Just how heavy is the steering? Is it comparable to a Quad Bike? I found Quad Bikes unpleasant to steer at lower speeds and didn't want to find out what anything more than very moderate speeds felt like.

Ridden for 51 years. I've had a Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph and 6 Harley's with the 2019 TRI-GLIDE being my last one. I ride with buddies and stay with them in the corners. The straight, they pull away. My trike is an absolute blast, very comfortable, and no more worries about lose gravel etc. My wife now rides with me and loves it. Weak knees put me on a trike and I've ridden it on several 200 mile trips and no more backaches. In license school I was only one who scored 100% on the course (my state requires a 3 wheel seperate from the two wheel licence). Dealer told me give it a month and then decide if you like it. It took me two weeks. Ready this next summer for a 1000 mile trip.

For health reasons just bought my first Tri Glide..2019- About everything he pointed out is spot on. The obvious main draw back is cornering. Mine is only 2 weeks old and 350 miles and already I've got it torn apart to add the lift kit which is suppose to make it corner better. From day 2 I added cruise pegs and a back rest to alleviate the 90 degree knee bend,,,big difference. One other big draw back is that the catalytic chamber is right under the passengers right foot floor pad,,,,Lots of heat. I'm eventually going to put taller bars and adjust them more towards me so I can not be so vertical. You did really well for first ride on three. Due to a bad back and leg, I had my Dyna converted to a trike. I had ridden on two wheels for 51 years. Scared sh!tless when I picked it up.
You ask is it worth it , I've had one since 2010 having made several long trips on one i say yes they are worth it , I just bought a 2020 trike because of the experience with the 2010 . as far as the turning issue when you get used to the trike and how it handles it's not really an issue, it's not a problem it's just different. riding alone I prefer my Street Glide but when I ride with my wife it's the trike all the way, she feels safer and feels free to look around and move about, on the bike she fears moving around to much will throw me off (so to speak) Happy Wife, Happy Life.
I have Problems with my legs ,and the trike is prefect for me ,and would be a good choice for anyone who can't ride a two wheeler . And As long as I can get out into the wind with my lady I am a happy camper . And I realy Like Harleys I took my road-test for my license back in 1976 and I road a Harley FXE Fright train 1200 ,and the Man doing the test told me I would never pass with such a big bike . And I passed it that day with flying colors .lol He apologized after the test ,and said he was wrong . I just laughed and told him I didn't think I would Pass either but it was all I had to take it on. lol So God bless all my Brothers ,and Sisters that ride . And I pray that the good Lord Watches over you and Keeps you safe .Amen
A TriGlide might seem hard to steer, but if you use both arms you'll have no problems. Also, if you are concerned with dumping it while cornering the Tri Glide has an IMU (Inertia Measurement Unit) which actually is an inertia Management unit. In the event a rear wheel loses contact with the ground (airborne while cornering ) the IMU cuts power to the contact wheel by either throttling down or lightly braking. Have you ever seen anybody dump a TriGlide? Didn't think so. But.....with a FrankenTrike dumping is very possible and probable without the IMU.
Is it worth it? If you don’t like holding up a top heavy beast at every start and stop, and If you are no longer feel confident on 2 wheels and still want to ride, absolutely! Not to mention stones, parade speed, sharp turns and the fact the wife doesn’t like the lean but you enjoy your time with your wife, absolutely! It’s not about the money for me. Buy an older one if need be, I’ll never be too cool to ride a trike.
Excellent points! I plan on riding in a parade for 4th of July, and I'm not looking forward to doing parade speed on an 1100 pound bike 😂 Thanks for watching!
One purpose for the trike you didn’t mention was pulling a camper. That is the reason my first motorcycle will likely be a trike. The stability of the tongue sitting between the rear wheels tops two wheels in tandem. Then, I’ll get a two-wheeler. Thanks for the first person perspective experience!
@@MOTOBLADE Yeah, I’ve been looking at a bunch of them to pull behind a future Harley trike. Here’s the standout do far: ruclips.net/video/PQ3q8uIECgA/видео.html Funny, I was just now at the nearby Harley dealership to sit on the Tri Glide for the first time and to barrage the guy with questions. He said that for the first two years of new trike ownership, attaching any trailer would void the warranty (Gulp!) He has only been there a year, so he didn’t know much about trailering, anyway.
