I wasted almost 50 years of my life in nondenominational mode after being raised Roman Catholic until my mother took us out of the church and an evangelical sister and brother in law brought me into Protestantism in my teens. I cannot express the joy I have being home again, receiving the Eucharist and being brought to tears through the sacrament of reconciliation. That first one was a biggie! Bless Father Frank, my confessor. Beaming and smiling, his last comment to me as he blessed the cross and MM I now wear religiously was, “Once a Catholic-always a Catholic.” I am a new man, a better man enjoying my catholic faith, enjoying mass, the rosary, and the immense grace it all brings. My mother was always there, she never left, I just didn’t realize she was Mary!
As you can see and feel one day living the true faith erases all those years. Yes its a lot of time lapsed but for God and our Holy mother its never too late. I pray for all your family members to reconcile with the true faith I also have witnessed and felt how true our Catholic faith is. Blessings to you and your family

Millions of Protestants who were dead and the living were denied and will continually be denied of the Eucharist for years to come. It is very sad. There is only one church that Jesus established and not 40,000 denominations. Pls. remove your pride and arrogance and open your hearts and minds.

@@jonathanpauldavenport No. He is hated, opposed, spoken against. Just like Christ. As to the Papacy, HERE is some scripture for you bibleists out there: PETER as Shepherd and first Pope: Scriptural evidence and the structure of the primitive Church make it absolutely undeniable that Christ chose Peter and that Peter was first among the twelve. Depending on the translation, Peter is mentioned 195 times. The closest is John (the beloved disciple) at just 29 times. The rest even less. Consider: Jesus entered Peter’s house. (Matthew 8:14) Jesus changed Simon's name to Peter. (John 1:42) Jesus gave Peter the keys to the gates of Heaven. (Matthew 16:19) Jesus declared Peter to the the rock. (Matthew 16:18) Jesus made Peter shepherd. (John 21:15-17) Jesus told Peter to strengthen his brothers (Luke 22:32) Jesus paid the Temple tax only for Himself and Peter. (Matthew 17:24-27) Jesus preached from Peter's boat. (Luke 5:3) Jesus told Peter to "Follow me" (John 21:19) Jesus called only Peter to walk on the water. (Matthew 14:29) Jesus predicted Peter's three-fold denial. (Matthew 26:34) Jesus predicted Peter's repentance and three-fold affirmation. (Luke 22:32) Jesus prophesied only Peter's manner of death. (John 21:18-19) Jesus taught Peter forgiveness 70 times 7 times. (Matthew 18:21-22) Jesus spoke only to Peter at Gethsemane. (Mark 14:37) Peter is always listed first of the Apostles. (Matthew 10:2, Luke 6:14, Acts 1:13) Peter was first to confess Jesus as Messiah. (Matthew 16:18) Peter alone spoke at the Transfiguration. (Matthew 17:4, Mark 9:5, Luke 9:33) Peter pointed out the withered fig tree. (Mark 11:21) Peter entered the tomb first - John deferring to him. (Luke 24:12, John 20:3-4)) Peter decided the manner of replacing Judas. (Acts 1:15-26) Peter spoke for the eleven at the Pentecost. (Acts 2:14-36) Peter was released from prison by the Angel. (Acts 12:6-11) Peter spoke for the eleven before the Council. (Acts 4:8-12) Peter held sin bound to Ananias and Sapphira. (Acts 5:1-10) Peter's shadow healed. (Acts 5:15) Peter declared the sin of Simony. (Acts 8:18-23) Peter revealed the salvation of Gentiles to the Church at Jerusalem. (Acts 11:1-18) The Angel told Cornelius to call for Peter. (Acts 10:3-8) The Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentiles as Peter preached to them. (Acts 10:44-45) At the empty tomb, the Angel said, "Go tell His disciples, and Peter." (Mark 16:7) Mary Magdalene ran to tell Peter and the beloved disciple. (John 20:2) The vision of all foods being clean was given only to Peter. (Acts 10:9-16) Peter's words silence the first council in Jerusalem. (Acts 15:7-12) Paul went to Peter to affirm that his Gospel was not in vain. (Galatians 1:18) Peter was given the revelation of the end of the world. (2 Peter 3:10-11) Peter taught that Paul’s words were easily twisted. (2 Peter 3:16) Peter taught that baptism now saves you (1 Peter 3:21) And many other references. One may deny that Peter was primary, but it takes an amazing ignorance or denial of scripture and history to do so.

