  • Today we try the language challenge Bangali (Bangla) and Persian (Farsi) we came across many similarities between the two languages. This maybe due to the fact that both Bengali and Persian are classified as Indo-European languages. Persian is mainly spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan while Bengali is primarily spoken in Bangladesh and some parts of India.

    Hey guys I’m Kazi! The guy who’s in the video. Firstly, I’ll tell you guys a bit about myself. I am a Canadian born. My parents are from Dhaka, and yeah we don’t hate Pakistani’s. 90% of my friends are Pakistanis and I love them.
    Secondly, it’s funny to see how people will start a fight just about anything. I do read the comments and it’s a shame to see that in this generation we still discuss about the history of Pakistan and Bangladesh. A lot of my ancestors suffered and got killed during that era of time. But we learned to forgive and forget. We come from a place of love and peace and nothing else.
    The whole purpose of the video and me not being able to pronounce or recognize Bengali words does not mean I’m illiterate to my language. The purpose was to to entertain you. To make it enjoyable and quirky rather than exposing myself as uneducated. Out of respect, I mentioned Urdu several times in the video. I am tri-lingual. I speak Bengali, Urdu, and English. I may not be perfect at all but I hope you guys stop the quarrels and bring peace to his channel.
    Lastly, show my friend Amir Tavassoly love and kindness. He is a hard working guy and all he wants is for us to come together.
    Thanks and Allah Hafiz. ❤️

    Lebass (লেবাস/লিবাস) - attire/ dress is commonly used word in bengali language. And I also think Bengali Shabuz (green) and Persian Sabz have the same origin. Takht (তখত) in bengali it has a different meaning, it means royal throne, power etc, but there is a bengali word Taktaposh (তক্তপোশ) that means bed, I am not sure whether it comes from persian takht or simply bangla Takta (wood), since bed frames are made of wood.
    I appreciate your effort to make this video! Thank you so much. Bengali is an indo-iranian language, and also in this region Persian was an official language for hundreds of years. It’s pretty obvious that we share some similarities, and it is always very interesting to watch these language comparison videos.

      Not Indo-Iranian. It's Indo-Aryan *

    And Amir bro, you forgot the word "Chashma" was used in the previous Farsi vs Urdu Challenge. We just pronounce it as "Choshma." (Bengali: চশমা). And how come Kazi doesn't know this?? *"Lebaas" (Bengali: লেবাস) in Bengali also means attire or clothing.* The word *"Aatosh" (Bengali: আতোশ) in Bengali is used to mean lightning but in a more Muslim literary or poetic setting* and you won't find common people using it unless in compounds like "Aatoshbaaji" ("Aatishbaazi" in Hindi/Urdu) meaning firecrackers. While "Akash" is the common word for sky, *"Asmaan" (Bengali: আসমান) is used in a more Islamic context* and it's much more common than "Aatosh". *"Tokht" (Bengali: তখত) is also used to mean throne and "Tokhta" (Bengali: তখতা) to mean stool or couch but its case is like that of "Aatosh".* The word for green in Bengali is *"Shobuj" (Bengali: সবুজ) which is a corruption of "Sabz".*
    Just to add a bit more info, "Bhaat" is the name we (Bengalis), Nepalis, probably also Maithilis, Assamese and Odia people give to cooked rice. Uncooked rice is "Chaal/Chaaul" similar to Hindi/Urdu "Chaawal."

    1) chashma "like a river". In Russian 'glaz' means an eye and in Polish 'glaz' is a source of water stream. Btw Russian 'glazeyesh' (you look) = Sanskrit 'dRzyase' (you look). Ukrainian 'dzerkalo' (mirror). Pashto 'sterga' (eye). 2) lebaas - Russian "rubashka" (shirt). 3) gala - Russian 'glotka' and 'gorlo' (both mean throat), 4) sandalee = 'stul' , pl. 'stuliya' (here we probably have have santaali ---> sontoli ---> sutuli ---> stuli) 5) agon = ogon' (pronounced agon') 5) takht = (archaic) 'takhta', 6) chahaar = 'chetyre', 7) shurjo = solntse

      Actually, the term 'Bangladeshi' refers to the ethnicity. In terms of the language, you would say you speak either Bengali or Bangla

    • @samuela8164
      @samuela8164 6 лет назад +34

      Kwt Pk firstly it's is the same thing as Bangladeshis are known as Bengalis worldwide. Secondly, similarly we can say you west Bengalis are Indian not known as Bengalis due to Kolkata isn't it's own country, it's a city in India so technically you're just basic Indians from south India. We Bangladeshis are known as Bengalis just as much as you, in fact more than you! So don't force your views on us!

      Ashraf Anam Bangladeshis totally hate us. 😂

    • @AshrafAnam
      @AshrafAnam 6 лет назад +4

      Ha ha...that is totally not true. Bangladeshis/East Bengalis have always loved Pakistan since the Pakistan Movement. Only nationalists such as litterateurs or supporters of the Awami League actually hate Pakistan. Regardless of India's aid and recognition during and post-1971 and the Pakistani atrocities, the Bengali people here have always felt for Pakistan and seen India as a secret conspirator and whenever given a choice between India and Pakistan, majority Bangladeshis have always chosen Pakistan. You should come to Bangladesh during India-Pakistan cricket matches and you'll be overwhelmed. Well, I'm not saying you won't find Pakistan supporters being derogatorily called "Razakars" by some but that is not the big picture. While Bangladeshis are sensitive about their mother tongue Bengali and a natural animosity towards Urdu has grown because of history, it's not difficult to find many who love Urdu songs especially old ones and even some Sindhi ones. While the likes of Noor Jahan and Alamgir are quite well known here, Runa Laila is very famous in Pakistan.

    • @aahan1
      @aahan1 6 лет назад +6

      That's very comforting to know. Our generation feels very guilty after the Hamood ur Rahman Commission's report and how badly Bangla cause was mishandled mainly due to idiotic self-centered decisions, by both the civilian and mostly the military governments. Bangla language always was the right of the people who speak it. Every sane Pakistani always knew in his heart that the demand for recognition of Bengali language was a legitimate right.

    At least the word Lebaas should be known to every Bengali. In fact that word has become a Bengali word.
    And Gala means throat not mouth.
