I will always be a Genesis and Phil Collins fan. Listened to their music during the best and worse times of my life . A great band with great musicians and beautiful music.
Indeed. It’s sad to see such musical icons pass their prime but it was always inevitable. Our lives were all enriched through their creativity and talent. Few musicians can claim to be victims of their own success. Phil Collins was one such person as his music was found playing in shopping malls, grocery stores and even elevators, such was it’s popularity. This became a “can’t see the forest for the trees” event which diminished our appreciation for how incredible his songs were both musically and lyrically. They were always amazing, our propensity to get bored with them only serves to demonstrate how fickle human fascination can be.

I grew up with Genesis by seeing them on DVD. But seeing them live for the first and last time is one of the best moments in my life. I'm sure about that.

This guy has given his life to his art. Through so much pain, both physical and emotional. Phil has brought so much joy to millions thru his music. Well done, good sir.
Hard to believe that 55 years have passed since Genesis formed, yet even harder to believe that supergroups of their stature will ever come to an end. Their classic songs of the 70s and 80s never dim over time and are forever in my mind and heart.
So true, their songs will be played for years to come. Their creativity and longevity, their transition from prog rock to mainstream but yet retained their identity. Truly historic band. Something the snowflakes of today just won’t, don’t and will never understand.
Very, very sad moment. Genesis undoubtedly gave me the finest music of my life. I saw them 9 times, from 04-09-1978 (1st time in Maastrich, NL) till 21-03-2022 (last time in Amsterdam). This last show wasn't the best one (for sure) but it surely brought tears to my eyes knowing this was the very last time. I'm very grateful for the many, many hours of joy their music gave me (and hopefully will give in the future) . Thanks Tony, Phil, Peter, Steve and Mike!!
They, (in the 70's), took music to a height unequaled. You know that nobody will come within a light-year of touching them. As George Harrison said:. "All Things Must Pass".
I hardly have cried during the pandemic. My emotions have really changed. It’s been hard for me to cry but I think when it’s time for Phil to leave us it will be the first time I will cry. Phil has brought me such joy with his music. It’s gotten me through some hard times. We still need Phil in our lives.
Everybody gets old! But the music linger on and on as long as someone, somebody listens to it! It's an honor to have A PHIL COLLINS in this world. Thank very sir for sharing to us your music!
In this case it's not even getting old that's stopping them, it's health. They've had a fantastic run though and everything ends at some point. What a legacy they leave behind.

What a hero! That lad entertained the world. Sang his heart out way before there was anything like an auto-cue mic. No ear pieces, just the noise from the PA's and the band. He still claimed every word, in every line, of every song. Put your feet up Phil, rest easy, and thanks for all of the very special memories x
I grew up listening to Phil Collins and Genesis, and I wish so much that I would have been able to see him/them in concert. Alas, I didn't, and it looks like I will never get the chance to. 😭 I don't mind if he sits in a chair or if he wanted to lay on an air mattress, lol, I would just be happy to hear him sing in whatever setting made him feel comfortable! Phil Collins - thanks for being the background music on summer days at the lake for my family and I. I don't see most of them anymore, but at least I have the memories. You remind me of a time in my life when things were simple and innocent; when family didn't hurt each other and could be relied upon. I hear your music and wish that I could go back just for a day and relive those times. Although you might not travel the world anymore to perform, "you'll be in my heart." ♥️
Same here. I wish I had seen them in the 1970s, my favourite time when they were more of an art rock band - but I was too young. However, I did see them at Wembley Stadium on 1st July 1987, right at their commercial peak. I also saw Peter Gabriel Play in London Earl's Court on 28th June 1987, 3 days before Genesis. It was the peak of Gabriel's career also. So that was a special week for me and, looking back, I'm very glad that I went. I would have loved to have seen the Genesis reunion concert on 2nd October 1982 with Peter Gabriel, in the rain, at Milton Keynes. I have met a lot of people who went to that.
What a historic musical career. I can say that I am blessed and happy to grow listening and living your music. So many great songs. So many great memories on each one of them. Thank you Genesis ! Thank you Phil Collins!!!

