I had the S23U, and I currently have the Pixel 8 Pro. Both amazing phones. The S23U has better battery, and a better chipset for everyday usage. After using the Pixel for around a week now, I do prefer the "Native Android" experience over Samsung's One UI. One UI is great, and has tons of additions/custimizations, but, for average daily usage, I prefer the Pixel OS. You still get amazing camera's, good camera control, and all the new AI bonuses. For gamers and DEX user's, etc, I think Samsung still takes the crown. But for me, I am thoroughly enjoying the 8 Pro.

The generative AI and machine learning coupled with the camera experience and call screening, language interpreter and live text transcription are mind blowing. Oh, not to mention ....7 YEARS OF SUPPORT AND SECURITY UPDATES! And its $300 to $400 less in price. And that's before the NEW Bard AI experience. Buckle up for the BEST pure android experience. I left One UI last year for Pixel and was AMAZED and completely satisfied. Thanks CJ, loved your review!

It's $200 less than the s23 ultra (1199) and has far inferior hardware. Every android phone has the language interpreter that Google makes. Samsung has its own version of call screening. Every android phone has live text transcription. I have the s22 ultra and I have it. It's a part of Google messages, not exclusive to the pixel.

The s23u feature packed with a chip tailored for them , better battery, pro mode camera, minimal design, much broader and better eco system to include their s series tablets, and Samsungs laptops, TVs and home appliance. Google has some as well but you can use most if not all of googles home apps on any device. Both are great but one is better to me and that’s the s23u.

I have used all of the semi recents from the Big 3. Pixel 6 Pro, S22U, current iPhone 14 PM. Samsung wins for straight power users and more features, I used the S-pen in the beginning because its apart of the new phone feel but just ended up talking to the phone for note taking or typing. Signing docs was helpful though, there is more but to long for this comment. Pixel is simple and as I get older I like that, you have just enough customization because its Android but not to much to get lost into the OS like Samsung. I still think Pixel is King for Photos and the video upgrade I have being seeing is actually really big. Apple is like the old phones with the dial pad that glow green lol they just work and I have nothing to complain about. However, it is boring and I miss more customization. My pick is the Pixel 8 Pro, I like the upgrades since the Pixel 6. Just my opinion, the S23U wasn't an enticing leap from the S22U, neither was the 15 PM from the 14 PM. Goodbye, iPhone.

Even though Google has 7 years of support I doubt anyone will keep it past 4 years, there might be a few but just sayin. The s24u will be here in Feb so we shall see see. But the s23u is still better in , battery, power and looks more minimalist to me which I like and it has a stronger more preferred eco system for me. I think both are great devices can’t go wrong with either. Also I think the 15pm is the same price as the s23u now. Both are brilliant devices for sure, but for me the S23 Ultra is a performance and power and speed class above the Pixel 8 Pro for sure. To get the best out of the S23 U's cameras you have to really explore it's pro video and Expert Raw camera modes. It REALLY shines and delights here and leads you to discover new capabilities on a regular basis. The Pixels photography is the world's best out of the box and in auto mode. It is a genuine marvel. Both take brilliant video also. The S23 Ultra has the more flexible system, but both Samsung and Google are really closing in now on Apple video qualitywise. In some areas of video like zoom and ultra wide performance, they are ahead of the 15 Pro Max, but until one of them can match the low light noise reduction on the IPhone on it's main lense, it wears the video king crown in my eyes.
The Pixel is not about speed and power, and we all know the 23 Ultra is faster and the gamers choice by some margin, but I have been disappointed by Google refusing to let any Pixel 8 series device download benchmark testing apps like Geekbench or 3d Mark. This only draws people's attention to the Pixel's performance and power and makes this issue bigger than it should be, and this is a shame as I want to focus more on the devices stunning AI capabilities. Some of these need Google Photos or The Cloud to activate or won't work outside the U.S. which is, again, a shame. 23 Ultra for me.

23 utra easy chice , nothing about the pixel 8 pro would make me think otherwise. Samsung knocked the ball out of the park with the 23 ultra. Not that the pixel is bad , just not for me. I feel the same way about the tab s 9 ultra too, love the watch 6 classic ,I think they should do a 50 mm version next year though.

I tried the Pixel 7 Pro and did not care for the interface as well as it was a slower devise than my previous Note 20 , That being said. Yes the Pixel Series is a cleaner Operating system but from what I experienced it is slower and the colors in my opinion were not as sharp. I realize that it is all personal preference and my Preference is SAMSUNG all the way. !!!!!This comment will probably upset some people BUT IT IS ALL PREFERENCE . Like i said i PREFER Samsung.

The Pixel has a very simple and clean UI, so it seems like it must have a huge battery life, but it is strange that the Galaxy, which is heavier and has more features, has a longer battery life.😂

Such a werid/interesting way to go about this video. Comparing a phone with matured software, but questioning if the firmware for pixel 8 pro will mature enough to compete... Really weird. Also you're reviewing cameras and wanting the best foot forward for both, yet you're using an ND filter out in the sun which... Isnt stock, right? Pretty sure none of our smart phones are using integrated ND filters yet.... They definitely should though.
You're getting a more cinematic look because you're able to slow that shutter speed down on the s23. That can also be done on the pixel so this isn't apples to apples.

Seems like this year there is no king - only democracy: 15 Pro Max, 23 Ultra & Pixel 8 Pro, equaly. In one line. Next to each other. Just like brothers and sisters. Beeing loved by their parents. The tech community. For being different but GLORIOUS - each of 'em, in their own way

Pixel 8 Pro battery is absolute TRASH, 12 hrs from 100% to dead is not a flagship phone. My 8 Pro is constantly dimming my screen to 25%, it might have 2400 nits of peak brightness, that's a gimmic, stays there for 30 seconds. On my S23U I don't need to turn up the brightness as much as I do on the 8 pro. It is definitely an interior panel, Samsung makes the panel for the Pixel.
I love the Ai and camera on the Pixel , hate the trash batter.
Watched the Snapdragon event the last couple of days, the Snapdragon 8gen3 and the Snapdragon X elite chip for computers are going to be beasts. Then there will be the S7 Pro chip for audio devices which will incorporate Wifi also with Bluetooth, they will only connect seamlessly with the 8gen3. Sorry Apple, Snapdragon is coming for you.
