I did this last year, so let's do it again, "brief" thoughts on every song! LET'S GO Albania: Yes, yes and yes. If feels so grand and so epic. It's not my number 1 like last year, but it's in my top 5 Armenia: I now love this song a lot. I think I was taken back by the lack of ethnic elements, but I like it Australia: My home country. I didn't like that mean of the national selections songs, but I like Kate's voice I think the staging needs to be a bit less chaotic. Austria: Bit disappointed with this one, i feel like its a very, very slow build Azerbaijan: Yes. So good, I would love to see the orange costume guy and the old lady in Tel Aviv. Belarus: I'm Lukewarm on it. Belgium: YES. SO GOOD. Yes, the chorus isn't the greatest, but it has a hook. The verses are so good! Croatia: I would like it more when i see him without the wings. Cyprus: I'm ehh about it. I don't like how industrial it sounds (if that makes sense?) Czech Republic: SUCH A BOP. SUCH A GOOD BOP Denmark: Yeah I think they need to add colour to staging. Go full Zoe in Stockholm Estonia: I feel like in a year where there are SO MANY countries taking risks, this feels so safe. Finland: See Estonia France: I'm still not there on the song, yet. But yes I need a better performed live. Georgia: He is selling this, yes. And i think it will be better without a judge dancing to a song that you can't dance too. Germany: I just find it confusing how an act call Sisters, aren't sisters and are singing a song called sister. And why is sisters stylized like S!sters Greece: So good. SO BLOODY GOOD. IN MY TOP 10 EASY. HER VOICE THE SONG YES Hungary: I have tried listening to this without thinking of Origio, but i can't not hear this without being disappointed at how this is as good as Orgio Iceland: Oh boy. That's all. Ireland: Yeah they need to stage the hell out of this song. Because yes the music video is quite basic. Israel: Yes the musical song, I feel like its about a someone leaving home and moving to like a big city, before coming back home and realizing home was good enough. Italy: With Albania in my top 4. Love. Love, Love. SO GOOD SO CURRENT. I wouldn't mind this winning! Latvia: A tad, too slow for me. Lithuania: Ehhh, His voice is Great, but it's better than the song Malta: My ancestral home. And for the first time in years Proud of Malta's entry. So good, but the drop will divide. Moldova: In my cup, is a warm glass of Milk with some Milo Montenegro: Look it won't come last, it might come 2nd last. N. Macedonia: please, don't stuff up the staging. It's a ballad they shouldn't stuff up the staging, yeah? Norway: I like the parts, the verses, the yoink, But I don't like them both together. Maybe i'll like it more live in Israel. Poland: Bit too much yelling for me Portugal: The song I love. I'm still hella confused about the staging tho Romania: I AM SO CONFUSED ABOUT THIS SONG. So many gear changes, but Ester CAN SANG! Russia: I think it's too safe. And in a year where so many acts are risky. It might do well because it is safe. But they need to stage the hell out of it San Marino: OMG THIS I NEED IN THE FINAL. CHEESY BUT SO GOOD Serbia: It's very pretty and classy. Slovenia: Risky. I likey a lot. I hope people will get it and not find it boring Spain: LA VENDA YA CAYO! SO GOOOD. SO CATCHY, please left hand side for spain. Sweden: Hey its *not* a male pop song. It's a male Soulful song, that's different, right? Switzerland: With Albania, and Italy in my top 4. SO GOOD. SO GOOD I LOVE EVERYTHING The Netherlands: First bookies favourite that is my favourite. I want Duncan to do well on radio more than a win at eurovision. United Kingdom: Look First time in a while UK has Both a good song and good singer, can they do what they have done well and stage this well too? Top 5. 1. Netherlands 2. Switzerland 3. Italy 4. Albania 5. Malta Netherlands out front clearly, 2-4 changing daily, 5 changing between Malta, and Greece and Spain. probs.
What I like about this year is that it's surprising. First, March surprised us with amazing songs after a batch of "meh" to boring songs. Second, if someone had told me last year that I would like the Netherlands, Malta, San Marino, Switzerland and a Portuguese man singing a song called "Telephones " with Edward Scissorshands' hands, I will have deemed this person as crazy!
Love that you keep it positive even when you find the songs bad, that's what ESC is all about. And always nice to see what Americans think about this event.. Keep it up! And thanks for liking Sweden:)

