Used to beat it as a kid. One of the best games every aspect of which worked perfectly to create the ultimate NES experience. Music-wise, top-tier, especially with its bad ass wavetable-based bass lines typical of Sunsoft.
I'm a master at this game dude, it's awsome! The best parts about it are the very cool bosses and Realy REALY great music that I still listen to to this day.
+Nikodem R I believe it has to do with interlacing. I think if I was recording through HDMI with the retron 5 it would counter the issue, but unfortunately the 5 does not recognize multicarts, and due to the overall cost and rarity of the game it was the only way I could even get my hands on it. So basically the issue is pretty much unavoidable unless I can increase my production budget.
One of the higher end Dazzles for pretty much all the SD stuff, like this. Elgato HD60 for HDMI stuff, and a terrible Happauge HD PVR for HD Component output for my PS3, PS2,360, and Wii.
That's a good setup. The old HDPVR has one redeeming quality, it's the only capture device that can deal with PS2's component output a, it's too bad it's so unreliable tho. in case you're curious all other capture devices will do this to PS2 over component i.imgur.com/k3dX3Ln.jpg it's not every game, it has to do with the resolution, but good 80% of games on that system suffer from this.
Pretty good Review. The original Spy Hunter wasn't my bag but you brought the action to life.

This is an excelent game! One of my favorite on the NES. Very good memories xD
I really is a shame that a gem like this has to mainly be obscured simply due to availability and price.

sometimes it's kinda hard to see where you're shooting, like on the water but I guess it might just be missing frames in the recording

Interesting, I'll see about using it next time.
What capture device do you use? Elgato HD capture ?

I find the monotone more complex than the game.
