Hi Diane, I just finished watching Dean Robert's Requiem Mass online. How sad that this lovely, brilliant, inspiring, gentle, and kind soul died while still so vibrant and engaged in his life's mission!! I discovered his morning prayers on RUclips about July '21. I had seen pictures of the sincere cheerful-looking priest, wearing a full black cassock, sitting in a garden surrounded by various farm animals several times and though I'm more spiritual than religious, I finally gave into my curiosity and clicked on a video picture of him surrounded by turkeys or chickens. What a feast his morning prayers turned out to be for me always beautifully filmed by his dear talented partner, Fletcher, who's love of nature always shone in gorgeous detail. I grieved when his ability to remain at Canterbury Cathedral as it's dean came to an end upon his 75th birthday which was an age limit written into the cathedral's rules. I realize that you, Diane, already know this, but am including this note for anyone else who might read this comment. Thanks for your heartfelt meditative tribute to this lovely soul. May his life's light live on in our hearts and memories! Now, I'll return to watching and maybe paint along with you. May all who grieve find comfort.❤ Susan
Oh, Dear Diane, only One minute in, and I hear the broken heart in your voice sooo loud and clear. Oh, I am sooo very sorry for your loss! Even our dear friends via the Internet are so very important to us. May you have full healing of your heart, and comfort, by my Lord Jesus Christ. I'm sending you a big hug.
I just lost my dog after 12 years. An adorable parti yorkie. I wish I could paint him but my skill level is not there. Thank you Jesus for helping me through this time. Painting helps I' m just not ready and dont quite know how to express my love and loss of him, Isaac, through this gift. Thank you Diane for including this content. God bless to all who miss those special people and pets.
I understand your grief Deborah Carey. Our beloved dachshund died in July last year and I still grieve and cry for him. I don’t understand how the grief can go on and on. I pray for comfort for you. Our little one was only five years old and he was taken from us much too soon. Be strong, keep your precious memories of your baby always.
Dear Deborah, I hope you don't mind me writing you a short message. I absolutely know how you feel about the loss of your little dog . We lost our little Parsons Russell nearly 3 years ago and we miss him so, so much , it truly hurts, I cry often and miss his presence massively. My heart breaks still and I don't know how long I will grieve for him, as grief is a personal thing and we are all different but rest assured you are not alone in your thoughts. XX 😘
God bless you and I'm sorry for your loss. I agree there is healing in painting and it's a way of expressing one's emotions through the medium of watercolours. I found great solace watching your tutorials after my mother passed away. It's good for the soul.
I find it quite refreshing that you can acknowledge your sad feelings, but not let it stop you from continuing in your daily life. So many of us have a hard time expressing out sadness or our feelings of just being down. Sharing our feeling is so very important and expressing them through our art is a beautiful way to go on.
I am so sorry for your loss Diane….its so hard to bear initially and makes us quite raw inside….It’s so good to have art as I find it a great therapy…..we lost one of our dogs , Charlie not so long ago and miss him like crazy….he was almost 12 years old…. Love your paining it’s heartfelt and beautiful…I did a painting from the video you mentioned and love the result…take care and remember all the good memories you have of your friend….❤
I can feel your pain. I've lost a friend to dementia who had to move away to assisted living. Aging and beyond is not an easy journey. I'm sorry, Diane.🫂🕊️
I am so sorry for your loss, I felt myself hold my breath while you spoke about your friend. Connections are however they are made are part of the richness in life and are precious. No need to apologise for how you feel, it's real. Thank you for sharing. Sending love and prayers.
Words just don’t provide much comfort at these times. It’s ok to grieve - and you wouldn’t if you didn’t care about your friend. Painting has become a source of comfort for me too- I understand and empathize - and feel your pain. It amazes how life just goes right on!
