Well, just to let you know about my experience. It was kinda a rough ride around town with all the pot holes. On the highway it was great. But since I ride in town alot it was irritating. So I ended up installing a set of DK Custom Nex gen 13” Triglide shocks for the rear. $1000. But the ride is 100 time better. The difference between night and day. I was seriously considering selling the bike. But after I installed the shocks, it is so nice now. I just thought I would throw that in at you.
Thank you so much for making this video… After 6 2 wheeled vehicles, My doctor told me no more motorcycle, so I went out and got a trike, a triglide, and I really appreciate this video, primarily because I’m retired from audio and television production… And this video is absolutely well shot, well produced, & well edited. Bravo & thank you.
Wow, coming from a guy with your background that says a lot. But I’m just an amateur guy trying to help people make choices/decisions. I bought this Triglide after riding motorcycles for over 50 years. I should have done it 10 years ago it is so much fun.
Excellent professional account of the many 'add-ons' to your Triglide, which has given me several ideas for fitment to my own Triglide here in U.K. Incidentally, you look 10 years younger with the clean shaven look. (I am 88 years of age and went the Triglide route some 5 years ago, which I have never regretted)
Thanks for the comment I grew a beard about October and just shaved it off again here in February first time in over 30 years I had a beard. I am 69 years old and I bought this TG three years ago. Best thing I ever did. I was beginning to have a little balance problems. Now I should be able to ride into the future many years. Depending On how long I live. But hopefully I can enjoy this Motorcycle many more years.
Velcro Wire ties work well for securing your wire leads. Available from almost any big box store. I use many of these for organizing the many cables for our D.J. equipment. Come is different colors too.
@@windsurfed1 A little FYI. I run a Harley repair shop on a part time bases. I'm a retired Manufacturing and Quality Engineer, mostly engine plants like Waukesha Engines, Harley Davidson and Briggs and Stratton,. I started doing this just because I like doing it and to keep me busy. I have a close contact with several Harley master techs too. These days I offer much free advice as money is not a priority anymore.
@@Greenjeans2020 yes, I hear what you’re saying. When money doesn’t much matter anymore. Sounds like your knowledge could be very valuable to the right people. I retired about six years ago. Bought this trike about a year and three months ago. Should have done it 10 years ago. Running the Harley repair shop on a part-time basis is pretty cool.
I guess you think you are about finished tinkering with it..bet not!!!! You always amaze me with what you find to add on to your "stock" trike. I hope you are developing a list for the winter!!
No guessing about it I have just about run out of things to video. The only thing left is the HD cool flow fan which there isn’t much video to be shown there. No I don’t think they’ll be much more videos coming from me on the Triglide.
Let's brain storm for a second...step outside the "stock" mindset..like someone else suggested, change out the lights to Custom Dynamics; experiment with different exhausts; try various adjustable levers; OR..buy a new Freewheeler and start over! You just can't abandon those of us who enjoy your videos!
@@r.j.devaney780 That’s just it! I like a stock engine on a motorcycle. Every motorcycle I have ever had I left the engine alone and just left it completely stock. So, I don’t see myself doing any engine modifications, leaving off the possibility of doing videos in that area. Also there is a huge cost doing engine work. I do have a one other idea, outside the motorcycle world. But I will have to contemplate on that for a while as to whether I really want to pursue it. It would be a whole new can of worms.
@@r.j.devaney780 that was high on my list for a while did a lot of research and found the one I wanted but then I tried to figure out the best places to use one and what I would use one for and it made no sense to me after that so I dropped the idea. I thought about making destination videos. Then that drone would come in handy.
Fantastic and informative, well needed since about to take possession of my first tri glide after riding two wheel harleys for 50 years now. Not to far away over here in MT, stay well.
Well, I hope you enjoy your new Triglide. I put so much accessories on mine now, that I could have Bought a brand-new offbrand motorcycle. Yes I get over to Montana (western). Used to go there a lot to Butte Great Falls Libby whitefish Eureka. Now I just settle for Thompson Falls pass.
Nice. I also have a triglide. My standard windshield is high enough for me as I m female and sit a little lower. I would like to add the footrests. That would be nice. I do have the heated seats and grips. They feel wonderful. I was well advised to install the rear chrome bumper. Repairing the trunk would be expensive. Great video. I see a couple more things I want now! Thx. Ride safe from British Columbia.
You should enjoy it thoroughly. Glad you watched the video and could use some of the information. Although I have dumped a lot of money into those accessories, they made the ride on the motorcycle so much more enjoyable. I am pretty sure that had a not got some of the accessories. I would not be enjoying it as much as I am. I almost considered selling the motorcycle, but after the accessories, I am now happy. Especially with the new shocks I got on.
I have $12,000 in accessories. I could’ve bought a brand new Asian motorcycle or a brand new Harley Davidson sportster. But no I had to buy accessories to make me more comfortable.
Hi. New to your channel. I noticed the cool flow fan and was wondering how that has worked out for you. Talked to HD dealership about it and they said they felt they worked pretty good for baggers but the trunk would block air flow and wouldn't provide much relief for the passenger. New Tri Glide coming next week and plan to do mods to help cool engine which will help with felt heat. After 66 years knees are getting questionable and hurt when handling Road King ( backing, stopping on slopes etc.). Looking forward to the Tri Glide and so is the wife. Ride safe. Keep the videos coming
Cool flow fan works great. It really does take the hot air away from your leg and your passenger leg. I would definitely have one for the Triglide. Congratulations on your new purchase of your Triglide. Took me about 1300 miles to get used to a trike. I should have done it 10 years ago. As you saw in the video I also put Jim‘s force flow fan on and that really helps keep the engine cool on the hot days and provided more relief from heat on the leg. I don’t even think about heat on the leg anymore. Without those two items it was really an issue.
