I got fatty liver from sugary sodas. I cut them off and took tocotrienols by Dr.Berg's suggestion. Liver enzyme(ALT) came down to normal(25) in 3 months with only 50mg/day tocotrienols. Had the dose been 300mg/day as Dr.suggested, it would probably been less than one month recovery-time.

I love dr. Berg and I respect everything he says, but I could not do keto it was just not for me, however I lowered my table sugar intake by a lot and also change the way I eat foods, I make sure I eat a balanced diet every time I eat but i fast every other day for 24hours so fasting absolutely works!!!!! I can not emphasize this enough. I suffered really bad acne/fungal acne, for almost 2 years I was really depressed until my big sis told me to fast every other day, in one day I immediately saw results. No kidding!! Fasting works and I hope who ever reads this tries it! Not for the weak but if you want to change your health and skin it has to be done. Skin care products can only help but so much. Sorry for the long comment but I’m hoping someone reads this and it helps them out 💕

My mother wouldn't listen to me until I told her that Doctors Oz and Stork recommend intermittent fasting. I'm old enough to remember Dr. Atkins being vilified in the 80's for writing a book endorsing ketogenic diet. This was during the low fat/high carb craze. Muffins, bread, skim milk, cereal, bagels without butter, fat free everything and no eggs or olive oil... I couldn't understand why I felt better and got way better results in the gym when I ate high protein while giving up starchy carbs in the early 90's. I felt like a weirdo. Well, we all know better these days.

I can confirm this information from personal experience.
I suffer from both Rosacea and Ulcerated colitis, the two are intrinsically connected. Keeping away from carbs helps my gut and therefore my skin. If I have inflammation in my gut, I get inflammation on my face. If I lapse (sometimes to do a controlled study), my face breaks out and my bowels are not happy. Carb reduction, probiotics and fasting has had an amazingly positive effect for my health, appearance and general well being. Dr Berg has been a huge catalyst of this improvement in my well being, his information and connecting the dots is much appreciated.

Thanks, Dr. Berg! This lines up with everything I keep reading on how fasting literally transforms the body from the inside out. There’s diabetes in my family, and I am super conscious of this fact. I have had hypoglycemia since I was a kid, and the last several years by A1C blood sugar levels were creeping higher and higher toward pre-diabetic range. In the last 18 months or so, I have done 16:8 fasting with low sugar overall. My A1C is now 5.2 from 5.9 a year ago. I’m so happy with this! That’s like going from “hey, we’re gonna need to start diabetes prevention” to “diabetes, what diabetes?” But I’m still very aware of what I eat and continue to fast most days of the week. I even have had very few hypoglycemic episodes since fasting. It’s a true gift!

Try a green smoothie a day :) (can replace the coffee for this.. if you have gut issues, coffee on an empty stomach causes inflammation which would not be good for your stomach or skin). My go to smoothie is: Spirulina, celery, cucumber, spinach leaves, pear, grape. I've added MCT oil (coconut oil) to smoothies and it tastes great in them :) You can play around with different fruit and green combos, but if you have a green smoothie a day, your skin and stomach will thank you! (it's how I got rid of my acne for good, along with limiting inflammatory foods- so reducing dairy, wheat & cane sugar).

Hi Dr Berg, I want to talk about my case in particular. After returning from holidays overseas, having gained 5 KG in 1 month, I decided to start intermitent fasting as a quick way to lose weight. I have been suffering from cystic - hormonal acne since my teenage years to this days, I just turned 34 years old. It turned out that after one month following a 16/8 diet, my skin started to clear up, and now, after 4 months following this routine, my breakouts have been reduced around 90%. It has been mindblowing to see how changes in your diet that ultimately affect your sugar levels can cause such dramatic changes in acne sufferers. I highly recommend anyone suffering from this type of acne to try out either to cut sugar from their diet, or simply schedule their meals into intermitent fasting periods, it has saved me from going into harsh medication such as isotritoin or roaccutane or having to spend thousands of dollars in other invasive skin treatments.

I eased into it by slowly decreasing my carb intake over about a week and taking a week off the gym. Now that I’m a little acclimated, Ive gone back to the gym on a lighter schedule (used to spend 2+ hours on total body) now doing 30-60 min and focusing on an upper/lower split. Even if I eat something mildly carb heavy, it doesn’t trigger cravings right away. I did not anticipate my skin looking better, it’s usually decent looking but it looks a couple years younger and a little glowy as my big cheeks get smaller too haha

Love the information Eric shares. My mission is to reduce bloating, fatty liver (reducing the size of my pudge), and high interval (low weight) training.
I lost 4 pounds in 1 week, but I cheated with pizza (I know, I know--dairy and bread) over the weekend.
No, it's not easy. Sometimes I get headaches, but I push through.
No sugar was tough, but it gets easier after the first 5 days.
7-10 pounds is my goal (depending on my "pudge").
Then I'll start bulking (not eating more but lifting heavier).
One thing I'm struggling with is sleeping.
So far, I feel sharper and more focused (especially if I can get 8 hours of sleep).
You need to focus on making it through the cravings (hunger pangs).
Overall, I enjoy fasting (intermittent and sometimes longer due to a busy schedule).

Since I started getting periods (30 some years ago) I would get hormone migraines (sometimes throughout the month on certain cycle days, but ALWAYS the day before my period). I started this advice (the 18-hour fasting and very little sugar) during PMS week. I did NOT get ANY headaches! I am throughly amazed at how well I feel overall! @@Jessiewantstosee the problem with magnesium deficiency is that it can't be tested in blood easily. A special test for so called free ionized active magnesium can be done but otherwise a cell sample would be needed and good luck finding a hospital who Tests for that. But doctors can Diagnose based on symptoms. It's common because magnesium needs vary wildly from person to person and our food has much less magnesium than it used to. Also if you take magnesium but only fulfill your daily need or less, you can still get a magnesium deficiency if you have chronic illness or chronic stress, get an injury, etc. How much magnesium do you take and in which form? It's important to spread the dosage out thinly over the day too to increase absorption.

I am coming here after 3 months because I have finally realised the single reason why I went from 30% average to 85% average in school. Intermittent fasting-although I was doing it to get clear skin at the time- indirectly boosted my cognitive ability to the point where I was able to study 5 hours a day during the holidays and 2 hours each day after school. I would always skip breakfast for "clearer skin" but I never realised just how much it boosted my cognitive ability and ambition to the point where I could do anything. I was at a point in my life where I had never been before.