After being a fan for many years, it's hard to imagine jovial Phil in such poor health. His drumming influenced me immensely, as well as his approach to song writing. Genesis music has entertained me since my early teens, and will continue to do so until the day I die. Hopefully my children will one day grow to appreciate the same music I did.
Genesis always took us to another place with their music. (Blue turns to green, rivers flow up hill). The group's melodic notes will hang in the air for all time. We'll meet again. Beyond the silver rainbow. God bless.
I guess I'm just beyond words. Phil is one of the greatest musicians who has ever walked the earth. His music has meant much to me over the years. I do hope that he's accepted Jesus because to live such a blessed and wonderful life only to have it end in his waking up in a place he doesn't want to be would be tragic. I love you Phil, and thanks so much for being a part of my life.
I’ve grown up and grew older along with the guys in Genesis. They’ve been my goto band for decades. Saw them live in Leeds from 200 yards at the back and still loved it. It's very sad. I've been listening to their music and Phil's solo music for years and years now. He's just been an energetic, upbeat and fun performer. That's how I picture him in my head even after seeing him like this for a while now. Over the years I'll just decide out of the blue, okay I'll play Genesis and I'll listen to Invisible Touch like I've haven't heard it before. Their/his stuff is just either very cheerful or will put you in a deep mood like Mama or I Don't Care Anymore, The Air Tonight, or Tonight Tonight Tonight. Take Me Home, it's all great. I will love him forever. That cool connection to Miami Vice is great as well. It's an end to an era and this is huge man. But he will always be Phil Collins as he was when I listen. What a legacy they have, him and Genesis.

To the ones who call it an end of an era. Legends like these, never end. Think like it as a new chapter instead of an end. As they say; "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Who knows what the future holds. They never fail to surprise us, and the inspiration and legacy they have is truly incomparable. To those lucky ones, who got to see them perform live, always cherish it and realize how lucky or privileged you were, because many would do anything to experience it. To those who haven't or never, don't feel ashamed, their music will always be apart of you, no matter what, live show or not, we all have our own ways of cherishing these legends, even if we don't got much. But honestly, A true inspiration these three were for continuing, and a massive thanks to the originals, for founding this legend of a band and taking part despite not being apart of it until the very end. Only sad thing, I feel about this, is how unfortunately bands like these wont ever exist anymore espically with how the industry has been, and the world has changed too, but atleast, we have some bands trying to get close too it. Wishing all the best for Phil, Banks and Rutherford, and I hope the future brings many great surprises. Real shame they didn't tour at more places, but they did what they could with the conditions they had. A sincere thank you for everything Genesis, and espically to Phil, and onto this new chapter we head too! Decades of inspiring, laughs, and passion, legends forever. A Legacy that will always be kept alive. 👑👑👑

Heartbreaking! But still a sense of humor about it! Phil Collins - Genesis - what a great run you had! Thank you!
That's what I love about the English, no matter what happens, they always find a way to squeeze in a funny.
He was serious about the blowjobs. That wasn't a joke.
Thank you Phil/genesis
You don't have to say thank you, thank you for caring 😁

It brings tears to my eyes when I see him sitting like this. But my heart laughs because he has enriched my life with his songs!!Thank you Phil!!!
He's legendary.
Me too Klaus!
Also Mike Rutherford,Toni Banks and Peter Gabriel!!
The first Genesis concert of my father was in 1981, he was 18 years old. My first Genesis concert was last monday, I'm 19 years old. I was there with my father. I grew up with Genesis by seeing them on DVD. But seeing them live for the first and last time is one of the best moments in my life. I'm sure about that.
Go through You Tube and look at their live stuff over the years. Hell of a progression and change. You saw the best light/video show of their's ever.
That you have the DVD from the Invisible Touch tour in 1987 at Wembley?
I really wished if I could see him sing live but unfortunately I couldn't. But I am so happy to live in his prime.
@@shinekraj4944 Seeing them during this Tour makes me a fortunate Fan. I can close out my 45 years of being a Fan, SO FAR, with a goodbye tour. (I also was very lucky to seem them twice, from row 14 and 10 dead center in front of the stage.) Enough about me.
For you, lucklly there is RUclips. If you plan, you can litterally watch-listen to their concerts-Tours from the Beginning.
So enoy modern tech and the internet...IT IS ALL THERE TO WATCH!!

