I’ve grown up and grew older along with the guys in Genesis. They’ve been my goto band for decades. Saw them live in Leeds from 200 yards at the back and still loved it. You’ve done your fans proud and touched millions of us with your music. Thank you isn’t nearly enough, but it comes from my heart.
Very, very sad moment. Genesis undoubtedly gave me the finest music of my life. I saw them 9 times, from 04-09-1978 (1st time in Maastrich, NL) till 21-03-2022 (last time in Amsterdam). This last show wasn't the best one (for sure) but it surely brought tears to my eyes knowing this was the very last time. I'm very grateful for the many, many hours of joy their music gave me (and hopefully will give in the future) . Thanks Tony, Phil, Peter, Steve and Mike!!
They, (in the 70's), took music to a height unequaled. You know that nobody will come within a light-year of touching them. As George Harrison said:. "All Things Must Pass".
So sad to see a true legend calling it quits. It's a shame all of the health challenges this man had to go thru. Total quality without any of the hype.

I grew up listening to Phil Collins and Genesis, and I wish so much that I would have been able to see him/them in concert. Alas, I didn't, and it looks like I will never get the chance to. 😭 I don't mind if he sits in a chair or if he wanted to lay on an air mattress, lol, I would just be happy to hear him sing in whatever setting made him feel comfortable! Phil Collins - thanks for being the background music on summer days at the lake for my family and I. I don't see most of them anymore, but at least I have the memories. You remind me of a time in my life when things were simple and innocent; when family didn't hurt each other and could be relied upon. I hear your music and wish that I could go back just for a day and relive those times. Although you might not travel the world anymore to perform, "you'll be in my heart." ♥️
Same here. I wish I had seen them in the 1970s, my favourite time when they were more of an art rock band - but I was too young. However, I did see them at Wembley Stadium on 1st July 1987, right at their commercial peak. I also saw Peter Gabriel Play in London Earl's Court on 28th June 1987, 3 days before Genesis. It was the peak of Gabriel's career also. So that was a special week for me and, looking back, I'm very glad that I went. I would have loved to have seen the Genesis reunion concert on 2nd October 1982 with Peter Gabriel, in the rain, at Milton Keynes. I have met a lot of people who went to that.
Whilst I never got to see the band live, I will always be grateful to them for their awesome music and for being the soundtrack to my life. They will always be my favourite. Thank you Phil, Mike, Steve, Peter, Tony and Ray. Thank you Genesis.
What a hero! That lad entertained the world. Sang his heart out way before there was anything like an auto-cue mic. No ear pieces, just the noise from the PA's and the band. He still claimed every word, in every line, of every song. Put your feet up Phil, rest easy, and thanks for all of the very special memories x

Hard to believe that 55 years have passed since Genesis formed, yet even harder to believe that supergroups of their stature will ever come to an end. Their classic songs of the 70s and 80s never dim over time and are forever in my mind and heart.
So true, their songs will be played for years to come. Their creativity and longevity, their transition from prog rock to mainstream but yet retained their identity. Truly historic band. Something the snowflakes of today just won’t, don’t and will never understand.