Moto you need to turn in your man card the trike will corner great if the correct line is used , and if you have ever rode a 4 wheeler its easy to ride a trike I have been on a HD TRI GLIDE for 2 years now with no regrets
Ouch 🤣 Never ridden a four wheeler either! I'm sure I'd figure it out after more than a fifteen minute ride. Glad you like your Tri-Glide. I'd like to get one too, just too expensive for me right now.
It’s a push pull on the handle bars , I live and ride in the North Ga. mountains around Talking Rock Ga. we have quite a few curves here just learn your riding line they handle very good , the wife really likes the trike and you only feel a tipping they are a stable ride after all its a1200 pound machine
It's not really for young people. It's for older riders who still want that feeling of commanding a motorcycle, but are physically unfit for it. That reverse gear is da bomb. HD could probably extend the riding life for a lot of their touring riders by including that on their touring lineup.
Don't look on as a cost, look on it as an investment. Thing I like is the view as you are touring, very relaxed. Could have a nice chat with your pillion via the intercom like a tour bus driver describing points of interest.
There is a learning curve to riding a tri glide. Two weeks into riding it you will figure it out. I know how to keep up with all cruisers with a trike.
HaHaHa I’m paralyzed from arms down and ride a TriGlide. Also live near Tail of the dragon and I can smoke most 2 wheels down that 11 mile stretch of road.
Don't go forgetting us old riders. Always thought there is no way I'm ever going to go with a trike. How wrong I was. Bad knees is forcing me to go with a trike. I have a 2012 Ultra limited, having it converted as I write this.
I love my 2018 Ann with the stage 2, Not really for speed. More for comfort for the long hauls of 7 hours or more. Certainly, has a lot of storage, i use the RikRack. I find each person uses their own technique how to ride and handle the Trike, it is larger and safer on the roads. other drivers do take notice. No good in rainy wet weather, water gets caught up in the rear wheels, therefore affects the braking not as responsive in wet weather and takes a bit to slow it down.
Interesting perspective on the braking. I had not thought about that. I always assumed a trike would be safer in the rain. Probably still is as far as stability is concerned vs a motorcycle, but I had not thought about the braking. Traction control help/make any noticeable difference?
@@MOTOBLADE When the road is covered in water and the rain is coming down, stability of braking, just like being in a car. Poor and can be uncontrollable, trike has only got a short axle the wheels are close together, water gets caught up in the wheels. slow down and allow plenty of braking distance.
Experienced 2 wheel riders seem to have the most problems with TriGlides. Like putting feet down at stops, riding on the left or right side of the lane, trying to lean while cornering, and complaining about the difficulty in steering while not using both arms. Check out "Wanda's Ride" on YT, she is an awesome lady near 70 years of age that rides her own TriGlide.
He's not at all experienced an experienced rider can and will ride any thing and do it well a wannabe will make videos and try to tell you what to ride.
Having steered an ATV myself I would say it is better than a quad/ATV. Something you would certainly learn and get used to, I just don’t ride a trike often enough for it to make sense to me. Just my 2 cents 🤷🏼♂️
Tty pulling with one arm pulling with the other makes it less effort. Not bad with forward motion on the road. Betting you haven't done it much. You don't really feel turns as much unless you are in town.
It’s a shame that the HD dealer did not show you how the steering works. It’s different. There is not much danger of flipping with the RDS; it is setup to prevent that. They have a speed limiter set to 115 so it’s sort of a moot point on HD bikes. The cons after owning one for a year. The suspension is rough. I replaced it with legend suspension front and back. It’s heavy and accelerates quite a bit slower. I hd a stage 2 done to help. All make the trike great but adds to an already $$ ride
@@nativetrikeboy I think the fastest I’ve ever gone on a motorcycle is back when I had my Kawasaki 500 3 cylinder two stroke and I think that was 130 and one false move and your friggin across the road! On my Triglide I think I’ve been up as high as 90 but that’s it and that wasn’t for a long amount of time.