Glad you could use some of the information on the video. You will thoroughly enjoy your three wheeler. The only problem is you end up putting too much accessories on and it cost lots and lots of money.
My very first motorcycle was a 1965 Honda 305 dream in white I bought in 1967. First Harley was a 1979 XLCH I bought new in 1978. After several other Harley models, I now have a 2020 Triglide.
I just got the Harley Tri Glide, 2020, with 5k miles. Turning takes time to get used to. I ordered a Coolflow Fan, and the Panhard Rod, which keeps the bike from lifting a rear wheel on a turn. I take turns easy, however I wanted this extra sturdiness just in case.
@@junesondrab3833 I rode little ATC 90 Honda three wheelers for years. Then I jumped on this Harley Davidson trike. The only thing I really had to watch out for was coming into the curves hot. That can be very dangerous. I have 26,000 on my bike now and I have not had any issues. The bike engine is totally stock. I have not done anything to it. The cool flow fan is nice to have. Also the trike midstep, which is very expensive, is worth it. I ended up discarding the OEM rear shocks and replacing them with DK custom 13 inch trig glide shocks. The ride on the OEM shocks caused me to think about selling the bike. But when I got the new shocks, it was like night and day and I love this bike now Again.
Sir very nice add ons! I just picked up a 22 with 247 miles on it! The previous owner added a lot of accessories including a rear bumper. I love my trike so glad I got her. Your gauges are awesome!!! I’m torn if I want those but I’m a sucker for the sweeps! You ever thought about a heated/cooled seat? Thank you!
No, I have never thought about a heated seat. Or heated handgrips. That is some very low miles on that bike you bought. The gauges are nice. I like the digital and the colors. But they are a lot of money. I think they cost around $900 just for the gauges then you have to have them installed unless you do it yourself. We used to ride a lot in cold weather and we just had very nice heated jacket and gloves, and that met all of our needs.
I got the lower fairing pockets off of Amazon. They are about $73 and I’ve had them in mass of rain and I did not notice any water getting in them. Kuryakyn 5208 Lower Fairing Panel Door Pockets
First time on your channel. Great info. Thanks. One day if i can tob a bank and get away eith it ill buy one. Im 69 and ride a 2013 FLTRU (road glide ultra). I had to yrade my 1986 FLT for it. That was a sweet bike i didnt want to get rid of. I still have an 1984 FXRT. Its a mid year and came with a EVO motor. She has been to White Horse,Canada 5-6 times. Great ride. I do Sturgis every year. See you their maybe if you come out. Take care and ill be watching fir more of your videos.
Glad you got to this channel. Sounds like you have done alot of riding in your life Life. Very well experienced. I have never been to Sturgis. Seen it on the cameras live the last couple three years. To be honest with you. I don’t have a desire to go there but it is sure interesting watching the bikes on the live cameras while Sturgis is taking place. You certainly have put on a lot of miles on your motorcycles.
@windsurfed1 I did ride a lot in my younger days. I'm slowing down as I reach my 70's. Now I still ride a lot but no where's as far as before. This summers trip was just shy of 17,000 miles. I had an outstanding time and will be headed down in Late June next summer again. I always end up with Sturgis. Tgen it's home to ho moose hunting! Need winter meat.
The Clock is a Formotion clock made for motorcycles. Just do a google search "Formotion Clocks" and you will see them. The Lower fairing pockets on got on ebay. Search "lower fairing pockets" and they should show up.
What is the name of the chair company and where did you buy it? You should think about developing a list of each item and where to buy the item! Love your videos! I just bought a 2021 H-D trike and love it. I put Legends shocks in the front and back!
Joey chair steel: model 7789S. I think they’re made from a company called Travelchair. As for listing the items on the description page, probably should have done that. Makes it easier for people to see where and how much things cost. Let me know how you like those legend shocks.
I’ve seen some on other brand of motorcycles that could be converted into 3wheelers. But I agree with you Harley Davidson needs to come out with independent rear suspension for the triglides.
How many things you need to put on a brand new bike? The most important thing one can do to a bike nowadays is additional red LED lights the rear and more white lights in the front.
@@wooddawg4868 admittedly, there seems to be no end to what accessories you can put on a motorcycle. Just as there is no end to a person putting jewelry on. It’s never ending. On the motorcycle, though, you will never get your money back. You might as well flush it down the toilet. Most of the accessories I got were for comfort and not for bling. Hopefully this is my last Motorcycle.
Thanks for the video. Question, how do you make your videos while your riding down the road and talking? I have my GoPro, what else do you use so that you just hear yourself talking in the video and not the sound of the motorcycle? Thanks
I use the gopro 9 with a gopro media mod attached. ($99) I plug in the TRS microphone into media mod. I use a full face helmet. I have the microphone on the full face helmet strung along my boom mic which belongs to my sena motorcycle communicator, and route it to the gopro on the chin mount. You just have to be creative on routing the microphone wires. The sena boom microphone is right in front of my mouth and the Gopro microphone it right next to it Taped on to the boom.
Your videos are great. I do have a question- The fender wraps you show look like they wraped around its width not just along it. Which vender did you get these from? Thanks, John
I just went to a local wrap shop and I told them exactly what I wanted and they put it on it wraps slightly around the corners but not all the way. And from the bottom about a third of the way up the fender. You can buy a kit from Harley Davidson that does the fenders and a couple more areas if you would like.