My best friend and his wife are committed non denominationals theyre always trying to save me from the “cult” im a convert and we have some pretty long debates. It’s frustrating because he’ll come at me, then i have to redefine half of his terms, then show him all the biblical defenses. The intriguing part is after i defend, i push back and he never once has had a straight biblical defense. He just assumes every straight forward passage in scripture must mean something else. Like when Jesus said “go and be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect” he said in response “thats like when i tell my kids i want the room spotless, i just want them to try if i tell them just clean the room, they’ll barely do anything.” He’s impossible to satisfy
Head on arguments / debates rarely convince people to change their mind. Just like whatever they say will not convince you to "un-convert" (if there is such a word :) ), so your words will have as little impact on them. But - keep strong in defending the faith! It's a challenge to you to delve deeper into it :) The best defense is to let them see how you have changed for the better.. and of course, for you to pray for them to embark on a personal journey to find the truth for themselves. But if they are relentless - You can always ask them why God retaliated against Israel in the Exodus when they turned away from Him and worshipped Idols like the golden calf, Baal, etc - yet why, if it is not pleasing and right to God - does He allow Catholics to have the Eucharist and believe in the transubstantiation, to pray to Mary and the Saints for intercession, to administer the sacraments, to believe in the apostolic church... And yet, looking at the fruits of the Catholic church, the big ones, like western civilization, freedom of speech, a right to live a good life in peace, and generosity in the form of missions, all the work that the nuns do that go unnoticed; charity to the poor, science, etc - never mind the fact that, as is evident from the olympics this year, the attacks made on the Catholic church, subtle and deceiving, and the mere fact that your friends believe it to be a "cult" and their attacks against it as well (just because of a disagreement on HOW - not "who")... the truth is, the enemy will only attack it's enemy - not it's friend. anyway - just some rants from someone in a similar position to you :)

@jeromepopiel388 admittedly, there are a couple great non-denom preachers that really expound on the OT. Chuck missler and David pawson being two of them. I believe they're both dispensationalists, but I see past that error.
What I witnessed in non-denom is that to avoid denominational controversies, they latch onto what they define as the most un controversial Christian beliefs, essentially distilling into a message of evangelization that is forever milk for the believer. There’s so very little theology behind their Christian life or drawing you deeper. It’s a shame… and why Catholics view it as incomplete. Yeah, you have the milk… but what about the meat?
I got so frustrated when I was in college. Many of the protestant churches had several bishops. The title becomes meaningless when everyone has it. Speaking of churches wanting to become more Catholic, a few years back there was a protestant church that offered ashes on Ash Wednesday. They offered it as a drive thru service. You can't make this stuff up.
Exactly! I always ask, “Then what do you believe in?” Or I simply say that I’m Catholic and then they tell me what they don’t believe in and that tells me alot about what denomination they really are.
I’m always amazed at the lack of Protestant rationality! They claim to be bible believers then say that baptism is optional, the Eucharist is symbolic, try to justify unbiblical sola Scriptura & sola fide, OSAS, personal interpretation etc The blasphemy of claiming that consuming His Real Presence is cannibalism is breathtaking! They falsely claim that the CC deleted the second commandment when it is included in our first commandment & insist again falsely, that we worship Mary. The latter is because Protestants don’t understand proper worship as they don’t have altars nor liturgical sacrificial worship, so not “church”, more like synagogue with prayer & teaching!

I grew up in nondenominational evangelical churches and attended them all my life. Great people, but the theology is extremely shallow and surface level. Can you do a video on how there were 73 books in the Bible for over 1100 years and then one man removed 11 books but a lot of people don’t realize Luther had removed the books of revelation Hebrews James and Jude, but put them back in after outcry
Actually, Martine Luther (15 30’s) TRIED to remove 11 books (7 OT & 4 NT) total because they did not agree with his newfound heretical theology. (James, Jude, Hebrews, and Revelation + 7 Deuterocanon) BUT, he just moved them to an “appendix” but they remained. In fact, the King James Version of 1611 had ALL 73 books still. It wasn’t until the British and Foreign Bible Society “voted” to remove the 7 Deuterocanon books in 1880’s. Then in 1904, the Gideons mass printed free bibles removing the 7 books because 1) IT WAS CHEAPER and 2) IT WAS CONVERTING PEOPLE TO CATHOLICISM. It was THEN, when bibles were in every hotel, school, prison, etc. that people began to believe that Catholics ADDED those books. The deuterocanon (2nd) books were actually protocanonical (1st books). They were ALWAYS there when Catholics constructed the 27 NT bible books in 382, 393, and 397 AD in councils of Rome, Hippo, and Carthage, respectively. We use the Greek Septuagint which have 49 OT books, which were transcribed under King Ptolemy in 200 BC by 72 Jewish Scribes. Each scribe was separated by the King and after they were done, all 72 copies were compared and identical despite King Ptolemy preventing their collaboration to ensure they didn’t hide any books from him. The Septuagint was spread throughout the Hellenistic world among the diaspora Jews. These were the books Jesus and Apostles used AND quoted from. Finally, the 3 Great Codices AND the Dead Sea Scrolls codices ALL have the 7 books in them that were later removed by protestants. Hope this helps
@@o.o.2255 The "Bibleists" champion the Bereans, which were far from the best examples. Yet, the Bereans consulted the Septuagint which had the seven "anti-Protestant" books. Did those who converted compare the Christ whom Paul preached with the "just man" in Wisdom 2:12-20? Along with many existing scriptures, Luther did not like 2 Peter, either. As to James ("I will have that letter in my fireplace" - Martin Luther) Luther's slavish lieutenant Philipp Melanchthon wrote an extensive apologia harmonizing James with Paul - lest Martin Luther also toss James out. As to the Apocalypse, Luther said "A revelation should reveal something." For someone who staked his eternity on scripture alone, there is certainly much scripture he hated. He stood on conscience, but his conscience was his undoing.