I, too, loved tuning in to Dean Robert's daily morning prayers during Covid. His connection, not only with God and the Garden Congregation, but also his connection with the many animal residents at the Deanery, was something that was so wonderfully transmitted, even over the airwaves. He brought much comfort to so many, and laughter as well, with the antics of the cats and other animals. I so missed those mornings after he had to retire, but kept up with him a little bit during his travels here in America. His loss is greatly felt by so many, but he has left a beautiful legacy and witness to faith. Peace to you, Diane, and to all who grieve the loss of someone near and dear, even a virtual friend. Thank you for sharing a lovely way to begin to work through grief.
Diane, I’m so sorry for your loss. Mostly virtual relationships, especially when there has been a spiritual connection, can be so hard. Thank you for sharing your heart at this difficult time. Prayers and gentle hugs.
Ms.Diane, your spirit manifested your friend all in the painting. You painted stems and leaves all in top of what I saw. Go to about 13 minute into video and stare blankly at painting. I hope you see all of him. One even looks as though he's waving. Take care of that painting. Thank you for sharing your work.
Diane, I am so sorry for your loss, I can hear in your voice the sadness. Painting has gotten me thru some really hard times and I'm glad to see you turning to your art. God needed your friend to help Him in heaven. Love and healing hugs to you.
So sorry for your loss Diane . I’m glad your painting can help you . I understand what you mean about virtual friends ,all of the people I follow like yourself feel like friends to me too 🤗💐
Painting is such great therapy. I am so sorry for your loss and seems that it is a loss to many indeed. Thank you for giving the gifts you do and providing us with comfort and knowledge.
I painted my cat, first time painting n it came out so realistically❤ 10 years ago, I painted rocks, and then my best friend died unexpectedly, and I fell apart. I drew the gate to a heavenly paradise. But I wanted to include her in my rock, and so I traced her picture then traced it on paper, then transferred her upper torso, face. N arm...wow!!! It came out great. After I finished a ton of bricks came off my shoulder, I was relieved knowing she had made it to the other side n her waving in her picture solidified her saying "goodbye to me." She now lives in a vivid place deep in my heart. I put the rock in my garden, where I can see her face and the sun shines on her spirit.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Diane. Creativity is so very healing and I find it soothes my soul especially when I can share the healing in a like-minded community. Blessings ❤
It always sucks when someone we care about beats us Home. Our loss is their gain. So while you process through the grief, do try to take just a moment to rejoice for his reward. ❤ Sending big hugs to you Diane. ❤
Totally understand your blues. I too am giving myself a pep talk everyday. My hubby has had some health scares and I of course don’t see the bright side, the fact that it was found early and can be treated, but rather the horridness of the treatment and the unfairness of it all. My new motto is…..stop trying to calm the storm. Calm yourself, the storm will pass. Days will get brighter…right? They have to.
The best kind of therapy - just getting lost in your art while philosophical and nonsense musings swirl around in your head. I'm sorry you had an off day and certainly for a valid reason. Although reason doesn't always enter into it. They used to call it melancholy although sometimes mine is intertwined with rage and feelings of helplessness. By the time I've slept on it, I feel stronger and encouraged to move on. Of course, that doesn't generally help with age and pain. Like you said we have to deal with reality whether we want to or not, ready or not - hence the occasional melancholy. I think of it as being healthier than feeling nothing or hiding behind a stoic wall. Anyway I guess I'm rambling - I hope by the time that you read this your spirits will have lifted. I like the fluidity of your paintin. Good vibes from Florida - enjoy your trip.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was also blessed by Dean Robert with his garden congregation during covid. He was very special. Thank you for your ideas, lovely chatter and the encouragement you give us each week.
Enjoyed this video.. am a huge fan of yours. Didn't really think about my 'art' as healing..but yes, I have also done some 'pieces' in remembrance of my son Dylan, who died in a car accident when he was 43. He was an organ donor. 4 people got a 2nd chance at life ( his heart, kidneys and liver). A hero! Very comforting in the valleys.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Even though he was not a friend in real life, you had a real connection with him through the internet and you are feeling that loss. Thank you for working though your feeling with paint and us, your online friends.