Coming from a old school Harley rider what you pay for the trike the person should be allowed to tell the shop what accessories you want on it at no extra charge.
I bought a pack of bungee cords and used The smallest bungee cord cut one and a half stewed it on the door, and use the other end screwed to the luggage rack underneath
You sir I feel are the epitome of a man that has the attention to detail through and through you. There doesn't seem to be anything that you haven't thought of in regards to making your ride as comfortable and efficient as is possible. Right down to using some glue on some straps so that they don't flap around in the wind and put some microscopic scratches on your bikes paint. Some people might think that is being a bit anal but I'm not that some people and I'm impressed with your acute attention to detail. If I were to guess I would say that this very likely extends to other areas of your life. I'm an older fellow that has never owned a motorcycle or trike but have always been fascinated but guys like you that take something they like to do and then do it the right way. I don't have many regrets in life but one I do have is that I wish I would have saw the beautiful freedom of hitting the open road on something like what you have shown me here in your video. I grew up in northeast British Columbia where not a lot of people are into motorcycles and everything that come with owning one. I think it was probably because of the short summer season we had as well as the fact that I had so many other things on the go that my leisure time was taken up with other interests. Now as a 66 year old semi-retired guy with more time on my hands it might sound a bit crazy to some people but I am entertaining the idea of buying either a motorcycle or something with 3 wheels to get out a see a bit more of the beautiful country of Canada. Your video has served as an inspiration that it can be done reasonably comfortably if one is willing to spend the money to do it as I'm sure your beautiful toy is not something that has come cheaply to you. I probably won't go to the extent that you have in equipping your trike but a little at a time I should be able to have something that will give me a lot of enjoyment as I explore places and things that have been put on hold for too long. I decided that you seem to be the type of guy that I can learn from as I get into this new adventure so I have subscribed to your channel with the hope of soon being out and about on a toy of my own. Thank you for your well thought out and very informative video as I look forward to seeing more of them. I noticed that you had a Washington state licence plate and I live in Vancouver BC so we are practically neighbours and will quite likely be down your way in the not to distant future as I have a sister that lives in your beautiful state. Take care and thanks again. 🏍☮✌
Thanks for the reply. I am too detailed about everything. It has to be done, right. I guess I have the attitude of nobody cares about me. I am 67 years old. I don’t know how much more I will be riding. The Triglides ride relatively rough because the shocks are not very good. I ended up getting new shocks this year and it made a world of difference in comfort. I normally just ride around town now here in Spokane. In the past I have just rode around Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and western Montana. That’s all the further I’ve been, but it was a lot of fun the past few years. I thought about all those things I would like to have and I added them and I’m glad I did.
@@stevegonzales3612 Thanks for the reply Steve. As I rode my motorcycle I saw things that I would love like to have that would help me in my travelings. That is one thing I decided I did not want. I know the pros and cons, but I just decided to watch my back up very closely. They do add some weight to Motorcycle.
My wife and I are thinking of getting the same motorcycle you have. Can you please advise as to? Where do you get the handlebars for the pack back passenger. As in the hand rest that are for the back passenger
You can get the handlebars just about anywhere they are khrome works 2+2 handlebars. The passenger armrest are from Harley Davidson. You can call down to the dealer and tell them what you want and they will order them or give you the part number. Also, the organizer that goes on the drivers back rest, the pouches that are for the passenger is Harley Davidson brand. Also, you can get them at the dealer also.
Well, that’s a bummer. I heard legends was good shocks. The DK custom next General shocks that I installed on my motorcycle was a world of different,. Night and day. I almost sold my motorcycle because of the rough ride. Finally I pulled the trigger for $1000 and bought the DK custom next Gen shocks. I don’t even even think about selling the motorcycle now. Made a world of difference.
Thanks for the comment. I got the gas cap magneted from I believe it was Amazon. It’s called: HARLEY DAVIDSON GAS KAP KEEPER FROM RICKRAK.COM PERFECT GIFT IDEA FOR... $14.95
I bought it new in 2020 and the suspension was OK but the more I rode it the more horrible it got. To the point where I almost sold it. Then I order a pair of DK custom 13 inch next GEN shocks. I installed them and it was a world of difference between night and day now I am going to keep my motorcycle.I made a video of installing the shocks. And then I made another video of test riding the shocks out. Well worth the money. But they are a little expensive at $1000. I know other people have put different types of shocks on the rear and it makes a world of difference.
Aw, good observation, and good question. The tank rises up and meets the very tip (1 1/2 inches) of the seat. It rubs pretty good against the tank. I put some thin self adhesive felt down on the tank where the tank meets the seat. I am very pleased with that application. I did that so it would not wear my paint off. The seat goes on and off normally. No issues whatsoever. The very tip of the seat falls short of the center console.
Lol it's me againnnnn... I'm still having troubles figuring out the handle bar situation for my height etc. (I'm lost to be honest) so I went to a Harley store & they suggested trying a reach seat instead... Have you heard anything about them & did this option ever cross your mind to help with your neck & shoulders...
Yes I really like the digital gauges and the handlebars The ram mount arm extension is a RAM-B-200-12U. It is a 1 inch composite double socket swivel arm. Cost somewhere between $11-$16. The handle bar U-bolt base for rails .5 to 1.25 inch diameter either black Ram-B-231ZU Or chrome RAM-B-231U about 17-20 dollars
Thank you for the detailed video. Until watching, I didn’t realize I’d learn so much as I live in the Mojave Desert. Gets serious hot here. I’ve had my legs burned before in my younger days. In short, I will not be buying a trike. Thanks brother and ride safe.