The Church was not established '"right from the beginning." The earliest church had its beginnings in the 2nd century; but, even then, there was no central authority. That all came later when the Bishop of Rome became more powerful than the other bishops. Various councils determined what was true or heresy. The First Council of Nicaea was presided over, not by the pope or his legates, but by Bishop Hosius of Cordova. The Council itself was called by the Eastern Roman Emperor Constantine.
@@ardalla535 Matthew 16:13-19 is clear, Jesus established a Church; Jesus gave Simon Peter the keys of the Kingdom; the Book of Acts shows a definitive , hierarchical Church, fully operative in the 1st Century. All the writings of the Church fathers show a Christianity utterly organized around the authority of Bishops, with loyalty to the Bishop and belonging to the visible , living Church as the litmus test for truly being a Christian. Read the seven letters of Ignatius of Antioch as a clear example. There was no definitive cannon of New Testament Scripture until 382 AD, established by the Council of Rome under Pope Damasus and the Bishops of the Church. Which came first, the Complete Bible or the Church? Answer: The Church, that in turn, by its Divine authority, gave us the New Testament.
Funny that Protestantism starts in rebellion and then the rebellion against IT continues until no one can agree with anyone else so it is compete disunity. Jesus warned Peter that Satan wanted to sift him. Satan sifted and he is still sifting but he's sifting those who left Peter.

@Justas399 you are flatly wrong. The word "Pope" is a Latin transliteration of the word Abba (which means father-which St. Paul uses to describe his role as a member of the Roman clergy). It wasn't in the vernacular until the 200s. Using your logic you'd have to reject any Bible written in English since none exist in English prior to the Douay Rheims Bible in the 1500s (a Catholic Bible btw, dispelling the nonsense notion that the Church did want to people to read the Bible). But if those churches were "nondenom" then why does St. Paul feel comfortable telling them what to do? And why do they obey him? Oh right because he was sent by St. Peter to evangelize the churches. Further, why does the book of Romans read VERY different than the other Epistles? Oh right, because St. Peter was the bishop of Rome. The earliest non-biblical writings from before 100 AD assert the primacy of the Roman bishop. The Didache was the manual for all churches to follow and it was in use before Acts, John, or Revelation were even written. To say nothing of the fact that Popes Linus and Clement are both mentioned in the NT. Repent of your heresies and false Gospel before it's too late.

History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, - the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, - the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century and ONLY the 27 books, - not only did they not agree but their individual lists of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time, growing in numbers of hundreds of “inspired” NT writings. Sadly "non-denominational" is often used as a cowardly euphemism for "we've invented a new protestant denomination and we refuse to give a name to it, but we welcome all Christians to convert from their current church or denomination to ours", E-Z faith, one without someone telling you what to do, a self-authorized version of the NT Church.where the individual assumes the title of Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, Teacher, Exorcist and Vicar of Christ along with being the infallible interpreter of the Holy Scriptures with a direct line to heaven guided by the Holy Spirit. He took the bait and now he's hooked on a "non denomination church" as he calls it. It has no name. He was told that he needs a relationship, not a religion, Being Christian is being Catholic--one, holy and universal. Sadly my friend, you are a disciple of John Calvin, and Martin Luther born in the 1500's. No other denominations can trace back their lineage from the apostles
So as a non denominational Christian my experience of knowing Jesus Christ , experiencing Gods love, being set free from the dominion of sin ,being and learning to love is nothing but nonsense?
To not have a denomination is to not have an opinion on anything. Like it or not, you do have opinions and beliefs and those beliefs line up with a particular denomination. There's really no escaping it.
@@RolandoMartinez-bp1ox If scripture interpreted scripture, or if, as we hear so often "the Holy Spirit teaches us to interpret the scripture", then logic would say that we would all have the same interpretation of scripture. If I have one understanding of scripture and you have another, then one of us is wrong and one is right. Or perhaps there is no right understanding for scripture, we can each have our own personal understanding of scripture. But if that were true, then there would be no point to "scripture interprets scripture" or "the Holy Spirit guides us" - if every interpretation is true then outside guidance is pointless. As a Catholic, I can read the scriptures and have my own opinion on much of it. There is nothing preventing that. But when interpretations involve doctrine, the Church provides an infallible interpretation. John 3:5-6 has only one meaning. John 6:53-56 has one only meaning. Those interpretations have been held by the Church since the beginning, as verified by outside sources, the early church fathers. It's the lack of authority to provide a common interpretation that has led to so many denominations among Protestants.

