Another option is Element skateboards. I was planning on the Element Section complete at $110 for my first board. However, they had the Magma complete - same exact complete, but on sale because the it didn’t sell too well because of the graphic - for $50. If somebody wants a first board on a budget, I’d check out Element.
Bro I ride the bam him board from 2003 u can look it up it’s purple very good board but iv always skated element have tried a few others but found element worked for me but honestly it depends what type of skating u want to do always ask the skate shop because of sizes ect u want to buy something u feel good on so it’s Better to go into a shop
I have an element board I got half off from Zumiez. I’ve enjoyed it and has been great to learn with and getting comfortable with riding. Definitely would recommend as a starter complete board.
I feel like if u kno what parts to get u can come in at around 100 bucks n get a "pro" board more or less..example blank board (ccs, mini logo, powell ect) blank wheels (ccs, budget pig ect) krux trucks (cheap n still great quality), and cheap generic bearing but id just get reds because they're not that expensive, then just blank iron horse/black magic/jessup grip... id guess depending on which brand of blank board, wheels combo u go with. that complete can probably be bought at 100-120. if u bargain hunt and hunt down a the best deals and pick a place that offers free shipping with atleast 100 purchase like ccs. if u wanted to u could probably find a pro name brand board that's on clearance or sale but my only worry would be that it's gonna be warped or some b.s lol. I do think trucks are the most important part of this setup and id guess krux would probably be the most bang for your buck imo..theyre a solid truck not fancy, but not cheap and they ride solid.. idk how much royal or silver trucks go for nowadays but those options will probably be on the cheaper side, but imo krux is the way to go as far as budget but still buttery (as they say on nine club). my first pro complete in 2000-01 was world industries 7.5, grind king with the allen key king pin, lucky 7 bearings, pig or spitfire wheels i forget, shorties hardware, i left it outside for 2 minutes n it got stolen lol.. i think i got almost the exact same setup to replace it but swapped out the GKs for tensor or phantom 2s lol, definitely spitfire the 2nd time, but kept the skinny ass world wet willy flame boy graphic variation because i was a kid n this was b4 world was considered lame.. as u can tell i made my choices based more on aesthetic and look rather than function! this was at a time where alot of ppl said independents were too heavy so i always avoided them. by the time they were really popular again i was a straght up thunder only kid. by the time i actually knew what i liked my it girl crailtap 7.75-8 everyother board, thunder lows or mid, bones reds, 52 mm SF or ricta hollows were super popular at that time (mid 2000s on)..i loved the baker team but HATED the shape of most of thier boards, the nose was always on the pointy side lol.. nowadays i stick to either deluxe or bbs decks, i really like the fat nose of fa/hockey decks.. u cant go wrong with a Real full shape deck 8.25 or something similar but with a smaller tail.
I think the supporting the local shops is still a great point, save up just a bit more and get a board thats around $100, and you can even ask the shop owners for advises
My neighbor kid had this board. Shape is OK. I replaced the trucks and it was good for him. Once he got comfortable I gave him my old board and he took off. It's better than a Walmart board.
I think you should just own calling yourself pro. You've earned it, you worked hard for it, you deserve it. It's not wrong or braggy to state your profession and one of yours is skateboarding.
My first setup was kinda nice and expensive, that gave me joy and responsibility to learn skateboarding because I didn't want my skateboard to be excuse to give up early. And i never did.
Darkstar is a pro board company for entry skaters. They sell the boards that didn't sell to well in shop or online to Walmart and Walmart resells them for like $50.
Honestly I'm pretty impressed. As far as what a beginner will need that board for, it at least has the capability. No clue if a new person would actually find it much more difficult to use, but I'll probably recommend this board to ppl who want to buy their kids a gift
Test bearings again after 10 mins of rolling around on the Amazon one. Cheap bearings are often shipping with multipurpose grease instead of fluid lube, so it's temperature is effecting grease's viscosity way more than it does on lube....just assuming and didn't remembering u mentioned what lubricant is used there. Grease will stay much longer, if not forever, too. ;)
now i wan to try it, i have never liked any board other than custom pro builds, but this looks worth a try, especially just to cruise on, and do some basic stuff with aaaww such cute doggos 🙂
You said you were visiting California, (if you are) you should make a video in San Luis Obispo. They have an awesome skatepark, and there are several small towns around the area that supports the skating community.
have you heard of Cal7? they have complete decks for anywhere from $30-50 and are made in america I believe! They actually have their own skate team and are hella legit! Would love to see a video reviewing their boards.
It would be better to use the word custom instead of regular. Theres a dfference between Custom skateboards and completes and since both are skateboards as the word is a general term used to describe a category, using the word cutom skateboard is better then saying regular skateboard. All skateboarders use skateboards but long time skaters use customs while new skaters usally use completes. There is a a difference, as we all know custom skateboards are all different with different parts that are more expensive and are of better quality then regular complete skateboards, which are mass produce, cheaper, lower quality parts, and will always be the same. So using the word custom rather then saying regular skateboard would be better as the term is less confusing to those who are getting into skateboarding, is a better way to differ the two types of skateboards ( Competes and Custom), and saying custom sounds cooler and more practical then saying "proffesional skateboard" since proffesioncal skatebaords are really just customs that anyone can get at a skateshop; plus sounds cooler. Btw Cool video John
Whoa, why am I missing out on other channels of yours? Suspect it happened during a long ago subscriber purge? Stoked to go and get 'em and have more than almost daily John Hill right now! Hopefully your wife starts posting more and more often too! She's so talented and peachy! Maybe she can do a video on how to make a video like Phillip Defranco and have it blow up bigger than the Casey Neistat one? 🙂
I have a question, would I still get wheel bite if I don’t do tricks on it? Cuz I’m planning on only riding it for fun so I want to know if I can get wheel bite by just turning on it.
You wouldn’t get wheel bite that bad but might occur depending on how loose your trucks are and how much you’re leaning to turn. I’d say it’s probably nothing to worry about
You should review cal7 boards They were budget boards, got a complete for 40 bucks Think it’s 50 now cause inflation But anywho, it was the best cheap skateboard I’ve ever used
I assumed the trucks were loose because they are tightened for a child. That's how my nephew's Element complete came as well, it was ultra loose because kids don't have the weight to push down as hard to turn.
Great video. That would have been sick if you did the tail slide on top of that box and then went into a blunt below. Sick session though! I've always been curious about those but was didn't want to risk it when I bought my son his first skateboard so I went with an Element complete from the local shop. He rode it twice and then quit. D'oh!
I find John nailing tricks on an amazon board oddly satisfying.
That's kinda how skating them feels too. Landing anything is satisfying because it just feels like a fake skateboard lmao
The doggo was an added treat.
I agree