@@windsurfed1 I might buy a used Vespa 300 scooter 🛵 and ride it for knocking around my nearby mountain roads and various errands and such. On serious hot days I want air conditioning
Regarding your aftermarket TPMS system…I went with the FOBO 2 for Trike. It works well, as does the one you selected. ONE CAUTIONARY NOTE: Anytime you add external TPMS sensors to Tri Glide Ultra Classic wheels it is advisable to change the valve stems out to metal from rubber. Even though the sensors are very low mass, the inertia and stress over time can cause cracks in the valve stems which can cause immediate and catastrophic air loss. On the front tire, it is advisable not only to use a metal stem, but an 83 to 90° metal stem, angled towards the wheel centerline. People have noticed in adding an external TPMS sensor to the front stock rubber stem there is LITTLE TO NO CLEARANCE between the front sensor and the brake caliper. This can cause massive problems. Installation of the metal stem as I described for the front wheel eliminates this problem… Ride safe!
Yes I have understood all that you are saying about the remote Tpms sensors mounted on rubber valve stems. I did a video on the Sykik TPMS Monitoring system. I gave my thoughts in the end of the video, about that entire subject regarding rubber tire valve stem versus steel mounted valve stems. Take a look at it and give me your thoughts compared to what my thoughts entail. I am the probably the most safety conscious person on the planet. It is just food for thought about what I think, doesn’t mean it’s correct from your point of view.
They may look nice, but they’re not all that clean. I just took both of them into the local tire store and had them put in steel valve stems. When I got them back, I worked on cleaning them with simple green. Soak them a few times both side scrub them, and they do look nice now. I’ve had motorcycles before where the rims were fantastic for years, but it seems within a year my Harley Davidson rims on the back we’re starting to pit and get stains on them and I could not get them out. So the best I’ve been doing is using mothers, aluminum mag polish sometimes on them, then waxing them.
I had the shop install them. At the time I did not want to mess things up if I did it myself. But now, knowing what I know, I probably would have done it myself.
It’s been awhile since I’ve thought about it. There was for me conflicting static noise if I remember correctly, between the intercom and other Sena riders. I also had trouble with the Bluetooth phone connections. I don’t recall exactly what discouraged me but it was mild enough to convince me to go a different route. Or, maybe it was just me not being able to put it all together to make it work right. I spent quite a bit of time trying to perfect it. It seems there are other riders out there that have the Sena freewire that are perfectly happy. So that makes me think that maybe it was all my fault. I am pretty tech savvy but I still couldn’t figure it out.
Hi it's me again lol... So In your first video you got the trunk lid organizer & mentioned that you didn't want the wall organizer cause you wouldn't be able to fit 2 helmets.. But in this video you have the wall organizer so my question is do you have enough room to fit both helmets & if yes how much room do you have left once both helmets are in??
Good observation. I went ahead and got the wall organizer. And yes it will still fit two full face helmets. But you better not have anything else loose on the floor under the helmet because the lid will not close properly. It is a tight fit. But with one helmet no problem. When both helmets are in you can squeeze little odds and ends between the helmets and into the corners if need be.
After 23 bikes and 52 years of riding with my wife on the back, my question before I buy one is how do you find the stock suspension in particular the rear suspension ?
I could have probably lived with the stock rear suspension but my wife couldn’t. She felt every bump and pothole and it was miserable for her. After 2 years I purchased DK custom next gen 13in Tri glide shocks. Difference between night and day. A wonderful ride ($1000) I Have a couple videos out on installing and another on the test ride. ruclips.net/video/GqCwlXY0hhM/видео.htmlsi=4sCOHUzwHF98N_Cd

Yes, I certainly have, I have around $12,000 in accessories. Ridiculous! I could’ve bought a brand spanking new European motorcycle for that cost. Never will get my money back out of it. One good thought though, should have this bike till I die, and will be able to ride it comfortably with all the accessories. How long that will be is anybody’s guess
Good morning Mr. Mike The purpose of raising the tank is to get more air to circulate and blow on top of the cylinder heads help cool them down better. As you may find out Harley Davidson‘s engines run a little hot. The chairs I got off Amazon for around $55 in the year 2015. They are called”Travelchair Steel Joey Chair,” they are not available on Amazon anymore. But you can find similar chairs, but the price has now skyrocketed. Congratulations on the purchase of your new trike. You will customize it to meet your needs, as I did. Again I am excited for you as you start riding your new trike.
@@windsurfed1 Hi Thx for the reply boy does it get hot wow. lol For your tank spacers one video you have DK rear spacers and one you have the homemade rear spacer what one did you end up using?
@@mikeC-hr4ry the first tank lift kit (one & a half inch deluxe lift kit) I purchased from DK Custom. It came with the one and one half inch front risers and one half inch spacers for the rear of the tank. The quality of their product was top notch. Being the meticulous person that I am, I noticed the gas gauge was not reading the same as it was before I installed the lift kit. I wanted the lift kit but I also wanted in my gas gauge to read as it did when I first bought the motorcycle. So, I purchased a second lift kit from DK custom. This one was a 1 inch kit. It just came with the two front tank riser. I went to the local hardware store and bought 2 spacers to lift the rear of the tank up 1 inch. That leveled my tank back to the OEM level position and my gas gauge reading returned to normal. I also bought their cooling wing deflectors. Which function well and look good.
