I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind supportive words and to let you know that I have read all the comments and appreciate them so much! I would like to respond to all of you but I don’t quite have enough time at the moment. Rest assured I’m not really hurt by that thoughtless comment, but more for these two reasons: one, that particular painting that she thought was so bad has been one of our most popular and many people have enjoyed having fun with it as inspiration, so she’s actually insulting other art enthusiasts more than me. Two, that video was put together by my daughter and probably contains not only at least 20 hours of MY work, but about the same again of Tamsin’s editing skills. So she is insulting my daughter too! Mother Bear not happy! Anyhow, at least she subscribed and seems to have enjoyed the video in the end. I don’t know if she is likely to see the comments which kind people have put up to support me and Tamsin, but maybe she will realise, if she does, that a thought need not be expressed in a comment online, and everyone doesn’t need to know about her feelings. Such is the world of social media. Time to recalibrate??? Thanks again for your support, and sending you all best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving xxx

I love your Christmas song, your British humor, and your commentary! I am blessed to have found you. I've been with you for close to 2 years and learned so much from you! Your skill and teaching and honesty have brightened my life! Imagine - I'm learning to paint at 70. I'm forever grateful for you and Tamsin.

Wonderful watercolor teacher, please remember that you have nearly 160k followers from probably all over the world. You have inspired us and taught us. You have helped us build confidence in ourselves to try. You told us it is just a piece of paper and that the paper doesn't care. Social media gives an outlet for people to be mean and write rude and mean words anonymously and with no consequences. They are assured that you will never ever know who actually wrote it even if it's a neighbor or someone you see regularly at grocery or even church. Belittling someone else makes small people feel larger. Personally, I am so grateful I came upon your teaching channel within last 2 yrs. While I will never be a Rembrandt or Monet nor a Van Gogh (and will retain both ears), I am trying to paint more and more. Because you have built up my courage to try, I actually find myself smiling at some of my finished work...and proud of it. Thank you so very much.

Diane, you have taught me so much! Please don’t ever change your style of teaching or your conversation. You make watercolor attainable for so many of us who are learning. As my grandchildren taught me……..just be you! ❤️❤️

I’ve learned so much from you since stumbling upon your channel and my day isn’t complete until I’ve watched one of your tutorials and then tried putting what I learned into practice. Thank you so much for all you give to us!❤

We can all paint something, but it is a real skill to pass knowledge of a craft on to others like you do 😁. I am so glad I am retired, and do not have to cope with social media as part of my work, I would be a basket case. I don’t have to read any comments, I can just enjoy. You are a real saint to continue educating, and delighting us with your paintings and thoughts. I missed your dogs padding around your studio, and your animals in the background. Glad to have you back in France ❤

Please don't take that comment to heart. The person woke up from a nap, and likely had a "foggy" head. Plus they admitted that English is not their first language. I have found that often their wording comes out "differently ", they do not have the nuances English politeness. The ending is complementary. She likes your stories of what is happening in your world as well as your studio. So many of us have expressed how we appreciate all aspects of your videos. Often I just watch and enjoy and find it calming. Perhaps she meant because of your teaching skills, even beginners can have success. ❤❤

Hi Diane! I really, really appreciate you...I started watching you when we were deep into the pandemic, and you helped me so much make it through that, and manage to stay relatively happy.... because you inspired me to keep painting. I really learned so much from you by watching you regularly... and I realized how therapeutic painting is. I can't believe that person made that kind of a comment...but I do know there are a lot of rude and not highly intelligent people in the world, and I just feel it is best to say..."it really doesn't matter" when someone like that makes a comment. You made me laugh today, and so there! That is worth its weight in gold to me!!! Keep on teaching me and inspiring me and all the thousands of other people as well!!!😊🥰❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ We love you! Welcome home!

Welcome home, it’s so nice to have you back! People always amaze me by what they decide to say in their comments. As an artist, I take a lot of criticism with a grain of salt. Not that I’m super special, but I do recognize I have a talent and that I’m as good as I am. I know I’m not as talented as someone else, but I’m happy with my talent. People who are not an artist have no clue what it’s like to be one. For those people who criticize us, to me, they show their own ignorance and I’ve learned to laugh at them instead of taking it personally and be sad! I’m sure you do the same. Anyway, I’m rambling and I’m enjoying your video. I love these free form branches and the lovely greens in the leaves that you do. Painting and drawing leaves are my favorite! 🍃

Frankly, I’m retired and have time to do as I like (blessing), and I wouldn’t waste a millisecond of it writing to someone, who has worked so hard, to let them know that their STIRRING bothered me!!! There’s a story about a woman who wanted Picasso to draw her, which he did and it took him seconds. She was thrilled and said he’d caught her essence. Then he charged her $5000 and she said but you only took 5 seconds, no he replied It took me a lifetime. Not sure if I’ve got the right story but someone who can give as much as you do in what seems simple is technique learnt over many years. Thank you.

I appreciate all the hard work that Tamsin does to edit and bring your tutorials to us and for your constant and consistent guidance!
On another note, although I often click your links to purchase items, the Harding watercolour set far exceeds my budget!

Diane, I appreciate you so much! Some people are so sensitive that I honestly get second hand embarrassment. Maybe someday when technology advances there will be some way to simply control the volume…

Dianne I know that comment you read out has really hurt you and I quite understand, but you are made of better stuff than that, and look at all you r other lovely subscribers comments, they are amazing ❤

Hi Jacqui and thanks so much for your kind words! I’m actually not really upset about that comment because of her attack on me, but more for two reasons: one, that particular painting that she thought was so bad has been one of our most popular and many people have enjoyed having fun with it as inspiration, so she’s actually insulting other art enthusiasts more than me. Thanks again for your support, and sending you best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving xxx

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! You are on my list as one of the amazing people in this world that I'm thankful for, I enjoy your channel immensley. I confess though, a couple times I've thought critters were scratching in my walls, only to realize I'm hearing your paintbrush.🤣 (my hearing is the issue, not your paintbrush)

Paul Rubens are not at all as good as Daniel Smith in my opinion. DS are my go to and I have a mixture of pan sets and tubes as well. However they are a lovely and arguably the best student brand as I have 36 and I really love them.
Also I can't even hear the brush! Lol. I appreciate you ❤

@16:34 so funny! The noise of the brush touching the paint irritating for some people 🤣. Maybe watercolour tutorials should be avoided by these sensitive souls.

You are most definitely appreciated from here in USA Missouri. You have taught this beginner a lot. My hubby passed in July 2024 so I turned to painting as therapy. You have a wonderful mix of fun and elegance in your art. Love it!!!😊
