Thank you so much man! this had been driving me crazy for a while, I train for rock climbing and end up with blood sugar through the roof after a gym session but could never figure out why!
I'm a type 2 and I see my sugar go way down in my weight lifting workouts. I have to make sure I go into it with sugar at least 120-140 and by the time I'm done sugar down in the 80's & 90's.
Strange, when I do weights, I end up much HIGHER than before. I dont know what to do..... MY latest A1C was 14.3! Doctor says eat less, exercise more... Fine. I do. BUT end up with numbers much higher... OH and best of all, I eat less...end up passing out! smh. I am so lost, any guidance?
@@Hands-onNow I was going high doing cardio workouts and tried everything. So I got brainstorming & researching. Exercise can cause a stress response and the steps response can cause you to burn muscle. It can break down muscle protein into glucose causing sugar to rise further. So I found out that there are supplements called HMB and HICA which are metabolites of the best building building amino acid. They help prevent muscle protein breakdown and boost protein synthesis. I started taking that before every workout and sugar doesn't spike. The one day I didn't take it before cardio my sugar spiked to 200. So I know it works. You can buy them separately or what I buy is MOAB at RedCon1. It has HMB, HICA, and epicatechin in it. It's $60 unless u can find their site having a sale. And they do have sales frequently. Don't know if it'll work for u but it did for me. It's powder and u can mix it with anything.
Cheers for this, been searching for "what supplements should a type 2 diabetic take?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Anebriel Foundational Ascendancy - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great exclusive guide for discovering how to reverse type 2 diabetes minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got excellent success with it.
Yes, I had previously read that Adrenalin and Cortisol will increase blood sugar measurements. But what I find interesting for me is that riding a 18-speed road bike does not solicit the same blood sugar spike. All I can figure is that seeing sights and the distractions is relaxing and pleasurable and the somehow this calms me to suppress the production of Adrenaline and Cortisol. Bodies and the mind do strange things.
Im sorry, but this keep it in range thing doesnt work at ALL for me. When I go into training with a good level Bloodsugar say 7,2 I ALWAYS end up in a hypo. Cancel training, go home. So I stopped all of it. Its frustrating and a waste of time. Fitness trainers cant understand or help. Not even my doctor. Glad I found this channel, I wonder if it will help when I find the right video..
It’s normal for certain exercise, especially high intensity exercise, to raise your blood glucose levels, and, in the long run, exercise decreases blood glucose and insulin levels.
In my case, resistance training lowers my blood glucose. I get great readings in the morning or too low of a reading now and then. Do what works for you as an individual. We are not made from the same cookie cutter.
Awesome. Sorry I get nosey but how long have you been lifting and which type of training (strength, hypertrophy, endurance) and at what time of day. I'm very curious 🙈
Catalytic Contreras I’m not worried about looks. Just concerned about diabetes type 1. I work out in the evening in my garage. I do want to improve endurance though. Low carb diet for me. This is what has been working for me personally
@@isaacg783_ ya it worked but i don't recommend it.. unless you have something that checks you consistently like a CGM or something.. cuz i feel low and i feel normal again.. it was wired.. i work out in the afternoon now

I am a type 2 diabetic. I train mixed martial arts MMA fighting. And I've noticed that my blood sugar was Spike during a hard workout like last night it was 210 after my workout. And I ate no carbs. How can I control this during my workout. If I don't take insulin.
Ron Smith i have the same issue! I control my blood sugar with food and my readings are high after I workout. I have no choice but to work out in the evening. I then have a high reading in the morning. All day long i am fine! Idk what to do
Ron Smith the only way is not to train so hard. There’s a strong correlation between insulin resistance and endothelial dysfunction, so think about your long term health. Swap a hard mma workout with a slow steady state run
Hi phil,, my husband has type 2 diabetes, he lost 20kg within 6 months. Now he is just 59kg😰😰. Now He started to eat more protein rich diet and avoiding carbohydrates and sugar. His blood sugar is still high even with workout... whats the reason for that and what to do now. Pls let me know. 👍
Thanks for the video, I am still a little confused though. I have been on a 4 day fast, I have managed to get my basal insulin levels to keep me in the 4 to 6 range. This evening, I did a test, and I was 4.6, and so, a 10 mile bike ride at normal pace, was what I decided to do. I was, at points, exhausted because in North wales, where I live, there are a number of hills. My thought is that after I had been on the fast for 3 days, my muscle glycogen and liver glycogen had all been eliminated, and my fuel can only come from fat - yet, when I got home after the ride, I tested, and it was 8.7 - nightmare! Before my fast, I was doing keto, and I am able to keep my levels stable, but this episode has got me thinking what on earth is going on with my blood sugars? Any ideas?
Have gone through the same experience. It is normal. But take care not to over do but to gradually move from one activity to another. Else the body experiences shock and these are nothing but the body's response to such shocks.
Hi, hope you can help me with one question. I am a type 1. Here a scenario that usually happens when I train fasted: Glucose is normal (5-7 mmol/l) when waking up at 5.30 am. After training from 6-7 am, fasted in RPT style however, the blood sugar goes up to 14 mmol/l. Now, will it break my fast if i correct that with insulin? Or is only food considered as braking the fast?? My goal at the moment is fat loss, so should I correct the spike or not and maybe just look for alternative excersises.. thanks
Yes it will break your fast as it is utilising fuel. If you are fasting to control bodyweight - respect the fact that total calories across the day is the biggest factor that will influence your rate of gain. High blood sugars are catabolic and will kill your muscle mass and strength if left untreated.
There would be a naturally occurring insulin response in a non-diabetic person, and this would not be considered breaking a fast. I've been a type 1 diabetic for 35 years and do not know how this could be considered breaking a fast as the process is autophagic in nature. The body creating that fuel from itself is not breaking a fast by any mean.

My weight seems to go up and down pretty often but I've been sitting at about 240 for awhile. Any advice would be great.

if you eat too much protein your body converts it to glucose, try keep the total daily protein intake between 1g/kg and 2g/kg
he might still have a large reserve of glycogen ...read about something called the somyogi effect
I've never gone high while working out. I always go low and bring juice boxes with me when I do. I use an insulin pump.
@Corazón thank you. I use a pump so it's a little more complicated but I understand the concept and I'll try to adjust it.
So is it worth it to pretreat the glucose spike?