It's very sad. I've been listening to their music and Phil's solo music for years and years now. He's just been an energetic, upbeat and fun performer. That's how I picture him in my head even after seeing him like this for a while now. Over the years I'll just decide out of the blue, okay I'll play Genesis and I'll listen to Invisible Touch like I've haven't heard it before. Their/his stuff is just either very cheerful or will put you in a deep mood like Mama or I Don't Care Anymore, The Air Tonight, or Tonight Tonight Tonight. Take Me Home, it's all great. Genesis is a big part of my life where music is the foundation. My first encounter with Genesis was in my early teens when I heard Selling England by the pound. What made the biggest impression on me (who plays keyboard) was strangely enough the drumming. It was so much more than the traditional way of just keeping pace. I really wished if I could see him sing live but unfortunately I couldn't. But I am so happy to live in his prime.
@@S-the-simple-engineer Seeing them during this Tour makes me a fortunate Fan. I can close out my 45 years of being a Fan, SO FAR, with a goodbye tour. (I also was very lucky to seem them twice, from row 14 and 10 dead center in front of the stage.) Enough about me.
For you, lucklly there is RUclips. If you plan, you can litterally watch-listen to their concerts-Tours from the Beginning.
So enoy modern tech and the internet...IT IS ALL THERE TO WATCH!!
Ja das 'n cirkel had je je sokken nog aan, nou dat laatste Genesis concert gemist, ach ik heb fan tasie
Genesis always took us to another place with their music. (Blue turns to green, rivers flow up hill). The group's melodic notes will hang in the air for all time. We'll meet again. Beyond the silver rainbow. God bless.
*God bless you Phil and band and thank you so much for the songs - the music and the memories. I can still feel it in the air each and every single night since 1982.I got so much joy watching you play your drums while singing. You sir are simply the best in my eye's*
Indeed Phil Collins is a great singer.
How was your day going?
I hardly have cried during the pandemic. My emotions have really changed. It’s been hard for me to cry but I think when it’s time for Phil to leave us it will be the first time I will cry. Phil has brought me such joy with his music. It’s gotten me through some hard times. We still need Phil in our lives.
Thanks Phil, Mike and Tony. You have been a part of my life for 50 years.
The band's humour, especially Phil's come across so well even in this sad moment for the band and the fans. Thank you for the music, Phil, Tony and Mike!
, Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel, Chester Thompson, Darrel Strumer don't forget about them
The man looks physically ill. God bless.
Love Phil Collins, he's the best drummer and I love his singing.
Yes, his drumming was masterful and added so much to many Genesis songs.
He always sounded like he was straining to take a shit when he sang.
Thank you Phil, for all the wonderful MUSIC, and I mean the NOTES and artistry. Have always enjoyed listening to you
What a musical icon .Genesis influenced more musicians than they will ever realize . How blessed we were to have them to grow up and grow older with . God bless us all Amen
So true 🙏🌻
Who did they influence?
I’ve grown up and grew older along with the guys in Genesis. They’ve been my goto band for decades. Saw them live in Leeds from 200 yards at the back and still loved it.
You’ve done your fans proud and touched millions of us with your music. Thank you isn’t nearly enough, but it comes from my heart.
Saw him last in San Jose, and JUST missed him in Austria before the fiasco of Covid... a lifetime of musical delight :)
So sad. It was great 52 years with Genesis...
And of course Peter Gabriel should be mentioned and lucky you getting to see them that many times thankyou
I to have seen them alot of times I said goodbye to them also last week in Amsterdam I went the 2 nights god bless em 🙏 ♥
@@johnriozzi3260 that’s Awesome 👏💐🙏👍
So sad to see a true legend calling it quits. It's a shame all of the health challenges this man had to go thru. Total quality without any of the hype.
Vrai!

Thank you ..
he's been retiring and packing it in for 20 years
I am so sad. Been a fan for 35 years.
Time to go from live shows BUT please don't stop writing and creating behind the scenes 🙏🥰
Thank you Phil/genesis
You don't have to say thank you, thank you for caring 😁
👍❤️❤️👏👏
I've wanted to see Phil and Genesis for decades and never thought I'd be able to. Got to see them in Toronto in 2021... Just in time! Thank you for all the years of wonderful music!!
Thank you Genesis for decades of amazing shows and music. True legends.
May the Lord touch and heal you Phil from the top.of your head to soles of your feet!God bless you! Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents with all of us! Excellent job..well done!!
🇧🇷👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
That was sweet. It reminds me of my childhood too. I stayed up very late last night listening to Collins/Genesis.
Whilst I never got to see the band live, I will always be grateful to them for their awesome music and for being the soundtrack to my life.
They will always be my favourite.
Thank you Phil, Mike, Steve, Peter, Tony and Ray.
Thank you Genesis.
That's why I took in 2 final Genesis shows. Didn't want to think, if only ;-)

