Prying with a screwdriver by twisting worked fine and took 5 seconds. But thanks for the alternative way and the magnet idea. I have very strong magnets and I can hear the parts moving around but not quite strong enough to pop the pin. I LOLed when you said that most people don't have such powerful magnets but most should have a Dremel tool. Thanks for your video!
Thank you for this. The cashier checked me through, did remove the plastic alarm thing for one of the items, and as I was leaving, the alarm went off. The security girl said, you're okay. I found the tag after I got home. I tried to call them this morning, and they hang up after so many rings. Your video will save me a trip there.
Thank you! I didn’t have a dremel, but was able to cut the end off by sawing it off with a kitchen knife. Worked perfectly & saved me a trip back to the store.
Thank you so much. Got home to find out that the cashier missed two tags. You save me a trip to the store. I will return the tags on my next Target run. When you live in 115 degree heat, going outside is no fun despite my ac. Maybe a video on blocking radiant heat from the car top onto my bald head would make a good video share? THANK YOU! My niece bought a pair of pants from Target, they forgot to remove the tag. THIS WORKED!!!!! Thank you so much (We had a graduation and left at 5 am, no way we could run into a target & make graduation.
Screwdriver is easier many people have it, u can buy it anywhere and its cheap. You dont hurt yourself using screw driver you dont have to do the most, it only takes seconds. Put screwdriver in twist and it pops. Try it.
how the hell do these things actually work? I have magnets that can pick up like 50lbs and they're nowhere near strong enough to trigger this. it was hard to move the rod by hand!
So, I just watched this video, and I had a similar situation, and I learned by watching your video that if you just hit that back side you cut off hard enough, it opens :). “You are trying to open a red security tag, it can be opened with …a red security tag.”
Thanks for this! Went through target self checkout and came home to find the red thing still attached to garment 🙄🙄
Happens all the time!
Same! And my closest Target is 40 miles away!😭
same 😂😂😂
This is EXACTLY what I needed. I wasn’t looking forward to having to drive back to the store. Thanks!

I laughed at that too but then realized I have a dremel and don't have a magnet lol
I have one too, LOL.
How many women have a Dremel tool? I don't . Can you please explain how you used the screwdriver tool? Thx!

THANK YOU!!! I never even noticed it until we were home and she wanted to wear it tomorrow
Thanks. Used a hack saw instead of a Dremel. Easy peasy.
Nice!
Works great!! Thank you for the video. Saved me a trip to the store😊
bro i don’t have these tools 😅😭
Thanks. My magnets that I normally use, did not work. Darn kids and self check out!
Works great! Thanks!!!

What do you mean put screwdriver in twist? Thank you.
we will be trying this shortly... thanks!
ETA: worked perfectly.
Sooo happy to hear about your success!
oh yeah let me just get my DREMEL TOOL and saw off the back of the tag. super easy and elegant.
I just used a pair of wire cutters and chewed off the back end with them

UPDATE Comment: Tree Lopper works great, too. I had a solid encasement, no Dremel, et al.
Use a fork insert around pin and twist, the pin will bend sideways and release.
Hope we won't need it in the future, but will definitely try that next time!
Does everyone besides me have a dremel tool? 😮
I just removed one, hammer was easier lol

Great to know!
yeah i also have a fucking buzz saw in my house
So it’s the kids fault you didn’t tell them you had something that needed a tag removed? smh it’s SELF checkout.
I wasn't even there to begin with. Just had to deal with the consequences.
