While walking today I saw a memorial bench for Kat Davis by The Thames in Richmond, it led me to her blog at followingthearrows, and it was heartbreaking to discover that this beautiful woman died so young in Feb 2020, especially after watching this video and reading her daily account of this trek with her beloved dad, how happy she seemed. It's just tragic how depression can hit someone so suddenly, she seemed so full of life even trekking in Turkey just a few months before her death. edit: Also the effort she made to emphasise the joke about her dad walking far too fast on the trail in this video was just so sweet and funny. RIP Kat
Hi. Have been meaning to watch this for ages. What a great fun dad you have and a really good fun video of your walk. Thank you for sharing. Subscribed as I want to do all the others you’ve listed too!
This was so much fun to watch, your dad seems like a great guy! I came back three days ago, and it was super cool to see video of the oposite direction.
@@followingthearrows it was the hardest and yet most rewarding thing I have ever done. It was pretty much the same main route as the hiking version, all 110 miles. So many amazing memories.
Great video, great hike. My partner from the Robert Louis Stevenson Trail hike will send you a link to our video. We did our hike last April/May in the south of France. Yours is now on our bucket list for 2020!
Thanks Mike, we're looking for a new hike so I just watched your video and sent the link to my dad :) I'm sure you'll enjoy the TMB, it's a spectacular hike. Happy Trails!
And your hike is now on ours! We do recommend using The Enlightened Traveler to book the trip and transport your bags...although...although...you could carry it all as a few do. A lot of climbing on the RLS route, though.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Your editing techniques were stellar, and, yes, your Dad did take good direction. The skipping and finish line clips showed a sense of humor, enthusiasm and zest for life! What time of year did you start? A friend and I walked the Robert Louis Stevenson trail (GR70) in Southern France last April. He created a video available on RUclips - "Robert Louis Stevenson Trail - Mike Porter". You might enjoy it - another good walk for someone with your Dad's conditioning. Congratulations! This one is our my bucket list for 2020.
Thanks Greg, although I didn't give dad any directions, that was all him! ;) We had such a wonderful time, it was a refreshing change for me as I usually hike alone and dad being a joker really brought this experience alive! I'm sure you'll love it too. Thanks for the RLS recommendation, I just watched the video and sent the link to my dad :) Happy Trails!
Hello! Me my friend and my dog are about to go on the MBT next month, and we’re wondering if the ladder part is optional. Have seen it quite often in documentaries and since my dog is too heavy to carry we’re concerned how we gonna handle that. Besides from that your video made us even more excited! :)
Wauw amazing. Nice experience either. Very cool. This is also the exact same i want to do, just starting from Trient and to chamonix, so anti clockwise. Going on the aguille du midi also etc. Very cool. Was asking, is it possible to sleep in a own tent near the refugees and thats free then or ....? And to only use a shower and buy food and stuff.
Hi, thanks! You should definitely, do, it's one of the best hikes I've ever been on :) There are a few campgrounds but there's also quite a few areas where you're not technically allowed to camp. I never saw anyone camping near the refuges...
Thinking of doing the same hike with my sons next summer if the lockdowns finally end, which leg did you find the most scenic, and can you bivac on the trail? We'd love to be able to sleep under the stars now and then.
Really enjoyed this as I did the tour in July/August and brought back great memories. I am currently editing the hours of footage I have and hope to have it up soon. Can I ask if the music was free to download as I am new to editing techniques and will be grateful for any tips and advice.
Susie Flores Hi Susie, thanks! We planned it ourselves and had to book the refuges back in February. I wrote a blog about the planning process as well as each day of the hike, it’s at www.followingthearrows.com
Hello! Your videos are awesome, I like how you combine photos and videos and editing is great! Can I ask you, what camera do you use for photos/videos? Thank you.
Thanks for your video! Good family, gentle daddy with good dauthet....

Hi Lora, thanks so much!! For this trip, I used my iPhone 8 for the videos and Fujifilm X-T2 for the photos, then used iMovie :)
