Too bad bro! I can imagine how pissed you were when you fell... Specially because you built your bike so carefully... I hope everything is ok with you and your bike. Best regards!
Hitting that smooth stone with the dual sport tires was what did it I recon. That, possibly the sand, too quick on throttle and the (what looks to be) heavy luggage messing with the weight of the bike. Lucky there's no fairing rather lots of steel bits to protect the goods.
how strange, precisely the type of pavement on which I slipped in a small town in Belgium... only it was rain, not sand. That stuff seems to have poor traction. Doesn't leave much room for mistakes.
Sorry dude that is bad luck. As soon as you set off I was bracing for impact from the way you were riding. I just dropped my bike two days ago doing something equally stupid so I am not judging. :)
well the /7's are easy to find and you can order reproductions of /6 upwards. if people really pay 200 for original ones i should sell my oem /7's i guess... :D
Thomas C Servus Thomas ich habe eine Frage bzw eine bitte an dich und deinen Bruder wie könnte ich mit euch in Kontakt treten ich würde mich gerne mit euch unterhalten bzw anders in Kontakt treten. 'Fer sure, and that's the downside of 'dual-purpose' tires, which are usually a firmer compound, with less contact surface on flat pavement, especially the hard 'slippery' kind.
Actually it was the front tire that washed out :) But as a result of a ridiculous speed considering the conditions. And yes, those crash bars came in handy after all, apart from minor scratches and a broken mirror all was fine.
It's mainly a pedestrian area and the two kinds of stones are either flat or rough. The rough ones are actually the worst, all grooves get filled with sand.
Like mentioned in the video, very hot day, spent a lot of time packing the bike while in the sun and in full gear, so I longed for the fresh breeze :) Stupid, I know, but a valuable lesson
As a fellow biker I can say you certainly learned something new that day. Very nice R80 btw.

Thanks! I was fine, the bike as well. Sold it after a year but I started a new project last month :)
0:20 too much throttle there

You’ll be extra careful at that corner, got a corner like that for myself too hahah.
Just recently crashed my bmw r100r in the first corner leading to my hometown. Probably gonna blame it on rain and potholes :D
what a nice bike! love it
Bless you brother! At least you're not hurt
One of the nicest GS's I've seen👌
Dieu merci tu n as rien, un nouveau retro et hop !
Nice bike! Where did you get the front wind gaurd?
No one builds a tank better than the Germans, you can't beat the boxer engine 😁😁😁
but then you crash and realize how expensive those valve covers are....
50 bucks, better than a whole new fairing or tank, no?
i had to pay 200 for mine and it took me 1 1/2 years to find an original BMW part

not for my model then. the reporoductions had a different painting on it. i just had to find a proper valve cover
glad you are okay! be careful next time!
Tu Anh don't worry, this was two years ago :-)

Thanks for sharing, buddy. What was the reason for the slide; Too hard of a turn, sandy surface, too much throttle? Btw very cool build! well done.
All of the above :-) and thanks!
Mate where's your windscreen from? Love it!
The tires dude, too dangerous

But they look so sexy!
@@ThomasC like scars on his butt hahaha
Also too much throttle in the corner, bro...
Good thing the crash bars are stucking out so far, so nothing else not damaged.

cold tyres?
sim725 sand mainly

Wow you were lucky about your bike !
Too much speed in that place..why?
Like mentioned in the video, very hot day, spent a lot of time packing the bike while in the sun and in full gear, so I longed for the fresh breeze :) Stupid, I know, but a valuable lesson
When you least expect it... Expect it!
Stupid mistake. Gotta love a motorcycle you can crash, pick up, and ride off again on though
Where did you get that license plate mount bracket?
Michael C diy
Any link for the mount bracket? Please
Congrats
those cylinder heads do a good job of being crash bars lmao
They sure make it easy to pick the bike up :)
Welke handschoenen zijn dat?
Revit Fly 2
The reasons of fall are in “trendy" front tire, and the day of victory over Germany, of course-ha.
Amazing bike! Shit happens... keep walking!
Shit Happens, just be careful
Too fast + cold tyres
