  • This week on Knuckleheads we got straight hoop royalty. One of the greatest legends of the women’s game, Cheryl Miller, joins Q and D. Cheryl chops it up about dominating in Los Angeles as a high schooler, scoring 105 points in a game, and why she ended up choosing USC. She gets into her time with Team USA at the Olympics, her relationship with Pat Summitt, and why she’s so grateful for the WNBA even though she didn’t get a chance to play in it. Cheryl Miller is one of them ones, you don’t want to miss this episode. Tune in!

The Wilt Chamberlain of women's basketball.
I'm not even really a watcher of women's bball but women like her and Lisa Leslie are undoubtedly legends and always carried themselves with class and grace.
If anyone in the sphere of women's basketball earned the right to have any kind of bitterness or sour grapes, it's those two. They blazed the trail and didn't have nearly the exposure/opportunities that social media and modern technology gives players today. But even in voicing their opinions, they do it with class and maturity. You hear Cheryl say "I'm blessed" even after having her career end prematurely, without being one of the richest women, etc. She's carries herself like a true legend and she's treated as such.
She said it herself "Ladies if you want everyone to respect you, start supporting one another" 🎯

I read about her 105-point game in the Saint Paul, MN newspaper, and followed her USC career through ESPN highlights and the newspapers.
Obviously, and rightfully so, she was more fully-covered by the national media during the 1984 Olympics in L.A., my favorite basketball city. And, damn, if the Russians had bothered to even show up, they woulda been destroyed!

Been a fan of Cherly for as long as I have known about basketball. Her career ended right before the WNBA was entering it's innagural season, she would have got a ring if she could do it.

This was incredibly entertaining and informative. The piece she spoke on about behind the scenes as a broadcaster was amazing to hear. Everyone learns from mistakes and grows into an even better person.
