Thanks for the awesome video!. My collection room is twice as big as yours, but much more poorly displayed..things are everywhere and stressful to look at. Watching your amazing video has give me a new appreciation for my own collection. I'm a 50/50 loose to box collector. After your video, I've managed to condense my collection by being smarter as to what I want display to make my room look remotely as nice as yours. My wife still hates my collection room but now she's more tolerable of it...Thank you...and definitely a new fan of you.!
Wow! What a great compliment! I'd love to see what you have done. I'm always impressed by MIB collectors - first for your restraint, and second because there are times where the box art is superior to the toys. Keep watching, I've got more coming!
This is beautiful🔥🔥my room is full of figures but obviously not as much as this. What you have on display is insane and it’s my goal to have this many figures. My collection is growing and growing
Looks great well done..I did a similar thing last summer..re did my toy side and focused it 100 % on my Star Wars 3.75 vehicles and 6 " vehicles..I am much happier now..also am working slowly on the rest of the room..enjoyed the video.
I appreciate you getting what I am trying to do. As you can see, it is not always about having the "most rare" or "most expensive" figures. I try to display the things I love - especially stuff that I either had - or wanted - as a kid. I am particullarly proud of that 70's-80's Sci Fi display - let me know if you would be interested in a deeper dive into that shelf
Good luck - would love to see what your finished display looks like. Putting the planning work on the front end makes a huge difference - I still ended up making changes as the figures went on the shelves (and the display is dynamic - figures come and go all the time) - but I would have been lost without a plan
Thank you for this man! Seriously surprised you don’t have more views and likes. I search videos on toy collections daily and wow man this is a great setup and brings justice to your collection
I really appreciate the feedback! I am just getting started on RUclips - been at it less than 2 months now, but I obviously have years of collecting behind me and I want to share that knowledge and passion. Check out some other videos and spread the word - I'd love to continue to grow this community!
The museum look was what I was going for - now as new figures come in, I have to make sure I keep it clean and not let it get way overcrowded. Thanks for watching - much more to come!
Very cool video. Just went through my collections (to catalog and see what I had). Now looking for ideas of shelving and display. Thanks for the ideas. You have an awesome collection!
Thanks! You have definitely made the first step - figuring out what you have and what you want to display. Why do we buy all these things if we don't show them off a little - at least to ourselves? Would love to see your collection when it comes together
@@CarbonScoring I some pics up but man, I don't remember buying half the stuff I have. Hahaha I have everything spawn / horror mxfarlane toys ever made, star wars, gi joe, just completed the super naturals, rambo, swamp thing and sectaurs lines. I think I need a bigger house. Hahah
That is actually a great idea. I forgot to mention that I have a dehumidifier down there as it can get wet/moldy in the basement. That seems to have helped with dust some as well. For the Hot Toys, a simple feather duster seems to work best
Compressed air dust can Usually in camera section Walmart... Soft feather duster. I ended up with commercial grade 7 ft long display cases. Got them cheap but are a pain to set up because the doors are on the back and the cases stay close to the wall.
I have unpacked my boxes from the late 90s and I have many series of the Spawn figures in the box. I now am in a new home and have room in the man cave to set something up. Any ideas on how to set up boxed figures? I have over 40 or so maybe more and not sure if I should use push pin hooks, floating shelves etc. I was almost gonna unbox all of them and set them up how you did, but I'm so undecided.
I'ma a let them out of the box kind of guy, but when you have kept them in box this long, that display would look really good! Floating shelves would be a easy way to do it and would allow for plenty of light (something that can be a real issue for bookshelves) and would be easily converted if you wanted to do something different with your display
Three of my favorite cartoons , Star Blazers , Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets in America) and the ultimate Anime ... Speed Racer. But I could never find the action figures when I was a kid and if you find them now , wow , they are expensive. If you get the original figures that is. I'm not crazy about the new speed racer or the gatchaman crowds , but I'll sit and watch the original cartoons all day every day if I could. 👍👍👍✌✌✌
I'm said before but it warrents saying again. AMAZING collection and inspirational displays. Question how do you deal with the mold be in a basement and what is your cleaning and figure maintenance entail?
