This version pleased me so much I haven't felt the need to see any others - to my own impoverishment I suppose. You hit on all the reasons I like it, as well as reminding me of a few of its weaknesses. I am now very interested both in going back to watch the Muppet version (I've always loved the first Muppet Movie) and in seeing next week what you chose as number one and why. Good job, KC. Story Telling is indeed a wonderful thing. (I'm a baby boomer, graduated high school in '71)
My favorite version. Sim plays Scrooge as just not a mean man, but a bitter and resentful man who realizes his errors and now can't do anything about it and takes his resentment out on all people around him. HIs attitude is perfectly presented in his interaction with Cratchit in the Past sequence. He asks Cratchit if he expects "the whole day off tomorrow." Cratchit says yes, if it's convenient. Scrooge responds, "Every year you say the same thing, and every year it's just an inconvenient as the last." It is shot like a horror film and that feels right. So many good character actors, including Hermione Baddely and Patric Macnee. A Guinea, is I think, the equivalent of 1 pound, 1 shilling in the money of the time...quite a lot of cash!
@@joseluisherreralepron9987 Thank you for your post, and yes, the indifference is key to Sim’s portrayal working so well. Someone who just needs to open his eyes to the suffering around him, and the good he could potentially do with his wealth.

Thank you. I think it’s an awesome thing that there are so many versions that resonate with so many fans of the story.
