Semi bottoms are the best, most efficient way to lay base rock down. That is some beautiful country there, I love those kinds of jobs! Gotta do those pre trip inspections at least once a week for cracks in the suspension and undercarriage. Sling that rock! 💪👊🤙

swn02 I like those 3 Axle Scannia Conventionals. If I bought a foreign Truck it would be one of them, but I don’t think they make them anymore. I can see Europe having Cabovers, but NZ Roads aren’t that tight, are they?

    • @swn02

@@Len_M. yeah some can be a bit tight, so it does limit some trucks, but those 4 axle trailers have the last axle as a steer

Hey Jeff, "Paperwork" love your sense of humour, great to see that 352 working, when i was looking to buy my first semi i looked at one that somebody had imported from the USA to here in the Uk. but decided against it because i was worried about getting parts for it in UK wish i knew then what i know now! still kick myself for not buying it LOL! stay safe. When I was working I loved doing these type of jobs for the USFS. But I had cross drains about every 200'-400' and heavy timber/brush on 98% of the job (both sides of road)....and roads up to 13-14 % grade, although rarely. Usually steepest grades were 8% and under. Great jobs, alone in nature with no one but the occasional car, ....fun projects.
2006 Volvo L70E brochure says 2.4 cu.m. = 3.07cu.yds. If bucket is heaped to 110% maximum capacity = 3.38 cu. yds. (this is loose yards which converts to....4 3/4" thickness = 4" compacation (1 3/16" compacts to 1") for chert base rock, with up to 18% of material passing the 200 sieve (all 1 1/2" minus). Probably about the same as your material (I placed 7.25" for 6" compacted thickness which is usually what the contracts were).
This is all my 'redneck southern math', (47 years contracting) "your mileage may vary"...lol ....13

Hello... I´ll try to help you. The Volvo number on the loader indicate the tipping load in metric tonnes. So the L 70 have a tipping load of 7 tonne. i guess that it takes about three tonnes in the bucket (metric) On the excevators the number indicate machine weight. in metric tonnes.
