe, in my opinion.
@@Biesjager Wow, really nice of you to recommend a dermatologist. Thank you🙏. I will check him out👍.
@@camillaskold5891 No problem. He told that most of his international patients are in fact from Sweden. If you have any questions, I am more than willing to answer them. We can arrange a pm if you like.
@@Biesjager It’s ok, thanks anyway.
Acne starts from your gut! If you do a food intolerance test, see which foods you are intolerant to and eliminate them from diet and you will see a big improvement
I bet you’re someone who never had cystic acne

Thanks for helping save the money we waste at useless products! A few years ago (about 10),i found out that sunscreens caused many problems to my skin, and almost no benifits...i just dont bake myself directly under the sun some summer hours, and i am very improved at skin condition. What is your opinion? Iam a white female, agged 50, mediterranean, with fast self tanning skin
I hope Ms Shirin also start her videos again
Literally i have tired every single flippin thing except for accutane but I can't do that because one of my parent is againts it eventhough I've had absolutely severe painful acne for 6+ years 😭💔 and the fact that I know for sure its from genetics just makes it pretty clear that I have to give accutane a go one day after watching this ☹ it all makes sense how all these creams and acid done in dermatology offices aren't working... I hope one day it will be clear skin somehow because they are just really against accutane 😭😭
Sounds like you should see a derm with your parents there so you can all discuss the pros and cons together!
make sure to put them in a retirement home as soon as you can
