ZeroSpace is an awesome RTS with some huge names from SC2 helping in development, current Alpha stage is open until 22nd of January so I might stream it a bit on my twitch channel :) Make sure to check out and let me know what you thought!
The game gives some first dawn of war vibes. And there the usage of hero units was perfect. Also playing for map controll was very good - capturing towers. And I loved how actuall units were in squads moving together.
This looks a lot more interesting to me than Stormgate so far. Seems like it'll be a nightmare to balance but all the varying options between races, mercenaries, abilities etc is really cool.

TIL that ZeroSpace and Stormgate are separate games. I saw Stormgate trailer some time ago forgot how it was called. Then ZeroSpace came and I was like "ah yes, that is the new RTS I saw some time ago".
@@VittamarFasuthAkbin You said it. Both sc1 and sc2 look far better than this game even being 20 plus years old. I get that this is a beta but man the art design looks so generic. Nothing feels cohesive its like they pulled random designs out of a bunch of games and through it together. With modern engines and far more power than ever I expected something a little more inspiring in 2024. This game looks like a free to play game from 2014.I get that its an indie game but doesn't excuse such poor art direction.
Yes! Funny that i spend immeasurable amounts of time in Age of Empires 3 in the childhood and yet not get this analogy faster. That was a very clever designed unit. He even do tiny amount of damage against workers, so player with better micro cant harass out enemy economy from first minutes with Explorer, you need actual combat units for this.
To me this looks way better than Stormgate, The unit clarity here is great in comparison and gameplay easier to follow. Also looks like it is a lot further along in development. Exciting times for RTS :) this one is looking great!
I love SC2, but it's always good to see more modern RTS. I used to take them for granted in late 90s and 00s, since there was a new RTS every week back then, but now you really have look out for a good one. I also played Tempest Rising demo, and it seemed pretty decent as well, so hopefully we'll get some new stuff soon
This is looking really good. Aesthetically I'm totally sold on it. The animations feel a bit clunky still, like that snowman walking on air, wtf, and some other animations of units moving kinda lifeless. But overall, it looks really good to me. Hope I can understand the mechanics a bit better so I can determine if I'll really enjoy it. Would love to see more spell casters, or maybe in this coulpe of games I they didin't make much.
100% I think it’s good to remember this is still in alpha There will be LOTS of room to grow (and polish) What I think is good to look for in alpha is just the ‘feel’ of the game
I love this game right away, the vibe is so refreshing after watching a ton of sc2. I love the vivid colors of this tree bug race, love the concept of a conquering race that seems to be bringing life and beauty instead of just an ugly ass creep with body horror elements to everything for the sake of being more 'alien'. Everything about this game is interesting, from the xp towers to the mercenary choices to the infuse ability, which looks so freakin cool. I think the only thing I didn’t like was the heroes, but as the game progresses they become less significant, and I can't deny they add a lot to the early game and make it more interesting. The mercenaries especially are nice, it seems like players will have the option to counter specific units by using different mercenaries, which makes the overall strategy more important than just surprise. I would love to see more of this game on your channel Therm. It's really cool.
TTK not so big i think (but still bigger than in Starcraft 2? But its because SC 2 have very small ttk comparing to all other RTS) so yes, must be animations and sound, and this all be fixed in time.
I see that someone learns from StarCraft - the units are distinct and easily identifiable, which is a must for any proper RTS game, since if it takes more than a split second to figure out what units you are looking at, then the player base will remain very casual at best...
Yes please, more of this! The units of this game are very visually different from each other, so it's easy to watch. Also the tons of new stuff is wonderful to see!
readability on this is so much better than stormgate or aoe4, very good to see I'm extremely against heroes and loss based comeback mechanics but it's refreshing to see them done in a way that actually looks like. it can. be fun, never expected to be saying that
The constant recalls seem extremely irritating to me. At very least they need to increase the cooldown / recall capacity. Full army recalls on every bad push, just makes commitment meaningless
I'm just 10 minutes in, finished the intro and my first thoughts are good. THIS is what Stormgate's graphics should have looked like. Like an in-between of brood war and sc2. Not cartoony, aesthetically very pleasing.
I actually really like how this game feels right now. Like we don't need another sc2, we already have one,so it's good that's this game is different from sc2 and wc3, because it adds layer of quality. This game has clearly something to say new to the rts genre. Compare to stormgate, with feels like crappy miz of wc3 and sc2.
The viewpoint looks much better than Stormgate (less on top if that makes sense) and visibility is better but I really don't like heroes and seems a bit more complicated than SC2 for buildings etc.. The beauty of SC2 is it's simplicity almost with buildings and units. A few too many spells tbh but i'll keep an eye out. Seems more promising than SG tbh
Cool, thanks uThermal, glad to see ZeroSpace video!!! And would be great to see more of those! Interesting to know more about game mechanics and what's new comparing with other games!

I'd rather play this one than Stormgate. There's something off in Stormgate that I can't pinpoint, but here, Zerospace goes to the right direction. It's readable, the mechanics look cool, etc
That map looks suspiciously MOBA-esque. I'm firmly in the "no heroes"-camp, I believe hero-based RTS naturally evolved into MOBAs because otherwise it's a half-and-half that does neither big army or involved hero combat particularily well. Now of course this is all very overwhelming on first glance, as soon as Marcs "basic explanation" was over my eyes still glazed over. I'm sure there's a good game here but heroes and mercenaries immediately makes me wary. It just feels like this game is doing too much at once. Again maybe it all makes sense after a game or two but it really seem to lack the simplicity of Starcraft.
Anyone feel free to disagree by any means.. I’ve always wished for an RTS to have a ‘hero’ which isn’t necessarily ‘picked by choice’ but has come out through the battlefield from kills and survival. So like a marine with 5 kills through to 30 it would unlock and evolve into a hero. I think it would make for an awesome element.
@@kriiistofel Perhaps you have Offensive heroes that are acquired by killing, and Defensive heroes that are stronger for catch-up mechanics which are acquired by lone survivor type situations? So someone who is losing would still be able to get a Hero naturally too.
I think between this and stormgate, we will have rts that will satisfy both groups of rts players. I still think stormgate has more long term potential with the whole package but this will probably be the better 1v1 game
I know it's just Zerg, but plants. The buildings and the grass look so good. Especially in the desert. It really adds to the bug motif. 10/10 design. I hope Stormgate infernals give off that vibe in the final build. This game looks like it's Halo Wars 2 meets Starcraft 2, and I'm here for it

The reason the behemoths seemed weak is bc you didn't use their ability, the faerie fire sets the ground ablaze and deals a ton of damage.