Is it the Sykik brand system? Battery could be dead in the sensors or sensor. (not likely, but I would check the batteries) Do you get any reading at all? Did you install everything and then take the bike for a ride because It needs to roll a little bit down the road before everything begins to work properly. Is the main unit charged up? If the main unit is charging, you’re not getting a reading, most likely the batteries in the TPMS valve cap sensors are dead. Which is unlikely because each brand new. Anyway, check all batteries make sure they are working and if they are then you probably have a bad head unit. .
Hi. Could you please tell me where I can get the mid step for the HD tri glide ultra. This is my first motorcycle and I’m on the older side of life,so this looks like it is just the thing I need. Thanks
Ok now looking at my video more closely it looks like I sniped 3 wires for the thermostate. At this point and can't recall exacty how we did it. But I remember how simple of a fix it was. I am thinking anybody that knows anything about wiring most likely would be able to figure it out when they look at the situation. I just was't sure at the time and call my next door neighbor. Sorry I couldn't help anymore.
When you get rid of that damn catalytic converter, you won't have near the heat on your legs. That was the first think I got rid of. Put a tuner on the bike, changed air box and exhaust and off with the air starving converter.
I hear you! I've seen many people do that and the heat is tremendously Reduced. You want more power, and reduce heat, the things you are suggesting is the way to go.
Good morning Rick, sorry I did not get back to you earlier. You can get the fender wraps as a kit from the Harley Davidson dealer. I actually went to a Business that specializes in wrapping cars and doing things of that sort. I just had them put it on my fenders for $119
Amazon; Kuryakyn 5208 Lower Fairing Panel Door Pockets with Magnetic Closures for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Black, 1 Pair, L/XL. Right now they’re $85 but I think I’ve seen them cheaper with other brands but they’re the same.
HI!! Windsurfer enjoy your videos on your new Trike. Seems I' m in thoughs of my next Harley being o Trike. But you may like to check out J&S Jack's they have a jack just for Trikes. Have a bless day.
Yes, I have added so much accessories it’s ridiculous. But that’s what I wanted. The amount of money I spent on these accessories I could’ve bought a brand spanking new foreign motorcycle. Isn’t that amazing. But I do like all the accessories.
River rock gray. In the shadows it’s hard to differentiate between the black and the gray. Videos make it look all black but yes it does look good in good sunlight
@@danielstrong8819 I bought my first ones from some company online. I bought my second one from Amazon, which are no longer available. But if you just do a Internet search and type in Motorcycle chairs, it comes up with a lot of options. You just have to sift through the options
bsxgear.com. You can also get them on Amazon or eBay. They are called back aluminized back pads. I had to cut the straps in the back and re-sew some bigger ones on to fit around my leg.
My advice and 2 cents? Put a cooling fan on your ride. Either love jugs or the brand that windsurfed1 has. I have love jug minis (black) on my 2017. Ez to install & get improvement. Also the tank lift from DK customs
Lots of great accessories. Does your tri glide have traction control rain mode? I have a 2021 tri glide and can't get the blue cloud rain mode to light up. I can't find any info on it and my dealer doesn't know.
To tell you the truth, I have never messed around with the traction control apparatus. So to answer your question, I don’t know. Now you got me thinking about it.
I just went through my manual and I cannot find what you were trying to explain to me. Mine just has all off traction control button. Maybe the 21 models are different. If I find anything different I will let you know.
@@windsurfed1 I’m beginning to believe that the tri glides don’t have a need for the rain mode like a 2 wheeler would but I haven’t found the answer yet.
The RDRS, which comes standard on the trikes, can be bought and added to other touring models that don’t have it. However, the regular trikes come standard with the RDRS but minus the TPMS or the hold the bike on a hill feature, or the traction control rain mode. The CVO trike models come with all that. Not for sure if the CVO trike has the hold on the hill feature. Still looking into it all till I can get all the facts.
I do not have the exact model number of the Khrome Werks 2+2 handlebars that I bought for the tri glide. But I did buy them off of Amazon, believe it or not!
Thank you! Also keep these videos coming! My wife and I are going to Laconia this year so I’ve taken a number of your ideas and put the on my bike but you should think about the Legends front and rear shocks well wort the money and get the lift kit for the rears hocks!

@@windsurfed1 But you did🙂. Like I said I loved your video...I mentioned it to my husband who just bought tri and does not know anything about bikes. He's too pig headed to take the course🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@hollywood191 Wow that’s quite a step to buy a brand new trike. He will get used to it if he just takes it slow and easy. He will really like it. And maybe if he gets it set up good enough you’ll be on the back. Yes it’s probably a good idea to take the course. My wife took the regular motorcycle course when she first started riding and she loved it and she said it helped her tremendously.
@@windsurfed1 LOL I don't ride on the back I've been riding since 2011. I suggested he get a bike and take the course. But he opted for a trike due to feet and neck issues.
@@hollywood191 I hear you. My wife just gave up riding her own motorcycle 2 years ago because her eyesight was getting bad. We sold both our two wheelers and bought the Tri Glide. She don’t mind riding on the back. It’s very comfortable especially over long distances and she don’t have to pay attention anymore she says.
Great video...thorough and to the point. I have watched many trike videos, and have not seen ONE that details the riding experience from the passenger's point of view. I guess the question is...what does your wife think of the riding experience? My wife and I rode a TriGlide at a demo, and I don't think she was impressed. Weird that the ladies we have asked about this, seem reluctant to speak freely. Thanks!
