The road traffic (circulation) in the region is extremely busy - terrible. But there are many free-of-charge Museums, and the green parklands on the river shore are beautiful. Very highly educated population. Recently the metro subway system has problems, is unreliable. I am retired (pensioner) and I now live 60 km away in a smaller town. I am a member of Facebook and Quora..
You have confused the Hirshhorn for the Sackler family. Joseph Hirshhorn was a prolific art collector who donated most of his art collection to create the Hirshhorn. He actually studied art and had nothing to do with opioids. Arthur Sackler made his fortune marketing pharmaceuticals. He donated some art to what became the Sackler/Freer Gallery. Also, it is called the Eisenhower Executive Office Building now. It has been since some time in the 90s.
I always wondered why D.C was the capital and I always thought this city was nothing compared to cities like NYC and Chicago which had skyscrapers and looked more glamorous. I was totally wrong. Seeing D.C with my own eyes made me realize it is the most elegant city in the US. It doesn't have big sky scrapers but the buildings are almost regal in appearance like it was made for someone in the Monarchy. Truly fit to be called the capital.
It's a small compact city with height limits, leading to it having a very unique and organized look. I wish more growing US cities would adopt a similar approach
This is my favorite city in US since I watched the "house of cards". I've visited DC for only once during its most beautiful season, and uncontrollably fall in love with the city! I bought tiny "white house" as a lovely souvenir and keep it to myself. I do think God is helping me for all the time. Thank you! 🙏

That was Washington DC 20 ayears ago and before. Today crime is much lower. The reason for no high rises is because it was designed that way by the original planners. No building can be taller than the Washington Monument. All of the skyscrapers are outside the city. Just like there are no skyscrapers in Central Paris. They are on the outskirts at La Defense.

It's the European style heigh restrictions and consistent height limits. It makes it look really pleasing to the eye.

Bad things about Washington DC are the high crime rate and no high rise buildings.
That was Washington DC 20 ayears ago and before. Today crime is much lower. The reason for no high rises is because it was designed that way by the original planners. No building can be taller than the Washington Monument. All of the skyscrapers are outside the city. Just like there are no skyscrapers in Central Paris. They are on the outskirts at La Defense.
@@sevenstargoal The crime and homicide rate is still high nothing like The 80s or 90s butt at the end of 2021 there were over 200 almost 300 homicides and this year in 2022 the crime and the homicide rate is even higher in DC 🙄
