Such a truly beneficent and kind empire! The Legion shall have our loyalty forever (probably because the Inquisitress will find us and give us happy new life as a Thrall if we don't offer eternal gratitude and loyalty)
It's a good thing that the thralls are basically attack-move units you don't need to care about while you micro a handful of unique units. Also, loved the tongue-in-cheek explanation^^
The Legion even provides healthcare for its citizens! Here is a healing aura to spruce them up after a fight. Also in the last few seconds of the reveal: thralls sacrificed 60 and rising. Awesome looking reveal! Really excited to potentially see more of this.
'The Legion even provides healthcare for its citizens! Here is a healing aura to spruce them up after a fight.' - *Crucifies one of the thralls to heal the others.*
I imagine a league of legends bush, like half a meter in each direction and barely taller than grass and inside it is just an entire production line for the terror tank
C&C's MARV, SC2's Taldarim, WH40K's Imperial Guard ... I love seeing all the inspiration from other RTS series at work here! Also Grant's tongue-in-cheek descriptions made me laugh.
Not to mention the Terrortank reminds me of the Hierarchy walkers from Universe at War. They had up to eight hardpoints that could be upgraded with weapons you could destroy individually. I love the Legion, they really care about their citizens!
@@adams13245 The Terror Tank reminds me of a mix between the alpha Thor from SC2, the Xanthos from Nova Covert Ops, the Maus tank and the Space Marine/Imperium Tanks. Really neat.
The Legion seems to have the oppressive air of the Imperium, and SOME of the aesthetics, but not requiring any of the English Gothic aesthetic that I've gotten REALLY tired of. They also don't need to copy the uniforms or vehicles from the early 20th century.
What a good faction, even the basic unit of this faction is given the name of the greatest orc warchief to honor their dedication to the legion. They even sacrifice themselves to make sure their leader alive. What a chad faction
The models\texturesanimations still look like they're a very early iteration, but thats some incredibly good looking movement and map geometry. Looks like its coming along well.
I love how well designed this faction is. I like that you went with specific inspirations, picked a theme, and stuck with it. I see elements from C&C's Brotherhood of Nod, 40K Space Marines, BFME Mordor and the Tal'darim from LotV, but they're not just a riff of of any one of them. They're not just "the subversive/hit-and-run faction" or "The numbers faction" or "the expensive but powerful unit faction". All of the factions have specific themes that they fit, rather. That makes for much more interesting and diverse factions. Glad to see the Terror Tank being a unit that's built on the battlefield - not unlike that alpha SC2 Thor!
@@justanoman6497 While the MARV is GDI, maybe they meant Nod from a lore standpoint. In TW lore, Nod had a hi-lo mix to their army, where their lower ranks were made up of masses of relatively untrained but loyal fanatics, supported by a small number of elite troops using cutting edge technology.
@@emilchan5379 I felt that bit is more 40k imperium, which he also mentioned. Thralls felt more indoctrinate from youth than fanatical for a cause to me, but we'd have to wait for the lore and campaign to really know.
@@justanoman6497 Yeah, it's similar to the GDI MARV in terms of visual design and having 4 slots, but Nod's epic unit also has 2 slots, so it's not *too* dissimilar. Oh, and something I noticed later - that key art of the Legion shows a Legion hero with a helmet not unlike the helmets from Big Bad Beetleborgs (with the bug antennas).

