Some people treat me like I'm crazy for my passion for learning music as a language, making as much contact with the vibrations as possible... but I look at my predecessors such as Pierre and Gabor Szábo shoot their acoustics up and down their spine, their muscles respond, and I feel like I've finally met my breed of people. So much to learn. So many days of joy are ahead of us all if we learn just what we want to feel... the interpretations are endless, as long as we are endless. ❤
Pierre be Susan is one in a million acoustic guitarist. I listen to his music to help me with my depression and loneliness. Hes music and his kind words save my life from me wanting to commit suicide. Don't get jealous of what he can do to get where he's been and at. Sit down and practice the guitar for 5 or 10 hours a day and just play!!!! Don't stare at you're instrument play the damn thing. Plus RUclips videos tutorials is out there learn and take you're time. Find what works for you. There's enough Tommy Emmanuel wannabes outhere and Andy McKee. Find you're voice find you.
When I met Michael Hedges in Davis at a small nightclub bar venue, mid-late '80s, maybe 100 of us in there to enjoy his concert that evening, I asked him what music HE listens to. The first name he mentioned is the artist playing here before you.
This tune is quite literally the reason I play in DADGAD guitar- and one of the great honors of my life has been sharing space in a songbook with Pierre back in 2000 ("Pierre Bensusan Presents: DADGAD Guitar"- now OOP.) Thank you, Pierre- for pointing me in the right direction and for sharing your guitar voice with the world!
Long-time fan. Came here to listen again to this, one of my favourites, after seeing your 2023May workshop. You're a prodigy,, Pierre, and we are blessed to have you. Love the progression at 3:59 and 4:55
Holy fucking shit. Some people got it: Pierre got it. Thank you so much for this, and whoever did the recording and video, fantastic, integral part. Damn.
I took a course with Tony McManus a few years back, and I mentionned I loved his playing and Pierre Bensusan's. He said : "Ah Pierre, the DADGAD Master !"
Absolutely wonderful !! Pierre, again you immerse me in a beautiful melody. Your playing is so breathtaking it never fails to enthrall me! Thank you Pierre. 🎸🎼🎵🎶🎶🎶👍
I just discovered this player. If I had only looked harder earlier maybe I'd have found him sooner but at least I have now. I guess after over 30 years of listening to Michael Hedges I get were the tune Bensusan comes from.
I just started learning this through your channel, it’s one thing to learn the basics, but what you do here is like 5 levels above, it’s amazing! I know this piece will grow with me :)
@@bensusanhq thank you Pierre , much appreciate your answer. Btw I just posted a Michael hedges tribute here on RUclips. If you like , check it out. God bless
A sublime statement from an artist who is continually re-shaping his canvas, if I can abuse a metaphor . And George Lowden must be putting out one serious happy dance. Love the Dragon Drool near the soundhole. Reminds me a bit of Bert Jansch. Not the Drool, the style.:)
Notes deep into souls.深入灵魂的音乐!“The idea is that you borrowed somthing wherever, let's call it 'universe' you do something with it, you cook something, you make a recipe, and then you give it back to the world”音乐就像你从宇宙中的某个角落借来了一些东西,通过你调制成一项食谱,然后把它归还给世界。它从来不是你私人的东西。
wonderful technical skills.....but no discipline.....compositions are just a stream of consciousness semi-melancholy whining with some inspired winning riffs thrown in here and there. Far far above anything i could ever do but with so much skill you'd think he could pump out more than blunderbuss collections of notes...................where is the memorable melody? the heroic passionate lyric? we just get bushels and bushels of harmonious amorphous pleasant tones starting in a random place, hopping along, and ending up somewhere over there, like a herd of genius rabbits
You probably wouldn't whistle this in the bath. But that's a good thing. By the way, if you let yourself hear it, this piece is full of passionate lyricism and there is a clear, recognisable melody.
Goodness me. But what an awful boring world it would be if we all liked the same things. Enjoy whatever guitar music it is that you prefer to Pierre Bensusan, and have a great day.
I'm glad he still plays some of the old tunes for old timers like me !
There will always be there, a way or another. Thank you for listening!

Absolutely amazing. I came here through Michael Hedges. I see why he named a song after him

The patina on that guitar is a stunning work of art

Merci pour ce monde magique dans lequel vous nous emportez 🙂
He is one with his instrument. He becomes the wood, the wood becomes him. An amazing performance.
Thank you and Bravo!
I literally held my breath when listening to this piece, and I didn't realize it until the video was finished
Same
@PiedPooper-gh6cn So there are people who not only can't empathize but enjoy being an asshole. Not surprising.

Brilliant! So loving and sensitive:)
Superb, reminds me of John Redbourne (Black balloon) but with a unique styling
Ha ! Merci pour cette magie :)
Wonderful tuning and voicing, tone that reminds me of the empty spaces at the west end of Crete. Thank you.

The man's a legend
Ahh i got lost in this. Feels like a rediscovery of the instrument. My faith in music is back. Sweet refreshing cloud of sound. Woo-hoo!
Very clever harp playing he pioneered the technique in the 60s and 70s with Donovan inspired by Spanish and gypsy modals.
Ciao, è un piacere ascoltarti....bravissimo.
Fantastico

Pure Awesome.....
In the presence of greatness!
"God Is Real"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "A Musician A Guitarist" "Pierre Bensusan"
Though the entire piece is great, the bass line from 1.47-1.57 is just exquisite. Also the use of nails for percussion is a great addition.
It's also my favorite part of the piece. I get goosebumps every time

Would love to see you play with Chris Thiele.

Yes, The orignal Lowden "Old Lady"

Actually, only 2 mics were used for this recording.

are you kidding me ? lol. You must be tonedeaf. Maybe you should try some pop music instead.
You probably wouldn't whistle this in the bath. But that's a good thing. By the way, if you let yourself hear it, this piece is full of passionate lyricism and there is a clear, recognisable melody.
The melody itself begins at around 1:59 following an improvised introduction.