God the Father has all Authority John 5:19-"Jesus said to them, "Truly ,truly, i say to you ,the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the father doing; for whatever he does, that the Son does likewise."the Authority of the father is Biblical but you went to far in youre explanation. "That logos is a distinct and subordinate God." There can be only one God that we worship. Also YHWH is a jealous God. The bible says what it means and means what it says. No need to interpret it. Do not make and or bow to images means not to make and or bow befor images.

Theology is nonsense. All of it. The best you can do is a valid but unsound syllogism (without evidence to support it). So dunking on “non-denom” is super ironic to someone outside of the cult.
While i appreciate the tradition and the structure, i am discouraged by your lack of examination of why the various denominations or divisions happened. Im guessing the majority of times it was in response to the actions of the established church, not some sort of hubris of the breakaway church. I think some examination of your own church is in order prior to passing judgment on other churches.
Vincent of Lerins “I have often then inquired earnestly and attentively of very many men eminent for sanctity and learning, how and by what sure and so to speak universal rule I may be able to distinguish the truth of Catholic faith from the falsehood of heretical depravity; and I have always, and in almost every instance, received an answer to this effect: that whether I or anyone else should wish to detect the frauds and avoid the snares of heretics as they arise, and to continue sound and complete in the Catholic faith, we must, the Lord helping, fortify our own belief in two ways: first, by the authority of the divine law [Scripture], and then by the tradition of the Catholic Church. But here some one perhaps will ask, ‘Since the canon of Scripture is complete, and sufficient of itself for everything, and more than sufficient, what need is there to join with it the authority of the Church’s interpretation?’ For this reason: Because, owing to the depth of holy Scripture, all do not accept it in one and the same sense, but one understands its words in one way, another in another, so that it seems to be capable of as many interpretations as there are men. . . . Therefore, it is very necessary, on account of so great intricacies of such various errors, that the rule for the right understanding of the prophets and apostles should be framed in accordance with the standard of ecclesiastical and catholic interpretation” (The Notebooks 2:1-2 [A.D. 434]).

