I'm going back to wearing 3 piece suits - with alternative vest and suspenders - to look precisely DIFFERENT. back in the mid 1990's .. the fad went back to wearing suits with no tie , and shirt collar over the suit coat. Yeap- I did that ... and we were BOSS at the clubs
When it comes to suits,i feel that i wil never have enough:i currently owe about 14,half of them are bespoke!i used to own more,but since i tried my first bespoke suit iwemt to my closet and threw at least 6 suits!!!
i think for a person who doesn't need to wear a suit other than a handful times a year, 1 is good enough. i stay in singapore, 99% of ppl here do not wear suits. i'd say 1minimum for those ppl. if your work requires you to be dressed up, then at least 3. if you are the kinda person who goes to parties, events etc, then 5. there is no upper limit, bu better not to have too many cos they won't be utilised that way.
At least 2 One medium gray and one navy for non-suit wearing men. For men who wearing suits is part of the professional tool box. The minimum 8. Three shades of gray, three shades of blue. One brown and one black. One should be double breasted if possible. One of the blue single breasted should have the most casual and lighter shade buttons possible. If this is achieved that single breasted suit jacket can serve as a blazer. The brown should single breasted as well and can double as sport coat.

2 winter suits more heavy weighted wool / fully lined, 2 summer suits, mixed wool light weight and 2 occasion suits. Job done.

I'd say four if it's for work and you need one or two for casual and/or occasions. Black is essential.