This year is much better than last one! There are really strong contenders here. I don't really have one absolute favourite. If either Italy, Azerbaijan, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Malta or Cyprus wins this edition: Honestly, I'd be equally happy! :) Sweden, Switzerland, Iceland and Norway are also getting really close!

Whut are you kidding me?! Have you been listening to the diversity we finally had last year?? There is a reason Netta won, because it wasnt a 1-40 song -all-sound-the-same! It was different, catchy, and gave me a whole new artist to add to my playlist! No offence to the entries this year, but we are slowly going back to the basics which are powerfull but slower ballads. I get it, its nice and if sung well will sound amazing. However the occasional pop song jumping out from the crowd, the copycats from previous years(the opera entry) the summer radio song(cyprus-fuego-nr.2) and culturally influenced ethnic sounds is what we need to not fall asleep tbh. Throw all the ballads after eachother, and there is no way i could remember which country sang which ballad ._.

This year Eurovision is SO GOOD I think I enjoy all of the song with only 2 or 3 that I am kinda like meeeeh but they are still good. My personal favourites are Lithuania and Azerbaijan, the type of song I listen to every dang day. Pretty much agree with you, I still don't get the hype over The Netherlands' entry, it is a good song I like it but is it going to win tho? Guess that's just me lol.
Just to clarify before the hate, I am Hungarian, and I'm still thinking that one of this years weakest song is the hungarian song.... We had way much more stronger entries in the National Final.... but only time will tell

I actually think my favorite songs this year is Romania, Belgium and The Netherlands. I hate the song my country is bringing (from Denmark) It's borring and way to "cute". I hate the fact that it's sung in 3 different languages, because it's not something we do here so just why??
There are quite a few strong entries this year in my humble opinion. In particular, though, I'd say that the entries from North Macedonia and Russia have really grown on me. :)

This is a very strong year overall i feel. I honestly can't say how many of these songs are gonna end up doing because the competition is really good. Outside of Italy who i think is gonna win.

I always am a little bit dissapointed to the songs before the eurovision because I think that they wont have a good live performance and they are like radio songs but then I see the lives and I'm like wow. Like this year I dont know why people like so much about Switzerland and Azerbaijan because I think they wont have a good live perf. but maybe they will shock me:)

There is a reason Netta won, because it wasnt a 1-40 song -all-sound-the-same! It was different, catchy, and gave me a whole new artist to add to my playlist!
No offence to the entries this year, but we are slowly going back to the basics which are powerfull but slower ballads. I get it, its nice and if sung well will sound amazing. However the occasional pop song jumping out from the crowd, the copycats from previous years(the opera entry) the summer radio song(cyprus-fuego-nr.2) and culturally influenced ethnic sounds is what we need to not fall asleep tbh. Throw all the ballads after eachother, and there is no way i could remember which country sang which ballad ._.

This year Eurovision is SO GOOD I think I enjoy all of the song with only 2 or 3 that I am kinda like meeeeh but they are still good. My personal favourites are Lithuania and Azerbaijan, the type of song I listen to every dang day. Pretty much agree with you, I still don't get the hype over The Netherlands' entry, it is a good song I like it but is it going to win tho? Guess that's just me lol.

This is a very strong year overall i feel. I honestly can't say how many of these songs are gonna end up doing because the competition is really good. Outside of Italy who i think is gonna win.

I always am a little bit dissapointed to the songs before the eurovision because I think that they wont have a good live performance and they are like radio songs but then I see the lives and I'm like wow. Like this year I dont know why people like so much about Switzerland and Azerbaijan because I think they wont have a good live perf. but maybe they will shock me:)