Protestant here: 0:57 It's the "height of audacity and hubris" when Protestants do it, but not when the Roman bishop does it? At least when a Protestant pastor shares his interpretation of scripture, he doesn't anathematize his congregation if they don't agree with everything he says. Just a friendly reminder that when Rome anathematizes someone, the statement in part reads "...we judge him condemned to eternal fire with Satan and his angels..." 6:25 There is not one single Protestant group who says "we are the church" (exclusively), that's you guys Hugh! Protestants believe they are PART of the one true church, and affirm that the RCC is too. Roman Catholics believe their single institution is the church and no one else, which is also the belief held by the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Assyrian Church of the East. 9:03 Hugh, what? You're claiming that non-denominational churches put too much emphasis on submission to authority? Rome barres you from communion and condemns you to hell (see first comment) unless you submit to the Roman bishop's teachings! Non-denominational churches have plenty of stuff to criticize, but criticizing their authority structure when you're Roman Catholic seems wild to me. 13:12 The Eastern Orthodox would say the exact same thing. How come it took hundreds of years for Rome to start making supreme bishop claims? 13:25 Find me the earliest possible source that claims Mary was assumed into heaven. Remember, this is a historical event that either happened or it didn't, not something like the Trinity which can start off with smaller pieces and come to a more formal understanding later. 14:23 Sola Scriptura doesn't mean we believe everything is in the Bible, Hugh. It means everything we believe INFALLIBLY comes from the Bible, and not a telephone game spanning thousands of years involving some pretty messed up dudes along the way. 15:00 Not having the New Testament books declared at a council does NOT mean we didn't know what was in the NT. Peter refers to Paul's writings as scripture in the Bible. You get Trinity from the Bible, not the other way around. Claiming that Sola Scriptura means we can't have the Trinity is ridiculous. By the way, you're also picking and choosing your council proclamations. Council of Hippo/Carthage weren't ecumenical, they were pretty small. Every time a council says something Rome doesn't like, they just say "well that one wasn't ecumenical". But not this one! 16:19 That's CRAZY Hugh. The church fathers all have different opinions on basically every single topic imaginable. ESPECIALLY Matthew 16 which you love so much. Did you know that an enormous chunk of them believe something completely different than what Rome claims is the "constant teaching of the church"? 17:22 If you're going to say there's 35,000 Protestant denominations, do you also affirm that there's 242 Roman Catholic denominations? That's what the source for that number says. 18:23 Hugh, do we earn our salvation by doing good works? No? Then we receive it by faith apart from works. That's the whole argument. Faith that saves you will result in good works, but God doesn't have a tally list you need to finish before you're saved. Which chapter and verse did Luther add "alone" to? 19:43 You mean like the Coptic church who has succession from Mark? Or the Eastern Orthodox? Or some of the Anglican/Lutheran churches that have succession? Or does succession only matter when it's you guys? 21:20 The Roman Catholic church has been teaching the same stuff the whole time? That's a pretty bold claim. 22:55 I mean, it can be replaced though. What do you think the Eastern Orthodox claim? How about the other churches that teach similar things? Protestants are at home Hugh, stop trying to make us feel like we're not. That's just manipulative language.
00:57 That ritual is no longer used. 6:25 Jesus said that he was going to build his Church. Your messiah, Martin Luther said, “Hold my beer”. 9:03 Protestants believe that their bible, and not God, is the final authority. 14:23 You guys can’t even agree on who is allowed to be baptized. 16:19 Try actually reading the writings of the Church Fathers. 17:22 Are they in communion with Rome or are they just calling themselves Catholic? 19:43 Protestantism denies Apostolic Succession and since your messiah was not a bishop, he could not ordain anybody.
What do you think the Bible is? It's the "word of God", that's like saying "you Americans believe what the president says is the final authority, not the president himself". I'll make sure to let my Lutheran friends know they're not actually protestant since they have apostolic succession. If you give me one church father who agrees with Rome on Matthew 16, ill give you three who dont.
@@mikekukovec4386 There is no way they they can have Apostolic Succession since that requires an unbroken line of Bishops that goes all the way back to the Apostles. Martin Luther was not a Bishop and even if he was, he would have lost all the rights and privileges as a bishop of the Catholic Church for rebellion against God and the Church. What part of Matthew 16. Which verse?
I'll focus on one particular comment. Quoting you: "The church fathers all have different opinions on basically every single topic imaginable." Reply - Let's look at the Early Church and Church Fathers views on the Eucharist. 1) *Didache - 50-70 AD* *And let none eat or drink of your Eucharist but such as have been baptized into the name of the Lord,* for of a truth the Lord hath said concerning this, *Give not that which is holy unto dogs.* ( 9:1-5) 2) *St. Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110 A.D.)* *_I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life._** I desire the Bread of God, WHICH IS THE FLESH OF JESUS CHRIST,* who was of the seed of David; and *for drink I DESIRE HIS BLOOD,* which is love incorruptible. (Letter to the Romans 7:3) Take care, then, to *use one Eucharist, so that whatever you do, you do according to God: FOR THERE IS ONE FLESH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and one cup IN THE UNION OF HIS BLOOD; one ALTAR,* as there is one bishop with the presbytery… (Letter to the Philadelphians 4:1) *They [i.e. the Gnostics] abstain from the Eucharist* and from prayer, *because they do not confess that THE EUCHARIST IS THE FLESH OF OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST,* flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. (Letter to Smyrnians 7:1)
3) *St. Justin the Martyr (c. 100 - 165 A.D.)* We call this food Eucharist; and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [Baptism], and is thereby living as Christ has enjoined. *For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these;* but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, *_the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer_** set down by Him, AND BY THE CHANGE OF WHICH our blood and flesh is nourished, IS BOTH THE FLESH AND THE BLOOD OF THAT INCARNATED JESUS.* (First Apology, 66) Moreover, as I said before, concerning the sacrifices which you at that time offered, God speaks through Malachi [1:10-12]…It is of the *SACRIFICES OFFERED TO HIM IN EVERY PLACE BY US, the Gentiles,* that is, *OF THE BREAD OF THE EUCHARIST AND LIKEWISE OF THE CUP OF THE EUCHARIST,* that He speaks at that time; and He says that we glorify His name, while you profane it. (Dialogue with Trypho, 41) 4) St. Irenaeus of Lyons (c. 140 - 202 A.D.) *…He took from among creation that which is bread, and gave thanks, saying, "THIS IS MY BODY."* The cup likewise, which is from among the creation to which we belong, *HE CONFESSED TO BE HIS BLOOD.* He taught *THE NEW SACRIFICE OF THE NEW COVENANT,* of which Malachi, one of the twelve prophets, had signified beforehand: [quotes Mal 1:10-11]. By these words He makes it plain that the former people will cease to make offerings to God; *BUT THAT IN EVERY PLACE SACRIFICE WILL BE OFFERED TO HIM,* and indeed, a pure one; for His name is glorified among the Gentiles. (Against Heresies 4:17:5) But what consistency is there in those who hold that *the bread over which thanks have been given IS THE BODY OF THEIR LORD, and the cup HIS BLOOD,* if they do not acknowledge that He is the Son of the Creator… How can they say that the flesh which has been nourished *BY THE BODY OF THE LORD AND BY HIS BLOOD* gives way to corruption and does not partake of life? *…For as the bread from the earth, receiving the invocation of God, IS NO LONGER COMMON BREAD BUT THE EUCHARIST, consisting of two elements, earthly and heavenly…* (Against Heresies 4:18:4-5) If the BODY be not saved, then, in fact, neither did the Lord redeem us with His BLOOD; and neither is the cup of the EUCHARIST THE PARTAKING OF HIS BLOOD nor is the bread which we break THE PARTAKING OF HIS BODY… *He has declared the cup, a part of creation, TO BE HIS OWN BLOOD, from which He causes our blood to flow; and the bread, a part of creation, HE HAS ESTABLISHED AS HIS OWN BODY,* from which He gives increase to our bodies. When, therefore, *the mixed cup and the baked bread receives the Word of God and BECOMES THE EUCHARIST, THE BODY OF CHRIST,* and from these the substance of our flesh is increased and supported, how can they say that the flesh is not capable of receiving the gift of God, WHICH IS ETERNAL LIFE -- *flesh which is nourished BY THE BODY AND BLOOD OF THE LORD…receiving the Word of God, BECOMES THE EUCHARIST, WHICH IS THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST…* (Against Heresies 5:2:2-3)