@@gilmardeledon7404 Good to know - glad there are more Robotech lovers out there - I have some more Macross and Robotech stuff to display - I will definitely work on a video soon
Great display. My biggest question is how do you keep track and inventory everything? I've been collecting for 30+ year, moved twice and no idea where some of my stuff is or how to go about recording everything so someone esle could make sense of it.
Ha! That is what my Mystery Box videos are for! In all seriousness, I keep the figures I am not displaying in sealed tupperware bins - typically sorted by theme (DC Direct, Transformers, ect) Sadly, while most are in a storage unit, some are still in the attic, others still in a closet. As I go through these videos, I am trying to get things more and more organized - but, yeah, it is a big task
I've been collecting what I like for a long time, not as big as others collections, but finally capped my space. Now I need to "retire" some. My question is how do you put action figures away? Or just throw them in a storage bin and call it a day.
Terrific question. Short answer is I throw them in storage bins. Especially for older Marvel Legends figures, that is what I did years ago. Now, I am taking a journey through those old bins in this playlist - check it out, it is pretty fun. ruclips.net/p/PLSzRX3RdKSyjkjpSj4_n_633r4GZWDuz1 But more recently, as I am a loose collector and not someone who saves the packages, I have been bagging figures with their accessories, either individually or in the waves they come in and putting those bags in bins - that has made it MUCH easier to find what I am looking for when setting up a new display of making a video. As I go through these Mystery Boxes, I am trying to organize my figures better, so that I can get to what I need much easier
Had to go down and measure. The base is 32 inchec in diameter. The glass on levels 2, 3 and 4 are 28 inches in diameter and he height of the whole unit is 68 inches. That puts the top above eye level for me, but still easy to see and since you come down stairs to the room, you still can see the full display. I had a local custom cabinet maker build it for me to my specifications - this was their second try - they built the first one and it was too big to get down the stairs and around the corner, so they had to redo it and assemble it in place. It was a balance between getting it big enough to hold the toys, while still being able to comfortably walk around it. Thanks for asking! I am planning on doing a video of my Star Wars Legos down the line!
Do you think it is possibel to do this but a lot smaller? Because I collect comics but would olso love to have some legends on display. And you have anamazing room!
Yes! It is 100% possible. The first thing you need to do is decide what you love the most and what you want to display. If you are a big X-Men fan, then go for that. Next - set a budget. I can't stress how important this is. I would start by looking for loose figure lots on ebay - they are much cheaper than carded figures and if your goal is to display them, all the better! Do a little research and planning and you can quickly have a display that you are proud of. Plus, this is over 40 years of collecting - none of this happened overnight
@@CarbonScoring thx for that advies. I am going to look. I 100% want to make a iron man dis play . So might start with that. But then go to the avengers and find my way.
Thank you for sharing some great ideas. I absolutely love your vintage Star Wars 3.75 display. Is this a design you could share or did you have it professionally built?
It was custom made about 12 years ago and unfortunately the guy has stopped making them. Thanks for noticing - it makes for a fantastic display of that collection!
This is beautiful and all, but why would you take everything out of their original package? Honest question because I want to show off my collection but I don't want to open anything.
So, there is nothing wrong with being a mint in package collector. Sometimes I see people display their figure still in package and I am like Oooooooooo! But for me it comes down to two things. The first is space constraints. But the second is the real reason - I just love holding these toys in my hands and fiddling with them - I love posing them and setting up these displays. Again, to each his own, but for me - I like putting the ACTION in action figures!
Ooh, even though that circular multi-tier display thing looks good. I don't I think it looks good in that room in the middle blocking the walls. That Center display was better with a single focal point I believe
It is always a struggle - maximizing display space while maintaining cohesion and optimizing views. I appreciate you watching and your feedback - it does look different in person and the open aspect of it still allows the displays behind it to shine
@@CarbonScoring All good I was hoping you had a secret lol. Any suggestions on flight stands? Some look cheaper than others but might be fine hence why I am asking. Thanks loved the video and new subscriber!
