F40PH-3C Pair Leads ACE 49ers Special and Caltrain Local 616 at Santa Clara - September 29th, 2024

After taking Caltrain Local service 606 with the new Stadler KISS set for the first time, I happened to do a bit of trainspotting at Santa Clara station for the rest of the morning until I went to Berkeley for the remainder of the afternoon, whilst I shot other trains at this station and Berkeley from this day. Levi Stadium stadium was hosting an event as the San Francisco 49ers were to play against the New England Patriots, so ACE was running a special train from Stockton to San Jose to accommodate passengers travelling to the game. Nice to see two of the remaining F40PH-3C's again on this line, plus the new paint on the coaches and refurbished Cabcar 3302. It will be sad when the last F40's are replaced as ACE is planning to get a few more Chargers as part of their service expansion to Merced. I also included a phone shot of Caltrain Local service 616 as we finished our railfanning here with one of the new trains. These sets can move very quickly for sure.
