Hello World my name is Dave Sincox and I am an avid surfer from the east coast. I started surfing in the early ’90s and have constructed a way to keep time in the water year after year.
Over the years I have had tons of boards. Some I kept for weeks and some still to this day. With all the boards I have had there is one thing that is consistent. My peers' curiosity about what I am surfing and what I think about it. I am asked“ How do you like that fin ” and “ Do you think I would dig it. ” I try to explain in between sets but usually we lose each other in the elements and never finish the conversation.
So with my love of all things surf craft and some help from my friends I decided to start The Surf Craft Union. An online surfboard review to keep my exploration into alternative design fresh, but most importantly to give feedback from my perspective.
Surf Craft Union showcases Fin Chats, Inner Views, 3 For 30 with the opportunity to learn about surfboards and alternative surf craft.

I liked your explanation of hulls and how they ride. There are a few other vids out there of guys reviewing hulls and they go try to surf it like it's a performance thruster and of course, give it a poor score because it didn't perform like a higher performance board. It's nice seeing someone who has experience with hulls already and understands how they ride, give a proper assessment of the board.
I got into hulls by accident when I bought a 6'0 Wilderness Stubbie shaped out of Santa Barbara off craigslist. I knew nothing about them and bought the board anyways. That was when I started researching convex bottom surfboards and learned that I was on a displacement hull. I recently just got a 7'6 hull and it is the best board I've ever owned. They are so cruisey and really encourage the rider to just kick back in the cockpit and enjoy the ride. It's so fun just squatting in the center of the board with your feet less than shoulder width apart for max trim and just feeling the glide. It's so peaceful and really teaches you to not try to force turns or surf a certain way - but rather enjoy the ride. Another thing is I've found hulls significantly easier to get to the nose on. I've never had the balls to just suddenly start walking to the nose in the middle of a ride, but with my 7'6 I find sitting further up on the board feels way more comfortable and I've hit cheater 5's countless times. Check out the Koz McRae Mistress hull, your Fantastic Acid is very similar to the 7'6 Mistress I have.

Thanks for the amazing job of making all of these testing and reviewing. I discovered your show and it’s great to get opinions on different boards. I was wondering how would you compare the CJ Nelson Outlier to the Fantastic Acid Hull ? Cheers !

Thank you Julien. So honestly thats a tough one. they are both very similar in shape and also what's going on the bottom. I think the thunderbolt is the biggest difference honestly. Thunderbolt is way more buoyant which gives it a different feel. obviously they have slightly different rocker and dims. But all in all the thunderbolt tech is the biggest difference. I personally prefer regular PU in a hull and the foil in the FA which definetly is a little less. Hope this helps

@@surfcraftunion definitely helps, thanks for your reply. I got in touch with FA and order one of his beauty: a 8 feet speed hull. Can’t wait to ride it !

Sorry for the very late reply. I got to surf the FA speed hull last summer and fall.
Easy paddler, very smooth feeling on the wave. Now I have to learn to better hull surf but definitely an amazing board. Can’t wait the next spring to surf it again

After 5 decades I've never found a spoon concave I like. Seems like it is way too much brakes noseriding.
