When it comes time for summer, cool down with a beard. In this video I discuss what makes a summer beard great and how it helps to beat the heat. There are some common misconceptions of summer beards and it's good to know what's true and what isn't.

Obviously I don't have a beard (that would definitely get me looks) but I love your videos! It's good to know that there's someone out there teaching men how to keep/make their beards fantastic. And on behalf of all women who love their man bearded, thank you! And keep it up.

NMy moustache offers great shade....for my lips and small animals that lose their way. I believe the reason that facial hair grows quicker in the summer is to do with the sun and vitamin d production enhancing hair growth. Makes sense that we have a growth spurt

To people who has hair in the summer time.... I used to have real long hair ( top of my head hair ) In the summer time I preferred the longer hair cause when i sweat it cooled you off when the wing blew. Now since i am a shaved head man now in the summer time the sun makes y heade hotter than having my longer hair. It all a myth don`t not feed in what others think about having long hair or short hair. I am NOT disagreeing what the Beard Baron is saying here what so ever . He is very much correct !!!

Lol 80 degrees. That's nice cool weather for us. :pAnd yea it always seemed counter intuitive but i never really noticed the beard making my face hotter. As you said, i actually find it results in the skin under my beard being much more protected than the rest of the face. In areas with a strong sun you can really feel the difference

Nice video, articulate, and handsome man! :-) Btw, I know why beards grow faster during the summer, that's because in the summertime your sexuality is more challenged by the many looks of naked skin, the male body makes more testosteron hormone and as a side effect the beard grows faster.

Good video! People ask me as well if my beard makes me hot, but really, it doesn't.
However, summer is a killer for my beard in Cyprus! It can get to 40oC here and my beard gets all curly at the sides, even though I try to straighten it! I'm just waiting for the sides to grow longer so that is hangs down!
    Cheers Beard Baron! :)

    Hey John,
With Spring/Summer coming up, and as someone who also loves traveling to Hawaii, have you given any thought to doing a video on how to maintain beard health during these months and when traveling to warmer climates, especially those where we subject our beards to salt water conditions?
Would the best course of action be to oil prior to going swimming, snorkeling, etc, then rinsing thoroughly as soon as possible afterwards and apply oil as normal as you would after a shower? I know these conditions can make the hair course and brittle, so it would be great to hear your thoughts.

I love my beard until I train water ski events. Beard gets in the way on pyramid pulls. It gets stepped on. The worst thing ever happened, one of the girls on my ski team slipped on my wet beard after the 5 high pyramid was up and 3 people were injured. I didn't cut it or trim it. I used a curling roll to roll it up with a clip. No more problem.

Mr. Baron. Fellow beardster here. Quick question; I haven't laid a blade on my face for going on 4.5 months. I mean nothing. I mean the hair is up to outer end of my eye socket...which I love...what will happen if I absolutely don't trim at all? I am going for the "all out, don't want to trim, let it go where it wants to go, I really don't want to shave anything look". It's getting good volume, with tons of red, brown, almost blondish and white hair look.It is growing rather "wild". What are the negative and positive ramifications if I don't shave at all?
    Signed,
    A fellow beardster.

Thanks for watching! If the longer hairs are really bothering you then use a pair of scissors to only trim those specific hairs. Don't get carried away with trimming as you will put your beard at severe risk. Just go slow and steady and know when to stop and you'll do just fine.

Hello Beard Baron, I just have a quick question. It seems that the hair grows faster and thicker on my right side than my left side. This isn't much of a problem for my beard but the thicker I let it grow the more noticeable it is when it comes to my mustache. Any thoughts on how I can get it to grow thicker on the left side or a trimming strategy for the right?

    • @thebeardbaron

I have some similar areas on my beard in which I have to strategic trim in order to match. Just try and match it and you will get better over time spotting the areas and how much to take off.

Beard Baron, my fuzz is 9 1/2 months. It is full and thick and my hairs are 6+ inches long. All through last fall, winter and spring I didn't loose many hairs but as soon as it has gotten warm I seem to be shedding some hairs. Not a large amount but I seem to loose a few hairs every time I brush. It's a good brush and I used it all fall, winter and spring without any problems. I even tried several different brushes including boar hair with no difference. I use oils and balms so I keep it conditioned and well kept. Have you noticed more hair shedding in the hotter weather?

    • @thebeardbaron

Var Tower Hey Var, losing hairs is common while combing/brushing. That's why I usually recommend limiting those actions to just a few times a day. Perfectly normal though.

Watta great beard I really like your beard, I been growing my beard for 4 months nw, nd its really big, I haven't use any oil or anything, cuz in my culture ppl say leave it natural, is that ok??, and If you wash your beard daily is it gonna effect it or something, thank you, I hope you could reply ....

      @thebeardbaron  10 лет назад

Hey Ramii, I believe when people refer to keeping a beard natural they mean not to cut it or shape it. It's perfectly fine to use beard oil as it's all natural. I would only wash my once a week and for the other times just use water.

You can continue to use whatever acne treatment you like. It might not be the best for your beard but your skin is just as important.

And is it necessary to go to a barber to get my beard in shape? I want a long classy beard! But other than keeping the neck line and cheek line clean do I need to ask the barber to trim the beard too?

  • @SuppaflyZSM

Do you trim the sides of your beard or just comb it down? It definitely looks longer than wide.

I would love to know HOW YOU EAT? I always ended up getting mustache in my mouth. So now I just trim that and grow out the beard portion.

I know there is another guy on youtube who made a video about how to eat with a beard.
Use straws insted of drinking directly out of the glass or use a smaller spoon when eating soup, cerial or whatever, and if you eat a sandwitch with something that you spread on it hold it upside down that way only the bread will touch the mustache.
And another thing it to insted of opening your mouth normaly do it with almost like a smile so that there is less of a ''curtain'' effect.
These are just a few of the tips he had, I only watched the first like 8 min of the video and it's like 20 min long :P
you can watch it here /watch?v=LFpB8BQXUKA

My stache hangs down over an inch past my bottom lip and is full and thick. I let it grow long enough so I can comb it to the side and using stache wax will make a big difference. I don't do the handlebar thing. I just put in some wax and comb it to the side for a natural look. The wax waterproofs and seals the stache making it a lot easier to eat and drink. The hard part is letting the stache grow long enough to be able to control it. There is a time when it's long enough to be in the way but too short to control. You just have to deal with it the best you can until it gets longer. Other than that, experience is your teacher.

Like halfstep67said experience is the teacher but I will be posting a "how to" video on eating soon which I'll give some tips and tricks to make it a bit easier.

Summer is coming up pretty quick in phoenix az. Any tips on which is better beard oil or balm? I use a beard balm now. Dont want it to melt with the heat. 110 degrees on a good day

It isnt as bad as people think. Kinda keeps your neck cool. Especially if you dampen your beard a little, its like a mini swamp cooler. Ive never used beard balm in this heat. I dont want it melt off onto my shirt.

I just started to grow my first beard on 1st of aug. and btw, I am 27 almost. It is going really slow for me and it doesn't really look that great now, I wonder how many weeks do I have to endure to have a quite decent, bearable to look at beard?

    • @thebeardbaron
      @thebeardbaron  10 лет назад

André Antoine It all depends on the rate of growth but it could be anywhere from 4-8 weeks is a great start.

unknown - Low stress is key to overall health for the body. Easier said than done but is definitely important to all the major functions of the body including hair growth.