Wish you had a passenger's opinion. A passenger said on some review that " felt like i was in a roller coaster without seatbelts and barely there arm rests. I'm close to buying one and I doubt they will let me take her out on a test drive. We're around 50 and I have a disability and a trike is needed for me to keep riding. BUT at 40000+ I need a passenger's opinion. Great videos btw. and would like your thoughts. Tks
@@lvtony22 I have carried passengers who enjoyed the ride very much. Safety belts are not something you want on a trike or bike. Want to be free of the vehicle in case of an accident. Many Harley dealerships can be quite accommodating with test rides so it’s worth asking them if they can help you get a test ride on one. If not, try another dealership. If they want to sell a trike, they will make it happen for you. I do have an updated review of this trike on my channel from just a couple weeks ago. I rode a new one for 2024. Hope that helps! And I hope you find just the ride you’re looking for :)
@lvtony22 I'm 62 and my wife is 55. She's also 6'1 and never cared for being on my bikes. Even the Ultra Classic! Due to health issues I had to go to a trike about a year and a half ago. SHE LOVES IT!! Can't get out of the driveway without her!!😂
I just did a Stage II with torque cam on my 2017 TriGlide. Also added Legends shocks with the lift which is really just replacing the bracket the bottom part of the shock attaches to. I took it out yesterday and had it up to 95mph. Still can't wipe the smile off my face for the handling and performance difference. Don't miss riding two wheels at all anymore.
I am not sure if you ever tried a can-am Spyder trike. But they handle great in curves , they have power steering and cannot be flipped. Also, no clutch for someone with a disability and one brake pedal for all tree wheels. Maybe worth looking into.
I'm sure you could probably put highway pegs on it or something similar to allow you to stretch out. Harley also has extended crontol option for their bikes, allowing you to place the shifter and brake further forward. Worth asking if they can do those for the triglide as well.
Dear Sir , I'm ďisabled having a r/ stroke. I come from England. I need a trike pulling a 9 foot caravan. It be automatic. Starting at Chicago. At, May or June 2023. Who do I contact with this adventure. For 6 months. Thanks. Michael
Been trying to get on a spyder for a while. Lots of test ride plans are on the back burner right now because of covid. I will get there eventually! Thanks for watching!
Hey there...I am from germany and plan on going to the states. Here in germany you dont need a motorcycle license for a Tri Glide, you can ride it with a regular car license.. How is he law in the U.S. on Trikes?
Why do people always refer to three wheeled motorcycles as motorcycles then correct themselves to say trike. By definition a bicycle has two wheels and when you add a motor it becomes a motorcycle. A tricycle has three wheels and when you add a motor it also becomes a motorcycle. The prefix Bi or Tri is dropped from both.
Up -grading from my 2015 Free Wheeler to a Tri Glide in 2021 . but I got to say I can out run my 2 wheel friends . on the Dragon , Blue Ridge Parkway , through West Virginia , all over the south , mid west . don't matter where . Now I do gotta say the twisties on the dragon , and other challenging roads the front wheel tends to wash out over 45 mph . and you might lift a wheel . but I am hear to tell you unless you are on a sport bike I will out run you .
Hey bro, Love your channel, I’m a fairly big guy, (6’3 300lbs), what’s are your dimensions? Height and weight, it would just give me a better gauge of your reviews when you talk about the comfort and handling of the bikes you ride.
I'm 5' 8" and 230 pounds. If you need a little more leg room on the bikes, almost any seat can be modified for extended reach. Hope that helps bro. Glad you love my channel, thanks for watching!
MOTOBLADE even for the HD FATBOY?!?! I want one really bad but a soft tail for a guy my size (who doesn’t like big apes) scares me bro. Thanks for the reply.
Great review, but your missing the point, ITS NOT A 2 wheeler, get over the comparison of a regular motorcycle is not. Once you get used to handling a trike, it's OK. I have a Cvo road king that I'm trading in i'm trading in. test rode a trike once I got the two Wheel thinking out of the way i was good
@@MOTOBLADE $36099 + T &L is a very low price to make a person feel better than any millionaire when you saddle up and ride. Not to mention making America your backyard!
No. The tri glide suspension sucks because they’re still running the straight axle from 1936 get it Kooltrikes independent suspension kit convert your tri glide or your two wheeled Harley to a smooth riding trike
He is pissing and moaning about the handling, but it is obvious he is in experienced riding a Trike. I have found that handling is not much different then two wheels, twisty's are not a problem if you remember the basics, Head and Eyes, Transmission and Throttle and its a piece of cake.