Hard for you to believe people get old and sick and retire, is it?
So true, their songs will be played for years to come. Their creativity and longevity, their transition from prog rock to mainstream but yet retained their identity. Truly historic band. Something the snowflakes of today just won’t, don’t and will never understand.

My heart just broke. I hope he and the band enjoy their days. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
you should see his audience :P
So sad. It was great 52 years with Genesis...
And of course Peter Gabriel should be mentioned and lucky you getting to see them that many times thankyou
I to have seen them alot of times I said goodbye to them also last week in Amsterdam I went the 2 nights god bless em 🙏 ♥

He actually looks sick to me. My opinion only.
He really is one of the most talented individuals on the planet. A master drummer, lyricist, song writer, and performer. He's the whole package.
In this case it's not even getting old that's stopping them, it's health. They've had a fantastic run though and everything ends at some point. What a legacy they leave behind.
He wrote a lot of crap music. What are you talking about?

Just one? To see the idol of my youth like this hurts very much. Often remember the concert in Leipzig in 2007.

Thanks Phil, Mike and Tony. You have been a part of my life for 50 years.
Thank you Phil for so many great songs, generations will be listening to you forever.❤️

Love Phil Collins, he's the best drummer and I love his singing.
Yes, his drumming was masterful and added so much to many Genesis songs.
He always sounded like he was straining to take a shit when he sang.
🇧🇷👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
That was sweet. It reminds me of my childhood too. I stayed up very late last night listening to Collins/Genesis.
What a historic musical career. I can say that I am blessed and happy to grow listening and living your music. So many great songs. So many great memories on each one of them. Thank you Genesis ! Thank you Phil Collins!!!
The band's humour, especially Phil's come across so well even in this sad moment for the band and the fans. Thank you for the music, Phil, Tony and Mike!

Indeed Phil Collins is a great singer.
How was your day going?
Who did they influence?
After being a fan for many years, it's hard to imagine jovial Phil in such poor health. His drumming influenced me immensely, as well as his approach to song writing. Genesis music has entertained me since my early teens, and will continue to do so until the day I die. Hopefully my children will one day grow to appreciate the same music I did.
Terribly sad to see Phil in such poor health. And terribly sad that Genesis has come to an end.

What a journey...
Thanks for all, Phil. A true living legend!
I’ve grown up and grew older along with the guys in Genesis. They’ve been my goto band for decades. Saw them live in Leeds from 200 yards at the back and still loved it.
You’ve done your fans proud and touched millions of us with your music. Thank you isn’t nearly enough, but it comes from my heart.
Saw him last in San Jose, and JUST missed him in Austria before the fiasco of Covid... a lifetime of musical delight :)

All are Amazing musicians & Performers. I am surprised there aren't any comments about his son, Nic, playing drums on the tour. He's very mature for his young age, is so talented and shows so much love & support for his Dad. God Bless them all ✌🙏❤
To the ones who call it an end of an era. Legends like these, never end. Think like it as a new chapter instead of an end. As they say; "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
Who knows what the future holds.

@@apollomemories7399 If someone clearly likes them then telling them you think they're awful is just rude. Why would you think a fan would want to read that?
@@ZiddersRooFurry They didn't actually say they "clearly" likes them. They simply went to their gig and certainly gave the impression that they regretted doing so and wished they'd went to see Genesis instead. That was what the "I'll never forgive myself" bit was about and it seems you completely missed that and completely failed to understand its significance. Is English your first language?
Why would you think a fan would want to read what you wrote when you can't even understand the principle point first made?
