The tree definitely represents their freindship in some way, but wether the tree itself has power to it is a debate all its own.

Should be noted that afaik the Sonic franchise has been about friendship pretty much since Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which was about 30 *years* ago, and they've stuck with that theme 'till now, with Frontiers focusing on it heavily.
I mean considering that one tree has been shown in Nines world,Thorns and their original world maybe the tree is exactly the same in every world he goes in and they're protected from harm due to sonics flashback of their friendship.
I really loved the scene in New Yoke when Sonic is faced with the palm tree again. Felt like all that realisation came crashing through. Never anticipated that someone would craft a whole analysis on it, so thanks!
I got tbh though the times they have good memories is when they first meet is also when saving the world but yeah the palm tree is special to them

I think the tree is trying to bend sonics old friendships to create new ones and the tree is the real bad guy because then he won’t want to go home he would want to stay so him not accepting the at first was all part of the trees plan as the jungle knuckles said (the trees are talking to us) that could all be related

No, you're not crazy. You're right about the strange thing that you've talked about: The pawntree. These trees have been known for years, including the pawntree in Sonic Prime. They are very important to the planet. However, the trees have so many good things that's been known for many years.
Sorry if this is long we(system) are hyperfixated on theorizing possible plots and our sibling is done with our rambling.
We need more info to flesh this theory out. Here's what we got so far. Sonic clearly has ADHD with some of the less understood drawbacks. On such drawback is being so empathetic you miss ques for differences in types of friendship. Sonic doesn't take his friends for granted but he also hasn't realized his friends needed the sentimental connection to be acknowledged. The tree may represent the necessary components of the friendship like how in the jungle ark the green was growth and tending with communication. In new yoke it was hope and sticking together through thick and thin. The over arching plot seems to involve learning how to navigate dynamics of friendship instead of the generic friendship is a force of nature that only breaks when conflict drives a wedge between them because friends always come together when things get bad
None of the friendships were pushed apart instead the lack of a necessary component allowed circumstances to divide the friends.
Nine is alone because he needed trust and hope he never received. Sonic gives hope that Amy builds on hence rusty rose being robotized.
The green is lack of communication mangy replaces tails communication skill leaving the next best communicator sonic.
Still need to work on the other characters and locations.
Also have to analyze the ADHD plot points more because sonics hyperfixation on the shards has caused him to make reasonable decisions other people have called dumb. The differences a between how sonic is focusing in a moment and what he is observing seem to be plot relevant to a larger plot if not the tree plot rather than a shard plot so this may be tricky with only 8 of 24 episodes.
maby i mean i agree he has never took his friends for granted but forgets to show them how much they meen to him but i dont think his learing diffrent skills of friendship but i dnoo i think he just now realsies people need to realise that sonic is smart so he thinks his friends allready know so whats the point in telling them.
the anwser is its good to tell them beacuse then they feel acnolliged its a family friendship thing.

The Pirates Tree is the tree on the island that Sonic first meets them...they oddly don't care about it at all...lazy scriptwritting for the pirate saga or whatever it may be I'm pretty sure that tree is it...
