I’m a little older than most people in this community so when I start a farming sim tutorial or see stuff like a potluck soup at a festival, I automatically think of Harvest Moon 64 or HM: Friends of Mineral Town. While everyone is going on about this game being just like Stardew Valley, I’m like, “This is just like Harvest Moon!” 😄 I love that SDV and Coral Island have each found ways to improve upon their predecessors. I am really enjoying Coral Island and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this game and its successors!
Okay but I'm also SUPER interested in playing the old harvest moon games cause I just missed them, and I wanna see what Stardew borrowed from them too!

Thank youuu. I get annoyed sometimes seeing things Stardew iterated on or took directly from older Harvest Moon or Rune Factory games being attributed to SV. More of a pet peeve than anything. As someone who experienced SV as a love letter to Harvest Moon and revitalization of the genre, Coral Island is the first time in a while since a new farming game has hooked me as hard as Stardew did at launch.
Harvest Moon 64 was the first video game I ever played, but I was young enough that I didn't care at all about anything that you were "supposed" to do, and just kinda ran around and had fun. I was used to just watching my older brother game, and did not have the attention span for plot. I would absolutely love to get my hands on it now and actually, properly play it. 😊
I came from the fae farm 100 days and there is a STARK difference in character depth and dialogue. I completely understand everything he was saying about fae farm now💀
I love that Dippa and Raj are both canonically nonbinary (they/them pronouns in their description pages). I really do want to like Mark, but he takes longer than even Shane to become remotely non-jerky to the MC. After trying time and again to talk to him at the coffee stand, I just tend to give up and chat up the cute barista instead since, you know, they're NICE.

I'm an Indonesian and I must say your pronounciation of the Indonesian words are quite good. Also funfact when Ratih sent you a letter on day 22 ( 49:09 ) she used Lele as her signature and when you met her on day 25 ( she wore a catfish costume ( 58:36 ) because "lele" in Indonesian means catfish..
This had me laughing as usual. The stupidest jokes were of course my favorite ("biece of shit," "but scene"). Also it's so cute that you got your real-life cat in the game. :)

I’m obsessed with Coral Island atm and have been for about a year. I’d dip my toe in each time there was a big update just to get a feel and I’m loving the direction it’s going. I know there’s some criticism since 1.0 but I trust the devs and believe that they are doing all they can to deliver

I will say I think the cutscenes felt like a lot just cause I was binging it, but also I think it speaks to how character driven coral island is compared to other farm sims! (Also coral island is in 1.0 now!)

As someone who loves the old school harvest moon games, SDV, and most of the cozy farm games. This game is just stardew valley but better, and I'm not mad. I've spent 500 hours in SDV. I'm ready for new content with new and improved systems. It's a game type I LOVE, so just taking the old system and improving upon it just makes me happy. SOS is trying to reinvent the wheel every game in a way I don't really appreciate. Just take the good parts and make them better and better!
Dippa's not a lesbian, as they are not a woman. Raj is nonbinary as well and also uses they/them. Also, Antonio is Rafael and Pablo's cousin. Which makes Valentina their cousin once removed, but she calls them her uncles.
Good point! Tbh I didn't realize either were non binary when I was recording and only found out about 90% through editing, it's definitely something I'm gonna be more cognizant of in the next video!

It’s fantastic but on xbox it randomly crashes unfortunately, played a year, just sometimes it will crash when u done a full day of stuff, fingers crossed for a patch
I love this game! But….I had to put it down because it crashes constantly on my Xbox and I found out after I bought it that the game isn’t even finished :( I’ll pick it up in 2024 when they finish the game. I really, really do like the game and am looking forward to picking it back up when they fix it.
isn't this game still unfinished? i've read more than a handful of reviews on steam complaining that there's still unfinished quest lines and areas, which is pretty shitty in my opinion.
I mean almost everything I've seen has been finished? But granted I've only played spring 😂 afaik there isn't merfolk romance yet? And they have announced their plans for more content they wanna add? I'm no expert but I've been satisfied with the state of the game 🤷🏻♂️
I think the stuff that are not finished are mostly stretch goals from the kickstarter, (merfolk kingdom&romance, multiplayer, island hopping, consoles port, and baby growing up are all stretch goals, and savannah wasn't even a stretch goal but it was in the 2024 roadmap, i wonder what that is). Since the earliest roadmap in kickstarter (2021 i guess?) they always said that stretch goals will be released one by one after 1.0

I think you can harvest all crops with a scythe. Its much easier than doing it manually
