What will Novak be most gutted about by this loss?:
That the calendar slam is off (and was probably his last chance).
Not equalising Federer’s eight Wimbledon titles.
That Alcaraz has caught up with him quicker than he anticipated and he faces a real battle to win any more slams?
I’m sure privately he’s got these goals and records that he’s going for.

Thoroughly enjoy the rapport between you three. You did a great job with coverage through the rain, late nights, and other obstacles that make hosting harder. It must be exhausting, but you never let it show. The live RUclips segments have taken the show to the next level. Even better might be if you can incorporate match clips during future recaps. You might need another producer or crew member for that.

After this I consider Alcaraz a HEAVY favorite for the US Open, so like David I am actually looking more forward to the Australian Open.
Australia is like Djokovic’s kingdom which he has ruled from his castle the Rod Laver Arena. I would argue that the only thing harder to do in tennis than beating Novak in a AO final is to beat Rafa in a Roland Garros final. It will be so interesting to see if Alcaraz can also take him down at his favorite Slam.

Joker blew it in the 2nd set, I speculate in the back of his mind he was thinking he'd still win at one set all as Carlos will crack or he'd wear him down, as he often does to other players. Should have gone for the jugular in the 2nd as two sets to love down Carlos would probably not have had enough belief to come back!

Great job Carlos. But he only won 2 more points and if Novak had won that second set… if that backhand that hit the tap have dropped over instead of back, he would have lost. Incredibly close match… so I don’t know how you get to thinking Carlos is going to win the next 12 slams. You guys fall into the same trap again and again… recency bias. You also said he is better than all past players… so better than Federer. That is an impossible call. We just don’t know how Fed would have done against him. Remember Fed lost to Novak in a similar very close match in 2019 when he was old… basically nothing in it like this match. So by extension there should be nothing in it between Fed and Carlos. Anyway each opponent provides a different match up. I think Fed would have rushed Carlos a bit more and there would have been more errors from Carlos. Doesn’t mean Fed would win, but matchups make a difference and we just don’t know how Carlos would handle Fed. They all have opponents that cause them issues and others that give them a game they can thrive on. Conclusion.. Carlos is amazing and will do great things. He could be the equivalent of the big 3 but we still need a bit more time to see how he delivers. I am rooting for him but settle down 😊

It depends what you're looking for in tennis. If you want one person (or two or three people) winning everything in a foregone conclusion, then the men's game is for you. Evidently we're just changing from "Big 3" to a "Big 1" on the that side of the game. Competitions where 127 people are playing to be the runner-up is not fun for all tennis fans.
