Many people either don’t know, or have forgotten, that the cavs actually had a pretty good team back in the late 80’s...early 90’s.

Balboa the cougar slayer yeah we would of been great if we never made that trade for ferry

It didn't last very long and Jordan and the Bulls always beat them in the postseason. The Bulls are reponsible for making them irrelevant

Their window was shut by 1989 and The Shot by MJ. They had traded Harper, lost to a Bulls team that won 10 fewer games than they did in the playoffs. Magic Johnson gave them more street cred than they had earned saying they'd be the team of the 90's. But by 1989 that dream was stolen by MJ and the Bulls and then Cleveland couldn't even beat NY by 1992 if they wanted to. 92 was Cleveland finally maxing out on this era of Cleveland basketball and they had already burned 2 seasons in 90, 91. 92 they matched 89, finally won playoff series, matched up with Chicago again with same number of wins as 89, but 10 fewer than Chicago this time and they couldn't even force a seventh game.
They were in over their heads in 92 without Harper and they weren't really a true threat to either Portland or Chicago. And like I said, if NY beats Chicago in 92, NY probably beats Cleveland.
I agree, Harper trade was the unofficial end of this team.

Ron was one of those "next jordan" category. He and Derrick Harper actually had notable Defense against Mike

WRONG HE WAS IN NO NEXT JORDAN CATEGORY
HARPER INJURIES ASSIST JORDANS CAREER BUT THATS HOW THE GAME GOES

What i mean by "Next Jordan catagory":
In the early 90s sportswriters, Basketball Scouts and Pundits in general started using that term when some kid in collage had a all around game and was a Hooper at a division 1 school.
      *"next Jordans"*
Kevin Madden, Toney Mack, Matt Marquart, Cliff Rozier, Harold Miner, Felipe Lopez, Rashad McCants
      Derrick Harper, Dennis Hopson(ex bulls)
*Carbon Copies* : LeBron and Kobe
*Close but not there* : Vince Carter, Grant Hill, Bryan Russel, Jerry Stackhouse, Penny Hardaway, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade.

People forget Harper would have been better as a player but he blow out his knee and was never the explosive phenomenon he once was after the knee injury he become a solid 3rd team type guy with the clippers and then a top tier role player with the bulls

773 p Cleveland traded him before he got knee surgery. He had a pretty terrible ankle sprain though that did slow him down a little in his second year onwards.

My Family member play for the Cavs and not only that other players know...you believe everything the Media says and they be far from the truth...The media knows that Kyrie wanted to be the Leader of a team because before Lebron got there Kyrie could not carry the Cavs to a winning season until Lebron returned back....Man all I hear and see in most of the comments are Skip Bayless Disciples

Lol but we know kobe wouldn't never play for cleve he had his mind set on LA but what about nash. And ben wallace and big z . but in the end we wouldn't have lebron sooo wat the hell