I don't think it's nonsense at all. I think God uses all churches. There seems to be a trend these days of pastors giving up on non-denominational Christianity and going Catholic but the reality it that it's just another denomination. God uses that too. I believe you were called to found that church and it is still a work of God and you shouldn't down it. Let it be. Souls are being saved, people are being transformed. It's all good. I really think Catholic apologists need to bury the hatchet. If you think Catholicism is the truth and that's your conviction then you must follow your convictions. By all means point out dangerous heresy like the prosperity and money-grabbing pastors out there, but most churches are doing a good work in the world. Catholicism is not "The one true church". It's just "One church".
@robinconnelly6079 Amen! That's the most logical comment I've seen out of anybody on here. I mean the guy used the worst examples of Pastors on his thumbnail. Jesus est His One True Church, Mt 16 18-19 which is the pillar & foundation of Truth 1 Tim 3:15 which Ignatius named as Katholikos or Universal in 107AD which codified your bible in 382AD. Other than the Orthodox, there are no other “churches” as they don’t have altars nor liturgical sacrificial worship so don’t understand proper worship, more like synagogue with prayer & teaching!
WOW!!!!! I got 1 minute into your video and immeditely spotted your flaws before you even had got into your vain diatribe. 1 - Every Protestant church is a man made church - Every Roman Catholic one is too. 2 - "Some of them are even named after them, Lutheran Church etc. - You could only name the Lutheran Church. No others. But I refer you to the Roman catholic orders named after men, Franciscan (Francis), Dominican (Dominic), Augustinian (Augustine). My list could go on. @@catholicskeptic Your initial comments were so erratic and so misplaced from the truth of church history that I figured you needed to go back to the start and re-learn most of it all over again. These present day faith-systems are just corruptions of the original true church as was started at pentecost. However. If you were a Pastor, when you left your Church, no one knew it. They were all completely asleep. I can't believe I made it to the 23:31 mark. If any religious organization can be defined by the word "nonsense", it is the "Roman" Catholic business based in Italy. When Jesus told Peter and the Apostles "upon this rock . . . @@mikepennn If you truly believe the Bible, only the Catholic Church recognizes what the Bible clearly shows: Christ gave the Apostles the power to forgive or retain sins( John 20:21-23); He declared clearly and unequivocally that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood, when the crowd reacted with shock at it, He doubled down even stronger ( John 6:48-58); He established an actual Church, and promised the gates of hell would not prevail against it ( specifically it, the Church, Matthew 16:13-19) . I cannot believe He was talking about just individuals gathering however they want, or feel led. Groups that all believe different things, and each interpretation of the Bible is completely different. The Catholic Church has existed as one continuous organization , teaching the same truth , and outlived whole nations, empires and civilizations. Yes it has had corruption, apostates, and evil leaders. But it also has had the greatest of saints, miracles, and has impacted civilization in the most amazing ways. Hospitals , Universities, scientific achievements and even had a major hand in bringing down communism. So is it a Bible believing chuch? The Church gave us the complete Bible; preserved it, copied it and kept it spreading. No it didn't ban it, burn it or a y other of the lies and distortions of anti-catholic literature. I believe that the Catholic Church is the One True Church founded by Christ.
@@tony1685 well there's John 20: 21-23 , where Christ clearly gave His Apostles the power to remit or retain sins. There is John 6:48-58, Where He clearly teaches that unless you eat His Body and drink His Blood, you have no life in you. There is Matthew 16:13-19, where Jesus clearly established a church, gave Peter the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and said the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Revelation 5 clearly shows individuals in heaven carrying individuals prayers on earth to God; and Revelation 8:3-4, clearly shows an angel carrying prayers up to God , from men. Luke 1:39-44 shows that when Mary visited Elisabeth, she gave her reverence as the Mother of her Lord. These are just few examples of how many things the Bible says that only make sense if one believes the Catholic Church. The Bible made me Catholic. Notice readers of this , that one can make declarations like "we see zero evidence of this in scripture ", yet I can, off the top of my head, show several direct Bible passages that show very Catholic doctrines in the Bible . When I was a Protestant Pastor, I discovered there are so many parts of the Bible that can only be understood by what the Catholic Church says, and it was the Catholic Church that selected, codified and gave us the New Testament canon.
@@tony1685 Hahaha, yep, The Bible says, oh, wait, what its really about, what it really means is.... blah, blah, Blah. It's always the same, when you ( and I don't mean you specifically, but the standard Protestant response I get in comments) see scripture that doesn't say what you expect, or want, or are fearful it might be saying... then starts the "explain-it-away" trope. Oh see, it really means this, that , or the other thing. If you throw away all grammatical logic, Matthew 16 , it's "about Peter's confession ", yep I used that all the time to justify Protestant spin when I was a Pastor. And of course you don't mention the other scriptures I stated, scriptures, and of course, you're apparently an "7th Day Adventist? I assume, from the reference to the Sabbath? It wouldn't matter to me, because Adventism, or Sabbatarianism or whatever you advocate is simply more of the variants of the ever growing, continually chaotic and confusing world of Protestantism. Just another of the 35,000 sects, churches and denominations that have sprang up since the 16th century. Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath( see Hebrews 4) , in Matthew 16:13-19, Jesus gave Peter ( not his confession, but Peter himself) the Keys. Jesus established a living , teaching Church , that's been on the earth, intact, for 2000 years. I would never buy into the " oh everyone has been so wrong, now I have the truth, follow me", syndrome, the birthplace of variations, cults, groups, sects, etc. where do I see this third party forgiveness in action? So anything in the Bible that isn't "seen in action", isn't true? So John 20:21-23, is wrong? Is error? Jesus didn't actually mean... So the scriptures are not true altogether? That, friend, is the conclusion I am forced to draw from such an argument. Since most any Protestant Christian holds to "Sola Scriptura ", that argument doesn't make sense coming from a Bible Christian. It's fascinating 🧐.
@@tony1685 Obviously you have no interest in a conversation, just skipping over all the scriptures I presented, and arguing other points we weren't even talking about. I have several videos addressing those arguments, but I am not wasting time rehashing them, when you don't even remotely deal with the ones I did a address, it represents a typical, but very weak deflecting technique. Plus you engage in accusations: "since your paragraphs are full of of misleading information ", to make such an accusatory statement, and not back it with anything, makes it a waste of time. Peter taught that Paul’s words were easily twisted. (2 Peter 3:16)
Peter taught that baptism now saves you (1 Peter 3:21)