Diane, I'm so sorry for your loss of your friend~ the grief is real! May God wrap His arms around you and comfort you! Painting is a good thing! Much love sweetheart from the PNW ❤✝️🙏🏻
You have all my sympathy. I lost my Mum earlier this year and understand how one can feel sad and empty after the loss of someone dear. But I am trying like yourself to improve my moods with painting. You are an inspiration.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts through your sadness whilst painting. Life is such a journey and a mystery. Like a metaphor when you began putting water on paper and applied colors 🙏🏼🫶🏼
Diane prayers to help sooth your soul. I know the loss of someone close is always so difficult. Painting as you have stated in the past is great for healing one’s emotions.
Just before you started to paint the leaves I saw part of a face in this painting…the upper 3/4 of a face appeared and I know you were not consciously painting a person. So possibly you virtual friend was in your painting…amazing!
Hello, Diane ~ I have been a member of the Garden Congregation since I found Dean Robert & Fletcher's daily videos the day cat Tiger dipped his paw into the cream ;-) Alrhough I, like you, am not "traditionally religious," these daily messages helped me get thru the trying time of the pandemic, when there was so much fiery violence & isolation here in the US & it seemed Western civilization was slipping away. They were preservers of sanity & calm. Love your channel, have followed for awhile, will soon dip toe into watercolor only due to your encouraging example. Thank you. ~ M
Dear Diane, I feel sorry for yor loss... take time and heal slowly. I lost my son two month ago and I thought the world has to stand still because of mine does... Every time when I cant handle my emotions I start painting... it really is an calming and healing therapy .... Take care and God bless you ❤
So sorry for the loss of your friend, but I'm glad you shared it with us. Many of us think of you as our friend, and it's so helpful to tell our friends some of our inner feelings when we're down.. I've been very sad lately and I went to a friend's house this am, where we both laughed, cried and yelled to get our feelings out. I've also been doing some nuerographic art with some zentangles on top. It's so healthy to express all kinds of feelings through our art. Take good care of yourself and thanks for this video. I'm sure I'll use it over and over again.
I’m so sorry for your loss. You created a beautiful painting, I hope it helped you, there’s nothing like art therapy for taking your mind of things for a while. Take care Diane, sending a big virtual hug. X
I’m very sorry for your loss ..I’m still in terrible grief myself as my husband of 40yrs died in May ..it’s a terrible terrible thing to try to heal from I haven’t painted since he died ..honestly I didn’t even want to live …till recently ..death is awful :(
Maybe we should stand still at the fact that so very many people are dying nowadays, suddenly and unexpectedly! There is a reason for that and it is right in our face. I have also lost several family members, friends and aquaintances suddenly and unexpectedly. They all had something in common..! It doesn’t make it easier though. Love and light to you all.
It is so hard to lose people who we care about. This year has brought us news of several people who died too early. And we grieve. May God bless you and comfort you. We all find comfort in different things and I'm glad your painting brings you peaceful, thoughtful moments.
Friends on line are very important to us. We love them fiercely and there is no way to explain this. We have never seen them in person and yet we love them. I have a virtual friend in the US and we have been buddies for years. We grieved with each other when our dogs died, cried tears of sadness for each other. I can understand why you love Robert after watching his video with the mama pig and her new babies. His voice was so soothing and comforting as he prayed and read Scripture. I look forward to watching his videos from the Garden soon. It is OK to be grieving, no use to try to suppress it, no apologies needed. Tender hearts are hard to turn off. So shed those tears, have some tea and paint a picture in honor of his goodness and leadership. My eyes filled with tears as I watched his final service on RUclips a few minutes ago. Heaven is celebrating another saint that has come home! Prayers for Fletcher and all of their friends.
Sending you gentle hugs 🫂 I'm so sorry for your loss. I had to pour myself into my art this afternoon because I found out my favorite aunt is in critical condition in the hospital. I'm very worried. So know that you are not alone, thank you for trusting us with your fragility. ❤
Thank you for sharing this loss with us Diane. I’m sorry for this sad loss for you and I feel sure many others who relied on you friend for uplifting help in a very hard time… may it help you and others heal to think of such a person in the presence of God and in perfect health and joy!