Element makes great stuff. You can get their old decks for less than a blank too
Them shits have mad pop when new but chip pretty easy I found
I have an element board I got half off from Zumiez. I’ve enjoyed it and has been great to learn with and getting comfortable with riding. Definitely would recommend as a starter complete board.
ive had my element board for over 10 years and its still going strong.
I'm not kidding, your videos are therapeutic, truly helps my anxiety 🤘🏻🖤🔥
i wish it helped with mine
im not kidding, you sound like a fuckin bot 🔥🔥🥶🥶

I reacently bruised my ribs falling on a rail and these videos are keeping me company while I can’t skate thank you ❤
Those combo tricks on that metal ledge were super cool.
I think the supporting the local shops is still a great point, save up just a bit more and get a board thats around $100, and you can even ask the shop owners for advises
i have been using ones like these as my first board i know 3 tricks now ,shuvit, ollie and boneless. Its pretty solid for the price ngl
2:13 I like how you synced the board hitting the ground to the music
My neighbor kid had this board. Shape is OK. I replaced the trucks and it was good for him. Once he got comfortable I gave him my old board and he took off. It's better than a Walmart board.
I live here, there is a crowley recreation center right behind the camera and a library right beside that. Hope to meet you one day!
I think you should just own calling yourself pro. You've earned it, you worked hard for it, you deserve it. It's not wrong or braggy to state your profession and one of yours is skateboarding.
And he has a pro model
The screaming part had a white van in the background😳
My first setup was kinda nice and expensive, that gave me joy and responsibility to learn skateboarding because I didn't want my skateboard to be excuse to give up early. And i never did.
I know what the person yelling was saying, "happpppy fooourr twenttttyy!" 😂🎉
I heard fuck there’s a zombie
Man the nose slide to grind was so satisfying at the end, grat vid
All ways love the vids, keep it up
2:24 bro john's tres are so elegant and crispy he looks so effortless when he does them
i just started skateboarding and i really like that the community is super supportive.
Darkstar is a pro board company for entry skaters. They sell the boards that didn't sell to well in shop or online to Walmart and Walmart resells them for like $50.
What would you suggest if amazon is the only option to get a complete set up for like $100-150?
That filling up while the scene plays is awesome
I got an amazon skateboard for my first board and ty for your honest review on them it made me know if this board is good or not
@6:48 best part of video 🥲
I used this board and it was decent but as soon as I build an actual complete the difference was insane
I don't know where that dog come from but I love
Were you wearing Vans Style 114 here?
I was curious on how that model skates.
i love how the tricks go with the beat
where did u get yours from pls link
Nothing like watching john hill during the middle of a rain storm 😌
Are skateboards from amazon good? I bought one TITUS Skateboard
I love this honestly it’s just soothing and satisfying thank you
the tricks are on beat with the music.he puts a lot of work in his vids
Sick session at the end. Combo grinds were rad 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
whats that song about "invincible" called, it's a sick tune
hey john I love your posts! I have commented a couple times and u have liked them and thats cool, thanks so much! luv u bro
ut vids is so amazing❤ im just wondering what size board your skating?🔥
What wheels do u have on ur board?
Honestly I'm pretty impressed. As far as what a beginner will need that board for, it at least has the capability. No clue if a new person would actually find it much more difficult to use, but I'll probably recommend this board to ppl who want to buy their kids a gift
No way I had this exact board as my first board ever
I literally new you were gonna say it sounded corny calling yourself a pro skater 😂😂 thanks for keeping it real

