We have already killed 75% of the sea life from 1970 because of: - Over-fishing and by-catch - Many fishes dying in the ocean because of plastic problem - Our corals are dying because of global temperature rise which is the home of most percentage of the ocean life The whales unfortunately have to find these alternate ways of finding food.
I very much doubt this behavior occurs from a lack of prey in the wild. This is probably due to the nature of hatcheries, densely packed groups occuring recurrently every year which makes for a low effort, high reward prey which is consistently available yearly

My grandfather worked at a Salmon hatchery/Mink Farm. Used to go there every year in the 80s and early 90s when he retired. Was near Puyallup, WA. Best times I swear. Pugeot Sound we would see the weirdest fish , Crab and Whales, go up into Mt Rainier in the Summer and play in the snow and I'm from Chicago and even at a young age I would think my people's in Chgo would laugh they ass off knowing I'm playing in snow in the Summertime. WA hopefully will be my final resting spot.

One can never lose something one will never have. The;y were way gone before they ever reached their street value.
If they were raised in a salmon farm then they could recover closer to 100%. But AK doesn't like salmon farms...so there aren't any there.

Same goes for all sea mammals like dolphins which is why in Japan they are killing an entire pod of dolphins so they wouldn't learn their tactics to catch dolphins and avoid it next time...

Everyone saying the hatchery manager was upset but did you not hear that the salmon were to be released into the wild? How is he monetarily affected that way? This is obviously a conservation aspect which that whale just screwed over.

We have already killed 75% of the sea life from 1970 because of:
- Over-fishing and by-catch
- Many fishes dying in the ocean because of plastic problem
- Our corals are dying because of global temperature rise which is the home of most percentage of the ocean life
The whales unfortunately have to find these alternate ways of finding food.

I very much doubt this behavior occurs from a lack of prey in the wild. This is probably due to the nature of hatcheries, densely packed groups occuring recurrently every year which makes for a low effort, high reward prey which is consistently available yearly
@kys You must be very uninformed. Sharks are one of the most important links in the sea ecosystem. They clean up the ocean. Without sharks the ocean will eventually be a stinking soup of decaying sea animals.
@@ij6708 The whole reason for the hatcheries is because the salmon have been over-fished. The salmon (that are now almost gone) were the food for many other animals. They didn't exist to feed humans.
I'd make a extra bin suited for the whale, stock it as a loss and feed it good, while trying to deflect it from my main groweries. You might even get some tourism out of it

My grandfather worked at a Salmon hatchery/Mink Farm. Used to go there every year in the 80s and early 90s when he retired. Was near Puyallup, WA. Best times I swear. Pugeot Sound we would see the weirdest fish , Crab and Whales, go up into Mt Rainier in the Summer and play in the snow and I'm from Chicago and even at a young age I would think my people's in Chgo would laugh they ass off knowing I'm playing in snow in the Summertime. WA hopefully will be my final resting spot.
30 min before this was filmed literally everyone "save the whales!".....2 min after "screw it! save the salmon!".