I love Genesis , the music they have given us over the decades will live on forever xx
Genesis with Peter Gabriel and the next three albums without Gabriel were the greatest band of all time. Unless there was one like 10,000 years ago.
It will love is voice
@Phil Collins sorry Phil , I only just saw your message , I am fine , hope your are too xx always loved all your work Phil
Love this guy, especially for never screwing the rest of Genesis.
@Chris Wings It He divorced one of them via fax machine lol
@Chris Wings It We've all been there.
@Chris Wings It So. F*cking. What.
What the hell does that have anything to do with him being a world class musician, singer, composer?
Thank God he didn't invite Robbie Robertson to join them 🤣
@@squinteastwood4637 - That story is so far from the real version of the truth. British Tabloids spun it that way and people still tell that story. They were already on the rocks and their marriage was already over. He couldn't get ahold of her by phone. (Remember, this was the 80's, no one walked around with a phone in their pocket) So he faxed her. Perhaps a little tacky, but he didn't "Dump her by fax" like everyone says.
Saw them in the summer of 1992 in Lisbon, Portugal. My 2nd live concert ever. And I went alone. I just loved it. So thank you Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips, Mike Rutherford, Chris Stewart, John Silver, John Mayhew, Mick Barnard, Steve Hackett and Ray Wilson. Thank you Genesis. For all the music and the memories. Your legacy will endure and will influence many artists in years to come. It was a pleasure. THANK YOU!

I first saw Genesis in concert in Vancouver,Canada i believe 1977 just after Peter Gabriel left and what a show!,wish i kept the 15 dollar ticket stub 👍👍❤️
Just one? To see the idol of my youth like this hurts very much. Often remember the concert in Leipzig in 2007.
He basically works since 1970 and he deserves to retire.

God Bless You Phil. You have some of the most beautiful music, I have listened to you every since I can remember. You r a beautiful talent. Thank you for your words in a song. I love you Phil Collins, your music will live on forever...
Hard to believe that 55 years have passed since Genesis formed, yet even harder to believe that supergroups of their stature will ever come to an end. Their classic songs of the 70s and 80s never dim over time and are forever in my mind and heart.
Hard for you to believe people get old and sick and retire, is it?
So true, their songs will be played for years to come. Their creativity and longevity, their transition from prog rock to mainstream but yet retained their identity. Truly historic band. Something the snowflakes of today just won’t, don’t and will never understand.

Thanks Genesis for you music, soundtrack of my life for the last 50 years. Thanks Phil, Mike, Tony, and , of course, thanks to Peter, Steve and Anthony too !
This is sooo heartbreaking. I grew up with this man's music. I was there when MTV first premiered and Phil Collins blasted onto the scene with so much energy in every video. He was dancing and singing all over the place and now I cry because he's reduced to this. God bless you Phil Collins and thank you for making my 1970s and 1980s so much fun. Thank you for the best song ever written and recorded, In The Air.
Stationed in Heidelberg, Germany 1981, in my car listening to his just released album Face Value (In The Air Tonight). Great times and great entertainment. Thank you Mr Collins and Genesis.
Thank you all, and Peter and Steve (and others) too, for 50 years of great music. Phil, your legacy was sitting behind you at the drums. I think this is a great achievement, among the others of an astonishing carreer. Take care and lots of love to all of you.
I will love him forever. That cool connection to Miami Vice is great as well. It's an end to an era and this is huge man. But he will always be Phil Collins as he was when I listen. What a legacy they have, him and Genesis.
Why sad?
Look at him!
He cant sitting already too!

I’m glad I got to see Phil and the boys one last time on the Domino tour. He was here in NY and they sounded awesome. Even though Phil is physically struggling and I’m sure in tremendous pain. He put on a great show. It’s always sad to see a band you grew up with come to an end. It makes us truly realize our own mortality. But Phil deserves to rest now and hopefully he can get some medical care that will give him a better quality of life. Thanks for the memories.
Absolutely amazing, creative, innovative, and beautiful songs for decades. Genesis was, is, and will always be for future generations. Bravo Phil and the boys!
I have been a Phil Collins fan “all of my life” and will be for the rest of it! As a drummer from grade school until early adulthood, I was amazed at his talents and creativity. Enjoy the rest of your life Phil. Well done!!!
Genesis is a big part of my life where music is the foundation. My first encounter with Genesis was in my early teens when I heard Selling England by the pound. What made the biggest impression on me (who plays keyboard) was strangely enough the drumming. It was so much more than the traditional way of just keeping pace. Phil is a musician who PLAYED on the drums. I love, as much now as then, listening to Genesis music. Thank you all in the band for what you mean to me and many others! Per L.