Setting here I stopped this video to put a question to you addressing "turns". Hold Goldwings, addressed the turns by putting a 4 1/2 to 5 degree rake (CSC) on the front end (ruclips.net/video/8bujixWzQ3U/видео.html - 1.05 minute mark).. Now for the question. Did Harley address this issue when making this trike kit? IT is a well know fact the the suspension front and rear is the first major upgrade to be done on the CVO, as to many reviews address the issue of it being just that bad, SO "Legend Suspension" here we come. CSC in the above linked description, addressed the issue, by doing the rake as the bike is being built. If, the conversion kit, does not include a rake kit for the front end, it might explain why the turns are so bad. I just watched Mat, from Laidlaw's, go out on a CVO tri-glide, and in one turn he scared me to death. IF, this bike, does not come with a new rake design for the front end, can it be added? As i write this, I am currently looking to buy one for my wife and I. I would prefer Harley, but, at the moment, it looks like Honda has Harley beat in looks, style, and comfort. Yet, it is not a Harley. Scottishxpride, TX.
Just a point of clarification, the Harley trike's (Tri-Glide Ultra and Freewheeler) are not kits. They are built as trikes from the ground up directly from Harley. As far as the turning goes, I added the lift kit to my 2018 and it took me about a week or so to get used to it.
This guy achieved commenting on the speed does he not understand this is not a sport bike it's not meant to be for you riding around them really fast. They should have got someone who's more familiar and used to trikes to review this but this guy keeps talking about us if it's a motorcycle and it's not.
There’s no getting ‘a guy’ - Harley doesn’t hire me 😂 (I wish they did so I could get paid). I just go around and review 2 & 3 wheeled machines. I compare the trikes to motorcycles in Harley’s lineup because I’ve ridden everything else in Harley’s lineup and people ask me for a comparison to touring machines - because they may be considering a touring bike vs a trike. Sorry you didn’t like the review bro ✌🏻
Every time I see a trike I cringe so much. These things are so damn ugly and fruity that anyone who owns one should rethink their choices made in life. The last time I needed 3 wheels was learning how to ride a bicycle and I was 4-5 years old. But for grown men to have 3 wheels is just an embarrassment. Get offended all you want but at the end of the day you still paid 30k-40k+ for a pussy bike
obviously you've never suffered a life changing injury or illness or you wouldn't be so ignorant making such a comment. Thank HD that they make 2 awesome Trikes straight from the factory that still allow people to ride who otherwise would have to give up the joy and freedom riding give you. Maybe when you go up and experience life with all of it's ups and downs you'll grow up to be a real man and learn some compassion.

Glad to hear from someone who owns one and has enjoyed it so much. Ride safe brother!
That's an awesome piece of tech to have in that trike!
What cost the trike
I NEVER even thought about that. And I've looked at getting a camper for my motorcycle several times. Great point!
@@MOTOBLADE Yeah, I’ve been looking at a bunch of them to pull behind a future Harley trike. Here’s the standout do far: ruclips.net/video/PQ3q8uIECgA/видео.html
Funny, I was just now at the nearby Harley dealership to sit on the Tri Glide for the first time and to barrage the guy with questions.
Exactly
Great video brother, thanks. It helps to make up my mind on leaving my fxst custom for a Tri Bike..
Glad I could help! Ride safe brother ✌🏻 Have fun!
It's not really for young people. It's for older riders who still want that feeling of commanding a motorcycle, but are physically unfit for it.
That reverse gear is da bomb. HD could probably extend the riding life for a lot of their touring riders by including that on their touring lineup.
I would love to have reverse on my Chieftain.
As an amputee, this ride will do me fine :)
Glad to hear it! This is a very nice ride!
I've always wondered if the brakes have proportioning valves. I'm an amputee also and interested in trikes.
On my Trike (2019), I have pegs right off fairing to give me options of floor board, or putting my feet up on pegs.
HaHaHa
I’m paralyzed from arms down and ride a TriGlide. Also live near Tail of the dragon and I can smoke most 2 wheels down that 11 mile stretch of road.
I love the dragon. That was my favorite part of living in TN. So glad you still ride! You show those 2 wheelers whose the boss! Ride safe brother!
Don't go forgetting us old riders. Always thought there is no way I'm ever going to go with a trike. How wrong I was. Bad knees is forcing me to go with a trike. I have a 2012 Ultra limited, having it converted as I write this.
That's another good reason I had not thought of. Thank you for mentioning it, and I'm very glad you still get to ride! Never give it up!
She's cool! I guess I must be an experienced 2 wheeler then... I'm sure I'd get used to it, but I think I will stick with 2 wheels for now.
