    My favourite youtuber for electrical content..
    I have a question, is it acceptable to lim the supply characteristics if you cant gain access to the LV plant room on a commercial/industrial complex?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  7 месяцев назад

      If its a genuine limitation then state the reasons clearly and have your customer acknowledge that. Personally, I've never been denied access to a plant room. Thanks for watching. Dave.

      @learnelectrics4402 Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yeah I was having a conversation with my boss about this.
      He said on an eic, as you are certifying that you couldn't have a limitation. But sometimes it's impossible to get a true ze, and check fuse sizes etc.

    If you change a consumer unit & issue a EIC it seems you cannot put a limit for not testing between live & neutral because there are lots of downlights installed & it’s not practical to bypass them

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  7 месяцев назад

      The new regs expect you to test at 500V insulation Resistance on an EMPTY circuit and then test at 250V on a circuit with appliances fitted. If you change a consumer circuit, you automatically adopt the whole installation, its all your baby. Hope this helps. Dave.

    Hi sir , I have questions about fill EIC
    The consumer unit main switch is RCD so the RCD protects 6 way consumer unit.
    Every circuit has MCB circuit breaker
    When I fill out the circuit details and test I should put the RCD 61008-1 on the RCD section and RCD measurement for each circuit and tick the test button it’s right ?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  Год назад +1

      It sounds like you have an RCCB as a main switch. No problem. Whichever circuit has the highest Zs, test it on that circuit and record that as your RCD result. Always choose the worst case figures, because everything else will trip quicker than the highest Zs circuit.
      Have a look at this video about the different devices. The link below will take you to it. Thanks for watching.

    Nice one another great video of clear information 👍 looking forward to the other videos of minor works etc 👍 just thinking about when a sparks does work and fills in the , description, say moved light switch ,spur socket . Do sparks have to put down junction boxes used ,exact place of socket ,type of wagos connectors,capping used etc or is it literally... additional socket in bedroom and moved light switch? Cheers

    • @learnelectrics4402

      Does a brickie give you GPS coordinates of each brick he lays? Who made the cement he used and what size bags it came in? No, he tells you he has built a house.
      All the certificate needs to know is what the job was and that it is safe. New CU installed would do. No need to put the make etc. No need to put types of breakers on the certificate because these will go on the more detailed schedule of test results. The certificate is just - I came, I did and its safe.
      I always suggest being specific about location of the work in case something goes wrong elsewhere in the house and you get the blame. In the lounge, garage sockets etc. I've had this with a house fire. The light switch in the kitchen caused a small fire a month after I was there. My certificate proved that I worked on the lounge sockets.
      Hope this helps. Dave.

    These videos have helped massively. Just quick question please if you don't mind. When filling in the test results under protective device in using RCBO you put in 61009 and next the type... If using a type A RCBO would A go in this column or would you use B as its the curve. Thanks

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  3 года назад

      Type B for the overcurrent curve, 32 amp B type, 16 amp B type etc. Nothing wrong with putting Type A RCBO in the comments if you wish. The more info the better for anybody following behind in a year or two. Good question. Dave.

    Great videos, so much information. Have a question. If you putting in a new circuit from existing supply and consumer unit. From the meter in 25mm² Tails it goes to a switch with a bs1361 60A fuse then 16mm² T&E to the consumer unit. How would you fill this out in the form? Thank you

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  2 года назад

      If the T/E is in free air or clipped direct then I would go for worst case which is 60A with 16mm T/E as Iz for the cable is 85A.
      AND record in comments section of certificate about the change from 25mm to 16mm etc.
      Any other installation method, check your figures on page 409 of Regs.
      Good luck, good question. Dave.

    Hi Dave. Hope your well big fan of your videos . Just seeing if you could help me. Currently a self employed electrician. Done my apprenticeship over 14 years ago. Recently gone out on my own and currently doing a qsq course which provider has taken ages. So currently not registered to napit or neic got all the paperwork. Done my 18th edition 2391 testing and inspection. Been asked to test a commercial property got insurance ect. Can’t seem to find much information.
    Are my ok to do this even though im not Registered?
    Any information would be great. Thanks

      The Regs require you to be competent and skilled in the work to be undertaken. That is it. Nothing about qualifications etc. Its down to you, are you skilled at what you have been asked to do, competent and with the necessary tools and insurance. Can you fill in the EICR forms correctly etc. A commercial building is outside the scope of part P, so that does not apply. Good luck and thanks for watching the videos.

    Quick question on the " particulars of installation referred to in the certificate". If, for example, you've installed a sub-main is the info such as max. Demand, main switch info and earthing conductor to do with the sub-main or is this part still to do with at the intake?
    I've recently got back into testing so bit rusty with the forms.
    Great video!

    • @learnelectrics4402

      Thanks for watching.
      Both apply. In the section SUPPLY CHARACTERISTICS this is the main board, where the supply comes in.
      Then, Particulars of Installation referred to in the Certificate is about the sub board.
      Hope this helps. dave.

    I have isolator switch with fuse device under the stair between the supply protective device and the meter
    where is the supply cable located and I have consumer unit with RCD
    main switch inside the studio flat so now I would like to fill certificate
    I have 2 main switch which one should I put in the main switch section on certificate

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  Год назад

      You will need to complete two certificates, one for each CU. It sounds like the one by the meter is the main switch for the property, this would be Ze. The second CU will require its own certificate, Zdb.

      Whichever are the most appropriate are the ones that you are required to issue. If its only minor works and it is not notifiable works then have a look at this video before you make your decision.

    Hi Dave Once the work is completed do i have to provide the EIC on the spot if requested by the customer ?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  5 месяцев назад

      Not on the spot, but within a reasonable time period. I used to spend Fridays doing certs and notifications, and have the Part P notifications sent to me. When the Part P arrived, photocopy for me, original to customer along with EIC etc. I used to make sure I was paid at the end of a job by saying something like ""let's get the money sorted out and I can get all the certificates processed"" Never had a bad payer. And if you tell the customer 2 to 3 weeks for the certs, make sure it is, customers do notice.

    any idea how to make the forms on the IET website editable to fill out digitally? thus eliminating handwriting and the need to store a paper copy as customer or installer, not to mention a paper trail (or rather non-paper trail) of it being emailed is a lot harder to refute than a signature that could be forged

    Hi Dave, what is electrical third party certificate please? When EIC is missing can electrician test circuits and provide this?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  2 года назад

      Third party cert is where another electrician carries signs off the work for Part P, but they must be registered as third party person and they must see the work being done and tested. If the EIC is missing they cannot provide another. They must carry out a periodic inspection and issue an EICR.
