    Super helpful. Thanks. Just got back from WalMart with a new vacuum. No one took it off, no one batted an eye when I walked through the exit and it chimed. To be fair, they did jump on the guy behind me so it's not like they were lazy, but now that I'm home with this thing I realize it was me who set it off. Thanks to you, I got this off.

    • @RByrne
      @RByrne 2 года назад +4

      They shouldn't be jumping on people just for setting the alarm off. They may ask nicely to see your bags, so they can "assist" removing the tag another store left on an item, but it's mainly a deterrent. Security will already know what's up before you get to the door

      Ditto. Just bought a cheap electric toothbrush on sale and checked out at the self-checkout absentmindedly without even thinking about the anti-theft stuff I'd noticed aon the package; arrived home and then had to deal with how to remove the thing. A bit of elbow grease and some jewelry wire cutters did the trick; then I put the bits in a yogurt container in the closet while looking up how to get the noise to stop on the internet! FYI By the time I watched this video in full, the alarm had stopped. No magnet on hand but I'm better informed?

      its not a trick cause if you ever worked at a store and were ever assigned to spider wrap a product then you would already know this. the tool to unlock the spider wrap is just a magnet. ask anyone whos ever worked at a store and had to spider wrap the product. the regular employees do this stuff. so yea its not a secret this is what basic workers entry level workers at a retail store are assigned to do. the tool they give you is a magnet at the store. so its not a trick its how they are actually opened.

    A fun tip for the newer shop stock lifters. Bring an empty box in to the store with you but make sure to have the box upside down so it looks closed and sealed. After using your trusty magnet skills place these items in the empty box, finally use tape to tape the box closed. This is a way to leave a store with items far too big to hide in your pants or pockets. My favourite box to use is a coles doritos bags box as they are huge and can fit about half a metre by half a metre! Have fun and don’t get caught.

    I bought a new printer from Target the other day and they left this thing on. I didn’t set off any alarm leaving the store, but there it was still on my printer box. Wasn’t really sure what it was. Grabbed a simple pair of scissors and easily cut one of the wires, at which point the alarm started going off. Not real loud but annoying. After laughing for a minute, I took it out to the garage, hit it a couple of times with a hammer, picked up the pieces and threw them away. Old school style I guess... 😆

      @@johnnyovermind9830 Technically yes, but you have to get it perfectly. If you puncture it, but the metal did not totally seperate inside the tag, it will likely still put out a signal. With those paper sticker tags, that have the spiral metal circuit bit under them, I've ripped those off, but there was still a small bit of the centre remaining, and it set the alarm off. I've also totally forgotten to remove them and not had it go off. If your having trouble taking those things off, I find the easiest way is a plastic razor blade. It works very easily and quickly and you can have it in your pocket without cutting your self to bits.

    Does it have to be a thick kind of tin foil to block rfid signals ? Do you have to use lots of layers ?

    • @heartcrafts3426
      @heartcrafts3426 3 года назад +1

      I just use a good few layers and line a carrier bag with it then put another bag inside to cover it. Works every time, don't worry about it being open near the top just close it the best you can.

      It had an rfid in it . Most of the time it usually doesn't set off the store alarm but if you want to be 100% sure wrap a piece of tin foil around it or learn how to make a faraday cage it's very very simple

    What purity and composition is your magnet? The purity (for lack of better terms) is the “N” number that should have been on the package of your magnet...N52 is the highest quality of neodymium magnets available today.. as far as composition is it just nickel plated?
    I want to know the “N” number because if you have a low quality neodymium, say N24 then I would think one could accomplish the same thing with much less of a 250 lb pull if they had an N52 magnet..in that case a 125 lb pull should do the same trick.

      No. You can slip it off. Just crush a corner of the box. Or just cut the wire, it won't squirt acid in your face. Stamp on the alarm and pocket your free battery.

    I got lucky. My blinking light wasnt on, meaning no alarm. If there is an alarm, cut it and throw it in a sink full of water. Muffles the sound and kills the alarm. By the way, those wires are super easy to cut with even a basic set of wire cutters from any multitool or pair of pliers.

    Hi there Bill I can’t find the magnet what if I just take the item out while it’s wrapped does the alarm still go off? I really don’t want an alarm sounding in my small apartment as I know I can cut it but that will trigger the alarm. I bought it at the store strangely the alarm didn’t go off and they forgot to remove the tag, the store has closed since

      If you can get the merchandise or item out of the package without putting too much tension on the spider wrap wire then no alarms will go off. Although I have to say if it is that easy to get the item out without disturbing the spider wrap then I am confused on why the spider wrap was around it in the first place

  • @omallie360
    @omallie360 2 года назад

    "not for stealing purposes" check. SO, now that THAT is out of the way, HYPOTHETICALLY speaking, you mentioned the tinfoil, it'll block the sensor from setting off the alarm, the door alarm. My question is whether or not going past that door alarm can set off the Spiders alarm as well. so say it's wrapped in foil and you go walking by one, the door alarm doesn't go off but could the spiders alarm be set off by passing it? or is it only set off itself by the wires being cut or having the key improperly removed?

    • @hillbilly31337
      @hillbilly31337  2 года назад

      How the spider alarms work is like this: there are one two multiple RFID chips inside and based on the store if they have RFID alarms when you walk out the door then it will sound the alarm on the store doors 99% of the time you can see these alarms because you have to pass through them but most stores do not have the proper settings on their doors to set off or to be set off by multiple RFID frequencies usually they're only set to the RFID frequencies on their clothes the spider tags or spider wraps are set to different RFID frequencies. But to answer your question the RFID chips in the spider wrap do not set off the alarm in the spider wrap but they trigger the sensors on the doors also if you cut the cables on the spider wrap the alarm built into the spider wrap we'll go off they say if you put pressure on the cables to pull it off of an item it'll go off but I've never seen that happen