We have rough roads here in Spokane. She did not like the ride at first. After fine-tuning the rear suspension her attitude slowly changed. I did a video on the suspension. In the video I left the tire pressure at 26 pounds in the rear tires. I have since lowered them to 20 as I have discovered some new information since that video was out. The suspension is fine for the rider. But the passenger ride is really rough If you don’t fine tune suspension for the passenger. There are other ways to make the Passengers ride more comfortable, usually involves putting new shocks on the rear at a high cost. Have not done it to my bike but it has crossed my mind a few times. But I have already dumped enough money into accessories on this bike to buy a brand new foreign motorcycle. Anyway overall I would say the rear suspension on the Triglides are rough.
@@windsurfed1 Thanks so much. I know DK Customs did a video about lowering tire pressure. Still hoping to get a Freewheeler at some point. We will work on making Mama comfy.
Everyone has their own preferences. I did not like the windshield at eye level. (OEM Windshield) I was either lifting my head above it, or ducking below it. The 15 inch "touring windshield" knocks down more wind from reaching you body and totally reduced the buffettiing of my helmet. I'm not bobbing up and down anymore. Much more relaxing for me. However, The reflection then showed up in the 15 inch windshield from the center (chrome) gas tank console, gas cap cover, and push button, and ignition switch. It can be rather annoying. So I ended up spending more $$ on a black center gas tank console, gas gap cover, gas cap push button, and ignition cover, all black in color. Now I'm happy. Looking thur the windshield is (to me anyway) no worse than looking thru your car windshied. No distortions whatsoever.
I went on DK custom to buy the mid step. Where can I get a pedal, since DK Custom doesn’t offer it? BTW I just got my trike conversion back from IMC Trike. Thanks to you they installed a Baker mechanical Reverse and Recluse clutch.
That’s great you got the mechanical reverse and the rekluse clutch. I think you will really enjoy the rekluse clutch. As for the midstep floorboards; I got my new(OEM) floorboards/foot rest off of eBay for $83. They are just standard OEM issue Harley Davidson passanger/footboards. I believe only the cvo Triglides come with TPMS system. Unless you have a CVO model , Triglide, you will not get TPMS monitoring system unless they added it to the newer models that I’m not aware of. @@windsurfed1 surprised? When you had to put a heat deflector on your Right calf, I felt that heat too. The M8s on a Trike run hot. The rear fenders, tight clearance of tank/ restrict airflow. Hi. New to your channel. I noticed the cool flow fan and was wondering how that has worked out for you. Talked to HD dealership about it and they said they felt they worked pretty good for baggers but the trunk would block air flow and wouldn't provide much relief for the passenger. After 66 years knees are getting questionable and hurt when handling Road King ( backing, stopping on slopes etc.). Looking forward to the Tri Glide and so is the wife. Ride safe.
Excellent work. I’m switching from 2 to 3 sooner than I planned. Great information

I briefly have been in Canada a few times during my travels. Life seems to be winding down for me now a lot of lless enjoyable things in life. I enjoy making videos. I also enjoy motorcycle riding.
Thanks for sharing those addons. I have my 2016 Street Glide Special up for sale as I am moving to a Tri Glide and will add a lot of those items.
Glad I could help you out. You’ll enjoy riding your Triglide it’s a whole New World of stabilization.
I have added (5) upgrades to mine. I'll only upgrade if I feel it's a comfort to me, or my wife. I'll never upgrade for show.
@@stevegonzales3612 Thanks for your reply Steve. All my upgrades that I have, I use constantly. I will never get my money back on any of these upgrades. However it sure makes traveling so much more comfortable and easy. I am thinking that there’s nothing left to put on there. I thought about all those things I would like to have and I added them and I’m glad I did.
@@stevegonzales3612 Thanks for the reply Steve. As I rode my motorcycle I saw things that I would love like to have that would help me in my travelings. And make things a little more easier for my old age. Don’t think there’s anything else that I would need or want to put on. All the things I have on there are very in line with the way I like to ride. However I love a stock engine and that’s where is going to stay have no plans to do any upgrades to the exhaust engine or suspension.

I upgraded my Oem suspension with Harley “ Ledgnd “ suspension front and back, very little difference 🤷♂️. May go back to two wheels!!
Awesome video, Thanks for the info. The magnetic gas cap… where did you get it?
Thanks for the comment. I got the gas cap magneted from I believe it was Amazon. It’s called:
HARLEY DAVIDSON GAS KAP KEEPER FROM RICKRAK.COM PERFECT GIFT IDEA FOR... $14.95
I have a RG3. And the suspension is terrible, how is the suspension on your Tri Glide ??
I bought it new in 2020 and the suspension was OK but the more I rode it the more horrible it got. To the point where I almost sold it. Then I order a pair of DK custom 13 inch next GEN shocks. I installed them and it was a world of difference between night and day now I am going to keep my motorcycle.I made a video of installing the shocks. And then I made another video of test riding the shocks out. Well worth the money. But they are a little expensive at $1000. I know other people have put different types of shocks on the rear and it makes a world of difference.
What does the spacer on the rear of the gas tank do to the fitment of your seat? Is their a gap formed as a result of the height increase?
Have you heard anything about them & did this option ever cross your mind to help with your neck & shoulders...
what length extension did you get for your ram mount? I have 12 inch bars. Also great video on Dakota gauges.
Yes I really like the digital gauges and the handlebars
The ram mount arm extension is a RAM-B-200-12U.
It is a 1 inch composite double socket swivel arm. Cost somewhere between $11-$16.