So sorry for your loss. We just lost our one and only Duke in August and I am completely broken! I wish I had your talent to capture his image...just not ready to try and fail.❤️🐾
I have the same set of gold colors (Fine Tec in the US) and they, from the beginning, have been difficult to wet and stay wet. However, the good thing about this brand is that you can paint over deep colors and the gold does not reactivate (much) the under painting, so coverage is quite good. I can usually get coverage with one coat, and with darker colors two coats in spots. I use these a lot in my painting because of their great coverage with little to no bleed through!
14:31 in between the top two black leaves on the right, I see an older man’s face, eyes, wide cheekbones, bearded probably. Do you see him? This is what I love about abstract art-what one can see within. ❤ tell me if you can see him 😍
Hi Diane! I'm so sorry about the loss of your spiritual friend! This painting is so beautiful with the blues and greens blending together in the background... peaceful. Do you know "Looking at Life with Dee"? I may have heard about her from you? I enjoy listening to her, and imagine you might too, but you probably already do. Yes, Rememberance Day is sad and it was Veterans Day here, and there are the same feelings here. So true..."could be worse" but yes we all have those days. 😊
One more thought about gum arabic, if you add some to paint that's dried out, I wonder if it will help the paint come back? I have some powder gum arabic that I got online.. I've made it into a paste and added it to powdered Schminke aqua bronze flakes to help it stick to a watercolor painting.
Dear Diane I’m so sorry for your loss & it’s so important to acknowledge & process this as you have in your painting……have you tried neurographic art lines & doodles loads of examples on RUclips?…. I find this art quite relaxing & expressive. Anyway I felt your voice lift a little towards the end of your painting take of you! X
this was quite interesting - I found a man's face on your painting - I noticed it at 10:57, lower left hand side, a lighter space and actually upside down. He is more prominent at 12:20, when you turned the painting right side up - now in the upper right hand side, a bit towards the middle, more of a half face, looking towards the left slightly. I know this probably sounds silly but it stood out to me so well that I thought I would share it. ... ok, now - the painting - love the colours, calm and soothing. Hope your heart is lighter soon. Losing someone whether IRL or virtual is painful. I lost a dear virtual friend a year ago and I still miss him each day. Sending hugs your way Diane...

So sorry Diane. It's such a sad time when you suffer the loss of someone close. Prayers for you and your friend.
I understand the easing of pain through use of paint, I call it colours of a soul ❤️you don’t have to actually meet people to “feel” them . Ave Robert

Enjoyed this. Seems this made you feel a bit better 😊
Scientifically statistically speaking this is not true but I'm sorry that this has been your personal experience. My condolences.
Sorry for your loss 💔
It is so hard to lose people who we care about. This year has brought us news of several people who died too early. And we grieve. May God bless you and comfort you. We all find comfort in different things and I'm glad your painting brings you peaceful, thoughtful moments.

So pretty. ❤❤❤
So sorry for your loss. We just lost our one and only Duke in August and I am completely broken! I wish I had your talent to capture his image...just not ready to try and fail.❤️🐾
Hope you’re healing.
Amazing 😮😮😮
Beautiful!!❤
I too am sorry for your loss.
14:31 in between the top two black leaves on the right, I see an older man’s face, eyes, wide cheekbones, bearded probably. Do you see him? This is what I love about abstract art-what one can see within. ❤ tell me if you can see him 😍
I’m so sorry❤
So sorry for your loss.
Cute. I'm staying.
Candace Owens. That's one for you to watch/listen to.
What are those metalic colors at the top of this video? They look interesting.
Psalm 116:15 says “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
❤
Hi Diane. Are you ok?? Have watched all your videos, saved them all. This one you sound very sad. Please let us know you’re ok. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
