Kaleo Manuel, for 5 hrs-held back your water, refusing to release 💧 water into the resiviors so fireman could battle the fire and could have saved so much, including lives, is responsible for this extensive loss. His name is: M. Kaleo Manuel! He is the deputy director of the Department of Land and Natural Resources Commission on Water Resource Management. This "water equity" socialist/ climate change guru deserves to be in jail. Not simply moved to a different dept.
I'm not trying to discredit the egregious lack of action and support from the local government and the gross mishandlingof this whole fiasco. That said, he is DEPUTY director, not director. There are multiple deputy directors, so if you're going to name him, the actual full fledged director and all the other deputy directors should be named, as well. Deputy directors must gain permission from the director in order to call for any action or inaction. They can not just make a phone call and blurt out "do what I say." There's a chain of command. I know we're all incredibly pissed off and it's necessary for someone to pay for this shitshow, and in order to do that, we must keep level heads and stick as close to the facts as we can with the information provided us. We can't just go around screaming blame at everyone. We'll be discredited and laughed off and our cause will suffer because of it. Manuel may very well exist within the bounds of blame in this situation, but he is not at all the only singular person who should be targeted by our disdain and demands for justice in this tragedy.

And the one responsible for holding it back for 5 hours. I wasn't aware there were others in the chain of command. Since the dept. is aware of these accusations; I am hoping it will be addressed publicly. Currently, it hasn't, and he has been moved to another job position in the department. Government didn't cause the hurricane and the wind pushing the fire through old wood buildings is what made this fire unfightable. Anyone staying behind to fight it would likely have been overrun by the inferno. The only thing that would have helped is to cut the power before it happened, and if the power company had done that then people would be complaining about losing the food in their refrigerators. I’m seeing videos on RUclips where survivors stated that all the roads out of Lahaina were blocked. Like WTF? They stated that the only survivors were the ones who went around the police blockades. Many witnesses state this.
Started out with just an single officers directing people to turn instead of going straight and later they had two police cruisers blocking the road out. I would have rammed through before allowing myself to remain trapped.

Not a single a Hotel had roof watering systems or pumps and hoses to fight fire. Swimming pools are a great water source. Saved many homes in Kelowna. It is unbelievable that this started from a tree falling on a power line and starting a grass fire. RIP all those that are lost.

What a scene. 🙏 for Lahaina. And I hate to say it, but the more info and stories and video that comes out suggest the Govt peeps let the Old part of Lahaina burn down, probably for new building opportunities.
I've been on 2 wildfires in Oregon where the fire overtook our fire line but luckily there were big enough ereas where rockslides had happened. My crew and 3 others bailed over the hill onto the rockslide and had about 300 too 600 acres burn all around us. We didn't have any heat get near us and the wind kept most of the smoke away from us. It took about 10 hrs each time for the fire to die down enough for us to leave back to camp. They are in a tight spot there. I'd move the cars closest to them across the street in case buildings caught fire. As long as they stay low they should be ok.I want to know Where's the fucking navy and coast gaurd?It is a scary if you don't know. The governor and local officials should be jailed for this nonsense.
The closest Navy is on another Island 81 miles away ok. The closest Coast Guard is in the middle of Maui at Maalaea and their boat is a patrol boat and holds 6 guys.. no room for passengers. What part of this is an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean don't you get. I lived in Hawaii. Even if the military could get there it would take hours and hours for them to get there with any significant help. What you're seeing in the video was all captured minutes after the fire started.

He asked the lady if she was able to grab anything and she said no. He said then it’s all burned to ashes. If the fire gets closer and burns the houses or buildings closer to them, to run down to the water. He also used a word that’s translates to the effect of don’t be concerned with the loss, as if he’s implying life is more precious than material. That’s from what I can gather.

There were large boats and small boats in the harbor. The large boats could have been moved out to sea and the small boats used to move people from shore to the large boats.
What’s crazy is theses are the burnt out cars so they were minutes from before becoming like those cars and Pershing if they didn’t swim out. A church in Maui is installing emergency temporary housing for those who lost their homes on a vacant lot behind their church, which shows their compassion. But why doesn't Oprah and the other millionaire celebrities open up their property on Maui for temporary housing to provide shelter for the victims?????

I believe that dog survived . I saw a video that the son found the dog , next to his dad , I wish I had taken notes on what video . I sorta have a memory to match things up if I can help .
When I saw the dog I remembered his name is Bacon and son and daughter were desperately searching the next day for Bacon and their stepfather (older gentleman in the video). Sadly the stepdad did not make it. A homeless man had found bacon next to him on those rocks. The dog never left his side. 😢

Government didn't cause the hurricane and the wind pushing the fire through old wood buildings is what made this fire unfightable. Anyone staying behind to fight it would likely have been overrun by the inferno. The only thing that would have helped is to cut the power before it happened, and if the power company had done that then people would be complaining about losing the food in their refrigerators. I’m seeing videos on RUclips where survivors stated that all the roads out of Lahaina were blocked. Like WTF? They stated that the only survivors were the ones who went around the police blockades. Many witnesses state this.

I've been on 2 wildfires in Oregon where the fire overtook our fire line but luckily there were big enough ereas where rockslides had happened. My crew and 3 others bailed over the hill onto the rockslide and had about 300 too 600 acres burn all around us. We didn't have any heat get near us and the wind kept most of the smoke away from us. It took about 10 hrs each time for the fire to die down enough for us to leave back to camp. They are in a tight spot there. I'd move the cars closest to them across the street in case buildings caught fire. As long as they stay low they should be ok.I want to know Where's the fucking navy and coast gaurd?It is a scary if you don't know. The governor and local officials should be jailed for this nonsense.
The closest Navy is on another Island 81 miles away ok. The closest Coast Guard is in the middle of Maui at Maalaea and their boat is a patrol boat and holds 6 guys.. no room for passengers.
What part of this is an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean don't you get. I lived in Hawaii. Even if the military could get there it would take hours and hours for them to get there with any significant help. What you're seeing in the video was all captured minutes after the fire started.

While watching this I had chills, its like an apocolypse scene. I'm In British Columbia Canada, we're on fire too, its very sad to see all this footage of people just watching their homes and entire life burning up as they try to escape with just their lives. Right now the air is filled with so much smoke you can look directly at the sun. The prophecy is happening before our eyes.

For all the people saying that the military couldn't evacuate by sea due to the flames, wind and smoke....I can see CLEARLY ENOUGH far out into the ocean and these survivors on shore. This video shows that.
There were large boats and small boats in the harbor. The large boats could have been moved out to sea and the small boats used to move people from shore to the large boats.
Such a complete state of disappearance. Many of the missing individuals might have turned to ashes, making their discovery exceedingly difficult.
It is amazing that they were doing well with staying calm especially not to upset the babies, children. Makes me cry. 🙏

I believe that dog survived . I saw a video that the son found the dog , next to his dad , I wish I had taken notes on what video . I sorta have a memory to match things up if I can help .
When I saw the dog I remembered his name is Bacon and son and daughter were desperately searching the next day for Bacon and their stepfather (older gentleman in the video). Sadly the stepdad did not make it. A homeless man had found bacon next to him on those rocks. The dog never left his side. 😢

It's like no one on the island knew how bad things were that people were jumping into the ocean to escape the fire. I would have felt so bad not knowing I could have saved or helped people in the water for 5 hours or more.