He's not at all experienced an experienced rider can and will ride any thing and do it well a wannabe will make videos and try to tell you what to ride.
Good report !!!! I want one !!!!!
It's a great ride! Thanks for watching :)
Great review !
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Str8 up good video..great infro to the point.
Thanks for watching!
The most difficult thing I've ever steered was a 4 Wheel ATV (Quad bike). Would you say the feeling is comparable?
Having steered an ATV myself I would say it is better than a quad/ATV. Something you would certainly learn and get used to, I just don’t ride a trike often enough for it to make sense to me. Just my 2 cents 🤷🏼♂️
Sucks that dealship closed loved the service and people there
Indeed. I miss their dealership very much.
Long distance trips - you can't be it!!
Super comfy for long distance.
Green Mountain Harley is a great place.
It really is! Great people there.
I don’t think your ever going to do 120 on a trike ! If you do your nuts !
I’ve done it on my 2010 lol
@@nativetrikeboy I think the fastest I’ve ever gone on a motorcycle is back when I had my Kawasaki 500 3 cylinder two stroke and I think that was 130 and one false move and your friggin across the road! On my Triglide I think I’ve been up as high as 90 but that’s it and that wasn’t for a long amount of time.
👏👏
Can't get out of the driveway without her!!😂
She describes it as "a slight rocky horse feel"
@@hippywilliams4182 your name (your other username) popped up on my phone when you left the comment and I about choked laughing 😆 😂
Glad to be of service!!🤣😂
How was the shifting noise through the gears after she was warmed up?
It improved. Still more ‘clunky’ than my Indian but I would get used to it. Just a Harley transmission I guess 🤷🏼♂️
I disagree on turning, my triglide leave 2 wheelers in the curve all the time, but they always kill me me in the straights
The Trike would steer a lot better with Centre Hub steering. Traditional forks just don't cut it on an outfit like this.
Trikes corner like any single axle. Work with it and it works great. It’s not a motor cycle
U have to push with your left hand to turn right.Never pull
Don't fight it, push into the turn.
I am not sure if you ever tried a can-am Spyder trike. But they handle great in curves , they have power steering and cannot be flipped. Also, no clutch for someone with a disability and one brake pedal for all tree wheels. Maybe worth looking into.
You need to turn around..take it back to the dealer until you can learn to ride a trike before complaining about it.
Good to hear from you brother. Ride safe , Deuces!
Thanks for watching brother! 😎✌🏻
I’m 6’3” with bad knees and I wonder if the Tri Glide will let me stretch out my legs instead of the 90 degree bend which won’t work for me.
I'm sure you could probably put highway pegs on it or something similar to allow you to stretch out. Harley also has extended crontol option for their bikes, allowing you to place the shifter and brake further forward. Worth asking if they can do those for the triglide as well.

How is he law in the U.S. on Trikes?
In the United States you will need a motorcycle license to ride any 3 or 2 wheeled vehicle.
@@MOTOBLADE Thx for your fast answer. Will have to get a license then.
@@OldCarger You are very welcome!
In some States (California and Nevada, for example) only a regular DL is needed. Check the DMV websites for the states you want to ride in.
My wife is an English teacher. I’m going to propose this to her tonight and watch her go nuts 😂

Hey bro,
Love your channel, I’m a fairly big guy, (6’3 300lbs), what’s are your dimensions? Height and weight, it would just give me a better gauge of your reviews when you talk about the comfort and handling of the bikes you ride.
I'm 5' 8" and 230 pounds. If you need a little more leg room on the bikes, almost any seat can be modified for extended reach. Hope that helps bro. Glad you love my channel, thanks for watching!

You have to know how to turn, it's like riding a snowmobile or 4 wheeler.
Great review, but your missing the point, ITS NOT A 2 wheeler, get over the comparison of a regular motorcycle is not. Once you get used to handling a trike, it's OK. All new motorcycles governed at around 115. Your Indian doesn't go over 120
If you like to lay it low on twisty mountains go Honda DCT motorcycle
As far as the turning goes, I added the lift kit to my 2018 and it took me about a week or so to get used to it.
be fair,. ts a 1250lb scooter that can pull @ 90mph with 2 riders. you cant ride it like a bike
2 different beast
Turning is not hard Once you get used to it.
Looking at the prices my broke ass prolly never own one...

I will not subscribe just because of the opening comment!
