The problem is most of us men are like tribesmen ... "Apes together strong" type . So most of us have same thoughts , same behavior and same pattern while dealing with certain things .
But women on other hand are very emotionaly mature and hence it becomes very hard to identify common pattern among them when it comes to men (barring the obvious few like hygiene , attractiveness etc).
So I'd say stop worrying about what women want and start working on yourself . Once you are confortable with yourself , you will find someone who is right for you

my personal individual opinion are a lil different and i know no one asked for it but if it helps anyone :-
1- bout the how do we feel if he’s talking bout his ex - if its news then its a lil bit weird but still okay because almost everyone has a past and it comes up, if we are dating or its been long very long like months then I would wanna know out of curiosity and what went down and is he mature to know his part of fault and her’s as well a, also does he still respect her ( which he should unless she did something nasty ) etc if its too much or he’s insinuated via his tone etc that he’s still into her or misses her then its a problem .
2) we don’t tell u the reason why we are upset because we don’t wanna burden/ bother you or probably because we know u ll be of no help or because we want you to put in the effort to figure it out and talk to us solve it etc .