The handle bar U-bolt base for rails .5 to 1.25 inch diameter either black
Ram-B-231ZU Or chrome RAM-B-231U about 17-20 dollars
Thank you for the detailed video. Until watching, I didn’t realize I’d learn so much as I live in the Mojave Desert. Gets serious hot here. I’ve had my legs burned before in my younger days. In short, I will not be buying a trike.
Thanks brother and ride safe.
Yes glad you could get something out of the video as bikes get hot. Almost all the HD Touring HD’s get that way but I think the trike’s are the worst.
@@windsurfed1 I might buy a used Vespa 300 scooter 🛵 and ride it for knocking around my nearby mountain roads and various errands and such. On serious hot days I want air conditioning
@@garbinator09 I hear you Gary, a Vespa would be nice for doing what you want to do.
Installation of the metal stem as I described for the front wheel eliminates this problem…
Ride safe!
Holy crap!!! Wow awesome info man. I really appreciate that! How much does it cost to install the metal stems?
Question - how do you keep your rims looking so nice. I'm struggling to keep my rear rims clean.
Hey purchased the armrests as shown, in the process of installation. did you do those yourself? Going to the forum for Help
I had the shop install them. At the time I did not want to mess things up if I did it myself. But now, knowing what I know, I probably would have done it myself.
Thanks for the video. What specifically didn't work for you on the Sena Freewire. I was looking into purchasing one to use on my '21 Tri Glide.
@@windsurfed1 Thank you Sir. I enjoy your videos and info you provide.
@@windsurfed1 awesome thanks 👍🏼😊 did you just tape them in or did you screw them in (holes lined up with luggage rack) to make it more sturdy?
What did you use to mount your Gopro remotes to the dash with? Thank you!
I used Velcro to mount the remote to the dash one piece on the dash one piece on the GoPro remote

A wonderful ride ($1000)

It is called River rock gray. It has black painted accents in certain spots and the rest of the color is called river rock gray. Had to pay an extra $1300 to get a two-tone paint scheme. The all black motorcycle was $1300 cheaper
Gotta ask, have you kept track of how much money you have into it in total?… nice machine
Hi great video I get my first trike tonight. Whats the purpose of raising the gas tank? And also where did you get the small chairs? thx
@@windsurfed1 Ok thx and yes for sure I would to wonder why they did it that way. thx buddy.
Okay so I bought the tpms deal. Followed the instructions and it isn’t connecting to the sensors. What do I do now? Thanks
Anyway, check all batteries make sure they are working and if they are then you probably have a bad head unit. .
@@windsurfed1 yes followed all instructions but I didn’t ride it yet. I’ll try that and see what happens. Main unit is charged up.

The RDRS, which comes standard on the trikes, can be bought and added to other touring models that don’t have it. However, the regular trikes come standard with the RDRS but minus the TPMS or the hold the bike on a hill feature, or the traction control rain mode. The CVO trike models come with all that.
@@windsurfed1
Thanks so much. I know DK Customs did a video about lowering tire pressure.
Still hoping to get a Freewheeler at some point. We will work on making Mama comfy.
What’s the advantages of a 15’ “touring windshield “ ? …. You’re going to be looking thur it and not over it .
Just wait for your 1st huge BUG smacking you in the lips, that and less wind in your face or passengers
You can get them at the Harley dealer but you will probably pay around $150. Just guessing
@@windsurfed1 Good for you. I enjoy someone that is as particular and articulate as I am. If I understand you correctly, any Harley foot rest will attach, correct? Does your flip ip and out of the way? Did you have to make any modifications to install the pedal (footrest?
@@buddylafemina4936 So far as I was to understand, any Harley footboards would fit. and yes they do flip up and out of the way. I do have a midstep install video out on RUclips if you haven't seen it already.

@@windsurfed1 I saw it last night. Bought the DK customs Mid-Step and found footboards on EBay for$126.00. You do an incredible job with you videos. Thanks so much.
I’ll be 78 in a few months. These improvements will take me safely into my 80’s.
Thank you very much,
All I can say, Impressive ❤
Impressive yes! But it cost me an arm and a leg, I had to hock my house, and sell my children into slavery to get all that.
Have you added any type of suspension life to improve the ride? Like DK Customs convertible comfort lift.
No i have not added any suspension parts. I'm living with the OEM suspension. As the driver I'm happy with the OEM suspension. When the wife rides on the back she say it's alright but not perfect. I would someday Like to make the ride better for her but I'm waiting for that someone to say."it's a miracle" to the suspension they added. All I'm hearing is "it improved it good".
@@windsurfed1 I'd like to get something like this but I'd like to get the trike suspension kit for a indian I have my eyes on. what is the towing capacity for one of these? I can't find much information on it as I'd like to buy one of those small little single person sleeper trailers you can put behind a motorcycle
@@rohncarver3585 I have seen those little trailers being towed behind Triglide before. But I do not know anything about them. And I do not know the towing capacity of the Triglide’s. But I have talked to a couple of people that do tow these trailers and they seem to really like them. You might go to triketalk.com and scroll down to the Triglide section and ask anybody if they know anything about towing a trailer with them.
On a different subject, have you had any of the faulty rear brake issues that are known on some tri glides
No I have not. I am aware of the whole situation. If I remember correctly there was a certain Vin number that it affected and mine was not there.
@@windsurfed1 Do you remember the year that was affected by brakes? I was in West Va last year in the rain. Started down the mountain and no brakes! I tried "tapping" them to dry them out but didn't work. The dealer told me it was because they were wet - but the other 2 trikes in the group (Honda Goldwing and 2014 Harley) had no issues. Scared the bejeepers out of me!