It's a challenge to you to delve deeper into it :)
The best defense is to let them see how you have changed for the better.. and of course, for you to pray for them to embark on a personal journey to find the truth for themselves.
So we pray and demonstrate Christ to them as best we can.

Can you do a video on how there were 73 books in the Bible for over 1100 years and then one man removed 11 books but a lot of people don’t realize Luther had removed the books of revelation Hebrews James and Jude, but put them back in after outcry
I had no idea this happened until my 30's and when I found out I immediately headed in the direction of the Catholic Church.
No one listens, since they KNOW that the last thing Christ did before ascending was to hand the King James Bible to Martin Luther.
Actually, Martine Luther (15
30’s) TRIED to remove 11 books (7 OT & 4 NT) total because they did not agree with his newfound heretical theology.
(James, Jude, Hebrews, and Revelation + 7 Deuterocanon)
BUT, he just moved them to an “appendix” but they remained.

Along with many existing scriptures, Luther did not like 2 Peter, either. As to James ("I will have that letter in my fireplace" - Martin Luther) Luther's slavish lieutenant Philipp Melanchthon wrote an extensive apologia harmonizing James with Paul - lest Martin Luther also toss James out.

Read the seven letters of Ignatius of Antioch as a clear example. There was no definitive cannon of New Testament Scripture until 382 AD, established by the Council of Rome under Pope Damasus and the Bishops of the Church. The NT church was not a roman catholic church.