hm, as i'm watching i already can put on the table that it is quite a promising faction indeed, only thing that bothers me a bit is the terror tank's beeing so... compact, i'm no designer and i of course know most of this stuff is beeing worked on, but the tracks i think should be more protruding towards the edges to make it less box shaped (think at a rectangle seen from above with smaller rectangles that have each their centers exactly on the 4 angles, kinda like the mammoth tank forom c&c)
Game is unimpressive visually atm. But it is REALLY impressive in terms of game design. I am totally looking forward to play it, even if graphics won't change at all. But if they would... Oh God, that's some hot game right there xD
I love everything about this game. The concepts are amazing and the emphasis on customization is commendable. However, the models are so intricate for their size that I can't see anything.
Hey! Are you guys affected by the Unity kerfluffle? I got really worried for a bunch of games after what unity did, and with so much work already done, I feel it would sting extra hard if unity did something and the game got delayed.
If you guys are taking suggestions maybe give the front line melee units more of a sword and board feel, more like Roman legionnaires, with large shields and oversized power swords?
okay the look cool.I ahve no idea why I got cyborg roman vibes, but like... something about them gives me a more militarist, knighty elite soldier vibe from their design. They look so shiny. :D
i like the concept, especially the multiturret tank (kinda like a 40k predator), but aesthetically speaking i find that tank extremely dull, it's like a moving rectangle with guns instead of something immediately recognazible as a mobile fortress/mbt, just my two cents btw
The faction seems like it has an incredibly low skill floor and being the hardest faction to use but could be the strongest race when mastered… or require too much skill investment for little reward. Definitely interested to see the moba heroes + custom tank faction in action
The faction looks interesting, but, no matter how hard I try to be interested in this game, I feel that, like so many post 2000 RTS, it looks and feel weightless, or impactless? Melee units dash through other units and nothing happens, big tanks fire at a small unit and the later only lose some HP, big fireballs are thrown around and nothing happens except for a HP bar slowly depleting... Where's the omph? Total Annihilation, back in 1997, had missiles and guns exploding units, debris flying all over the place, nuclear explosions that'd shook your screen. I know it's a preview, so I hope they can seriously improve on this before release.
Interesting mechanics, but I think the art and animations are a bit silly, it seems to be this dark empire but they kinda give off power ranger vibes. Ditching the capes would probably be a good step in revising the art.
when I saw the harvester thrall the only thing I could think of was: From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. One day the crude biomass you call the temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal… Even in death I serve the Omnissiah.
Suggestion: an 'idle' animation for the melee soldiers, where they yawn and stretch their big scissors. (Only when the hero isn't watching, obviously - stretching is wasting energy)
So, this is a "What if we turn Imperial Guard into Chaos, and then mix them with Dark Eldar" faction. Looks pretty cool. Hard to balance, I would say, but still.
I love the inspiration from the tal darim here, I feel like its that with a slight dash of warhammer 40k which is REALLY cool. I honestly cannot wait until this game hits open beta. I think zerospace and stormgate both are going to give the genre the jolt it needed. keep up the amazing work!
A few elite commanders with good equipment, and an army of disposable suicide thralls. So this is basically a Wagner Group in Bakhmut, circa February simulator.
Yuri mechanics (red alert 2) + Strogg cyborgs (quake 4) + Imperium Servitors (40k). Incredible design direction. The thralls being cheap + having no upgrades is an interesting take. Though long term, it might feel bland for them never having any upgrades to spice up their game play for the mid or late game? My immediate thought was an idea from 20 years ago when i played yuris revenge as a kid. Turning the Grinder into an Upgrade Center for the faction. Initiates would gain more HP when you sacrificed Brutes. Engineers would gain movement speed when you sacrificed Initiates. Brutes would gain resistance to more damage types when you sacrificed Engineers, ontop of gaining the ability to swim and attack ships at maximum level. Each unit has a "pool" and each pool has a cap. Each unit providing more to their pools in relation to how much the unit costs, providing more or less towards unlocking the upgrade. Once the pool is maxed out the unit gets the upgrade. I doubt anyone's looking through youtube comments for feedback, but im just excited. Cant wait to play all these new factions. Its so refreshing to finally see a dev team make an RTS that actually takes advantage of modern software to fill their game with factions to play.

Will we be able to roll over enemy units, especially vehicles, with Terror Tanks like in C&C?

Those look like a child between necrons from and the mechanicus from Warhammer
what a cool nation where everyone is treated well and equall surely it must be a great place to live in
I cant wait to build my Leman Russ battle tank's in the name of the legion :)
have a wonderful rest of your day as well
This was clearly inspired by Mengsk from SC2 Coop
Thralls and troopers are cheap disposable armies
Commanders and royal guards are elite units with powerful abilities
Terror tanks can be individually equipped just like troopers
Obelisks are somewhat similar to the bunker drop ability
Love how RUclips just assumed that this was SC1
I like the ideas you are eager to impliment
This faction begs for a mind control mechanic to create thralls from enemies. It's just generally hard to implement
3 Alerac Coop Comander with a sc2 beta buildable Thor/BC and deploy pylon
we not gonna talk about how to make a healing aura he just executes a soldier xD
Galavax on my small screen was looking as if he running with a stiff white flag :P
Sounds like an interesting faction!
awesome job grant
I'm doing my part!
Definitely very cool concept. The movement on the terror tanks is a bit jarring. Hopefully can get the right animation speeds balanced with that, and I have full confidence they will, but I couldn't appreciate the unit that well while seeing how it moved compared to its bulk >.
Mom Can WE get a Warhammer 40k Faction Imperium army?
Mom: WE already have a Warhammer 40k faction AT home.
The faction AT home:
It would be nice if Kragar could have a distinctively big gun...he looks a bit like a regular thrall as is...
So which one of them is more like the "Commissars" in Warhammer 40k? ;)
Basically Mengsk from coop with BANEBLADE!
This is getting out of hand! Now there are three of them!
Finally some lawful good faction, for the emperor!
Clearly the terror tank's customization is from SC2 beta's (cut) customizable battlecruisers
this looks great Im looking forward to it
Grant really wanted do build a super unit on the field and not from factories, eh?