Thank you for your service John
The best bearing for the best bang for your buck and in my opinion better than the bones, are mini logo or shake junt for 10 bucks.
HEY JOHN I ALWAYS SEE YOU WITH THOSE VANS AND ME WATCHING YOU MADE ME BUY THEM THEY ARE SO GOOD . THANKS!
have you heard of Cal7? they have complete decks for anywhere from $30-50 and are made in america I believe! They actually have their own skate team and are hella legit! Would love to see a video reviewing their boards.
Lol sounds like some kid screaming Mortal Kombat lol 😂
Thanks John! Take care of yourself bro! ✌️
There's a solid manufacturer in Alabama about an hour away from my house. Been in the game for over 20 years.
could u tailslide the upper ledge of the two level ledge? idk i just wanna see it. 🙏🏾
The double ledge was rad.
I was at Crowley park a few days ago. Cool seeing it in a video
i live here too

loving your videos more than ever❤
John Hill looks like handsome squid wars haha
I thought that screaming was part of the music at first 💀
Was that screaming coming from that van and or was that van bangbus the van😂😂😂
what size you skate
Me and everyone I know bought their first board off of amazon😂
where is this skatepark
Love your videos bro
This must be the most elaborate analysis on this Amazon board😂
I LOVE YOUR VIDS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUTCH
In the intro I thought the nose snapped, but it was just gnarly wheel bite.
Maybe smaller wheels or trucks would help ease that.
what was this song at 6:33
John what’s the name of that track?
Wow whatever company made that park also made my hometown park in Lake of the Ozarks MO. Never seen another park with those ramps
The Jack London of Skateboards??? 😁

Always love ur content dude :)
I swear he is the smoothest man alive😂
👇
You should review cal7 boards
They were budget boards, got a complete for 40 bucks
Think it’s 50 now cause inflation
But anywho, it was the best cheap skateboard I’ve ever used
BRO THE SCREAMING SOUNDED LIKE SOMEBODY SAYING HELP ME AND THEN THERE IS A BIG WHITE VAN IN THE BACK
Magnolia is a very cool Skate Shop
This was my first board and I got new trucks and wheels bc my friend snapped the trucks right away
You're a good guy John
Plot twist : It's actually a Ouija board 😂
🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁
Anyone know where this park is located? Thanks in advance
crowley recreation center, i live here
Still, always support the local shop and fudge amazon.
I assumed the trucks were loose because they are tightened for a child. That's how my nephew's Element complete came as well, it was ultra loose because kids don't have the weight to push down as hard to turn.
JOHN HILL
Love this video

Go back and skate the spine! 😅
Thanks for another great video
The Jack London of Skateboard??
Really you can see the quality of the board by looking at the wood, I feel like I'd be able to snap it in a single sesh😂
You should have tried swapping the bushings
Who’s to say if you change the bushings it could be better.
can you make a video of the skateboard that cost 99 dollars in amazon - magneto suv
Not to nitpick, but those sounded like issues with the bushings not the trucks. A lot cheaper and easier to replace bushings than the trucks.
Mini logo and cal 7 are really good brands and have really cheap completes
A cheap board is better than not having one to ride. I always pass down my old decks to younger ridere ar my park.
Lmao now it's 140
Song?
They should get a mini logo complete 60bucks and a free skatepack
Hey is the progress daily website working for anyone else?