@@ryanvannice7878 Dude, I have longer whole videos on Protestant history, on Luther , Calvin, Henry VIII . I am planning a few more, feel free to watch them. You can't cover every aspect of everything in one 23 minute video. But appreciate the comment, as every comment helps grow the channel.
Protestant here:
0:57 It's the "height of audacity and hubris" when Protestants do it, but not when the Roman bishop does it? At least when a Protestant pastor shares his interpretation of scripture, he doesn't anathematize his congregation if they don't agree with everything he says. Just a friendly reminder that when Rome anathematizes someone, the statement in part reads "...we judge him condemned to eternal fire with Satan and his angels..."
6:25 There is not one single Protestant group who says "we are the church" (exclusively), that's you guys Hugh!
Quoting you: "The church fathers all have different opinions on basically every single topic imaginable."
Reply - Let's look at the Early Church and Church Fathers views on the Eucharist.
1) *Didache - 50-70 AD*
*And let none eat or drink of your Eucharist but such as have been baptized into the name of the Lord,* for of a truth the Lord hath said concerning this, *Give not that which is holy unto dogs.* ( 9:1-5)
2) *St. Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110 A.D.)*
*_I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life._** I desire the Bread of God, WHICH IS THE FLESH OF JESUS CHRIST,* who was of the seed of David; and *for drink I DESIRE HIS BLOOD,* which is love incorruptible. (Letter to the Romans 7:3)
Take care, then, to *use one Eucharist, so that whatever you do, you do according to God: FOR THERE IS ONE FLESH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and one cup IN THE UNION OF HIS BLOOD; one ALTAR,* as there is one bishop with the presbytery… (Letter to the Philadelphians 4:1)
*They [i.e. the Gnostics] abstain from the Eucharist* and from prayer, *because they do not confess that THE EUCHARIST IS THE FLESH OF OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST,* flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. (Letter to Smyrnians 7:1)
3) *St. Justin the Martyr (c. 100 - 165 A.D.)*
We call this food Eucharist; and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [Baptism], and is thereby living as Christ has enjoined.
*For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these;* but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, *_the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer_** set down by Him, AND BY THE CHANGE OF WHICH our blood and flesh is nourished, IS BOTH THE FLESH AND THE BLOOD OF THAT INCARNATED JESUS.* (First Apology, 66)
Moreover, as I said before, concerning the sacrifices which you at that time offered, God speaks through Malachi [1:10-12]…It is of the *SACRIFICES OFFERED TO HIM IN EVERY PLACE BY US, the Gentiles,* that is, *OF THE BREAD OF THE EUCHARIST AND LIKEWISE OF THE CUP OF THE EUCHARIST,* that He speaks at that time; and He says that we glorify His name, while you profane it. (Dialogue with Trypho, 41)
4) St. Irenaeus of Lyons (c. 140 - 202 A.D.)
*…He took from among creation that which is bread, and gave thanks, saying, "THIS IS MY BODY."* The cup likewise, which is from among the creation to which we belong, *HE CONFESSED TO BE HIS BLOOD.*
He taught *THE NEW SACRIFICE OF THE NEW COVENANT,* of which Malachi, one of the twelve prophets, had signified beforehand: [quotes Mal 1:10-11]. By these words He makes it plain that the former people will cease to make offerings to God; *BUT THAT IN EVERY PLACE SACRIFICE WILL BE OFFERED TO HIM,* and indeed, a pure one; for His name is glorified among the Gentiles. (Against Heresies 4:17:5)
But what consistency is there in those who hold that *the bread over which thanks have been given IS THE BODY OF THEIR LORD, and the cup HIS BLOOD,* if they do not acknowledge that He is the Son of the Creator… How can they say that the flesh which has been nourished *BY THE BODY OF THE LORD AND BY HIS BLOOD* gives way to corruption and does not partake of life? *…For as the bread from the earth, receiving the invocation of God, IS NO LONGER COMMON BREAD BUT THE EUCHARIST, consisting of two elements, earthly and heavenly…* (Against Heresies 4:18:4-5)
If the BODY be not saved, then, in fact, neither did the Lord redeem us with His BLOOD; and neither is the cup of the EUCHARIST THE PARTAKING OF HIS BLOOD nor is the bread which we break THE PARTAKING OF HIS BODY… *He has declared the cup, a part of creation, TO BE HIS OWN BLOOD, from which He causes our blood to flow; and the bread, a part of creation, HE HAS ESTABLISHED AS HIS OWN BODY,* from which He gives increase to our bodies.

@@catholicskeptic Your initial comments were so erratic and so misplaced from the truth of church history that I figured you needed to go back to the start and re-learn most of it all over again. These present day faith-systems are just corruptions of the original true church as was started at pentecost.

If you were a Pastor, when you left your Church, no one knew it. They were all completely asleep. I can't believe I made it to the 23:31 mark. If any religious organization can be defined by the word "nonsense", it is the "Roman" Catholic business based in Italy. When Jesus told Peter and the Apostles "upon this rock . . . @@duffman9908 "The Lutheran church IS the Catholic church", says who? Martin Luther, the MAN it is named for? A man who lived in the 16th century; who saw some genuine corruption in the Church; and over time saw many doctrines as wrong, in his opinion. A man who decided the whole Church was wrong, and started his own? Hmmm 🤔.
You obviously don’t read history!
With your background in Scripture, you really think the Catholic church is a Bible believing Christian church?
It was the CC that codified your bible in 382, Protestant hypocrisy!
Thanks for the comment.
The whole idea of there even being a "pope" is unbiblical. Jesus is my only pope. I answer to no man.