No, I have not, I believe my Vin number indicated I was not subject to the recall. Even then I have had no issues.
@@kathrynboccia8357 call your local dealer and talk with them or another dealer and talk to them. Give them your Vin number and they should tell you if your bike is affected. That’s not good what you just told me about your brakes not working. That’s basically unbelievable. Get that fixed right away.
Can you give more details on the gauges. How they are installed.
I paid the dealership install them, cost me about, I am thinking $300. The Gauges cost about 900+. I did another video specifically on the Dakota digital gauges 8414. I go into detail but probably some of it is boring
@@windsurfed1 thanks
If your a you tuber, Bob and Tams Excellent Adventures has a video on Dakota Digital gages. It is really a good video. Good luck.
Love all you’re add ons
Yes, they are very nice. However, I figured I have about $12,000 in accessories. Do you know what I could’ve bought for $12,000? Probably a new Asian motorcycle. Or maybe even a Harley
sportster.
is it a real trike or a goldwing with training wheels?
I hear you!
I wish you would have added the links to the accessories
I have thought about that. I don’t really know how to do it and I think it would be a little more difficult. Not sure though I’ve seen others who do that and that is great.
How did you mount the hook inside the rear trunk? TYIA!
I loosened one (I believe there are four mounting bolts and nuts)of the top tour pack nuts. Way up underneath in the trunk area. Then Wrapped the spring around the bolt. And re-tightened the nut.
@@windsurfed1 thank you
@@susanmathews488 It still works good today and gives me peace of mind even though my trunk door has never fallen open again. I lubed the push button on the outside and it is so easy and I have never had a problem with the trunk door since
Are you gonna put any LED lights or pipes on your tri glide ? I put smoked LED tail lights on my tri glide looks better and way better than than the stock lights
No plans for any kind of lights at this time. I would not mind some day putting some undercarriage show lights on such as blue in color so they show up at night.
I am a leave it alone stock type of thinking person. No plans for any engine modifications or custom exhaust pipes. I am not against any of that, I just like stock.
Oh, is there something wrong the factory TPMS system?
I believe only the cvo Triglides come with TPMS system. Unless you have a CVO model , Triglide, you will not get TPMS monitoring system unless they added it to the newer models that I’m not aware of. Mine is a 2020 model and I put the aftermarket TPMS on it. I like being able to monitor rate from my handlebars. On the factory TPMS system you have to scroll through the menu to find it to look at it.
@@windsurfed1 ok that makes sense then. Mine is a 22. It’s there when you cycle through the menus.
@@patriotwoodworker6092 is yours, the CVO model. Mine is not the CVO model? I can scroll through and still get to the TPMS and it will give you a reading, but it is fixed reading because it is not in operation because there is no sensors in the tires. Only the CVO models came with sensors in the tires to feed the TPMS monitor. Again mine is a 2020 so maybe they did come out in 2021 or 2022 with the sensors in the tires I will look into it.
THIS VIDEO WAS VERY INFORMATIVE BUT NEEDS OF DMV ( DRIVE ) TESTING , ALSO BACKING & CURB PARKING TO COMPLETE RIDE.
Yes, I hear you. It could probably use all that stuff. One time I backed up to the curb and just barely scraped my pipes. I learned a big lesson, never to back up to occur again
Boy, you really have your trike tricked out! Harley and the other accessory dealers should give you a stipend for advertising. 😅 I'm in Puyallup, where about are you located?
I live are over in North Spokane. I get over there to Seattle area once in a while to Maple Valley. After I bought the bike I kept seeing things that would be nice to have on it so I started buying. Before I knew it I had about $8000 in accessories&labor. . Wow! Couldn’t believe that. I could buy a new bike.
It seems like you are very happy with the trike so I guess it is money 💰 well spent. Best of luck to you. Black Bike Mike

Link for black console cover please
Bought the black console cover from the HD Dealer. $299.99. P/N 70900501. I just went looking for it but it's not listed on HD web site for parts anymore. That is rather strange. However, if you just type the part number in on a google search it with show up at various dealers which may have them in stock at their dealership. Hope that helps. Might beable to get an aftermarket one off ebay . Same thing just cheaper.
Where did you get the rear spacer for your gas tank. I can find front ones everywhere...
I think I got them at the local ace hardware store. Just took my bolt in and my tape measure and found the one that worked.
Can you post the video on the clutch kit.
I actually did. ruclips.net/video/JIU6eVcLqik/видео.html
If your looking for an easier clutch pull, I put Imberti Cam adjusted clutch lever on mine. Wonderful Difference maker. Especially with arthritis.
Nice Add ons brother….Ride on👊🏻
Thanks James. Cost a small fortune. But I plan on having the bike a long time
I have a 2017. Put Love Jugs minis, the air deflectors & lift kit on mine. Helps a lot. That motor runs extremely hot stock.
@@jamesmandra8695 I heard about some engines running hot. Mostly modified engines, never a stock. I’m surprised.
@@windsurfed1 surprised? When you had to put a heat deflector on your Right calf, I felt that heat too. The M8s on a Trike run hot. The rear fenders, tight clearance of tank/ restrict airflow. It is almost necessary to add cooling accessories like you and I did, in order to have a enjoyable Summer ride. HD should’ve considered that in the design of that fine machine. But it gets you to purchase the add ons.
@@jamesmandra8695 You are correct. I almost forgot about that heat shield. Since I put Jim's Force Flow Fan on and HD cooling fan. I have not even notice any heat on my leg. by any heat on my calfs.
