Regarding the first woman’s comments about airlines want you to die so you can’t sue: she’s no lawyer. If you are killed in a crash due to airline negligence, your estate can sue. Dying does not invalidate your claim.
Plane Seats: she explained what a plane seat is made of. She claimed that they would not sustain a minor car crash. As a professional car mechanic I can assure you, a car seat is produced the exact same way. A Metal frame, some wires, foam and fabric for comfort and zip ties. And they definetly withstand the forces of a heavy crash! And so do plane seats!
@@ilkeboat78 Where in my comment do you read this? Your reply dosn't make any sense. Watch the clip beginning 5:03. As mentioned, she claims Plane seat woudn't sustain a minor car crash, because of how they are built. I explained how car seats are built which is the exact same way. Car seats withstand heavy forces. They have to be tested and prooved to withstand at least 4 times the maximum force possible to become road legal! And since plane seats are manufactured the same way (according to her words) they can handle the same amount of stress and there are similar regulations and certification processes in place to ensure the safety of these seats as well. I do not like to be made fun of, especially with such a dumb response.
I completely disagree. Airplane seats are made from lighter materials and the frames also reduced in size width to reduce weight even further so it is true that those aren´t made thinking on survival.
@@onedollasnake I agree with your general idea, but this 95% figure must count controlled emergency landings as crashes. If any serious damage is caused to the plane during the landing, chances are all or most people on board are dead
@@georgiykireev9678 There's a few crashes that had 100% deaths... very few... but... most aren't on impact, but because they crashes in a way that prevented rescue from coming quick enough, or prevented the survivors from exiting the plane when it caught fire and burned or suffocated everyone still alive on board. About 10 years ago, when I last checked, the rate was close to 53% deaths from major clashes. Also, in a QI episode they explained how difficult it is to fly a plane even for experienced fliers of non commercial planes. As he explains it, nowadays it seems there are auto landing methods too, so... listen to what he says: Ask the flight attendant to do his or her job, or, if they are too panicked, learn how to operate the radio and call... that's it.
It reminds me of dumb shit like how people believe the government is trying to hide the fact the earth is flat, like first off, which government? Second off, what purpose does that serve? Same people also believe the moon landing is fake, like we just build these vertical explosions for the fucks and sucks, what would the government have to gain from lying about that? Was an old rumor that wrongful death payouts are cheaper than injury suits (which would involve the airline paying for the physical and emotional rehab of all of the people injured). Less idiotic when phrased that way, but yes, still idiotic.
Not sure if you have to sue for wrongful death or injury for airlines to pay for medical/rehabilitation or funeral bills but don't you think they should if it was their fault an injury or de.ath happened? Don't you think they should help with those expenses and be held accountable so it doesn't happen to other people? Suing an airline doesn't sound money hungry and unreasonable in every case to me if that's the only way to do those things
We all know better than to take advice from some random Tik Tokker, but I worry for the kids that may encounter it and take that Tik Tokker’s lies as genuine advice
As a former tow truck driver I can tell you for sure that you do NOT want your knees flying into your face. For some reason teenage girls like to put their feet either on the dashboard or out the window on the outside rearview mirror and when a wreck happens the airbag sends their knees into their teeth at close to 200 mph and as for the ones with their legs out the window, they are usually pulled out from under the dashboard, well except for their right leg which is ripped off and is hanging in a tree somewhere.
I remembered attending a crash where their legs had smashed into their face so hard, the impact had basically shattered their skull so badly the bone shards/teeth in their brain killed them. Broken legs definitely weren't their biggest issue. Seeing shit like that definitely made me more aware of how I hold my steering wheel too, haha. Some of the injuries even from hand vs face were wild. Planes may not have airbags, but the force of a crash impact would likely be just as much or more than an airbag sending your knees straight into your face. Think I'll stick to keeping my head down and away from that sorta danger.
yep and this is the reason big warning signs are present near the front of the car and they said that we should NOT hold a baby while sitting there cause in the event of a crash which deploys the airbags, the baby's gonna be squished
When I was younger I was in a car and had the seat all the way down with no seatbelt (I’d been out drinking and started at 4 PM and passed out around 10 before my now ex woke me up to leave). So I got in the car and immediately went to sleep again, or rather tried. He didn’t get far on the highway before crashing and flipping the car. I was ejected and had severe injuries and only survived because I was minutes from multiple trauma centers. Also, being drunk supposedly helped since I didn’t brace and got tossed like a rag doll. Was in a coma, had massive internal injuries, and severe road rash burns among other things. But yeah, wear your seatbelt and i was lucky enough to be wearing Ugg’s which protected my feet and miraculously survived. So footwear is definitely important as well. I couldn’t even imagine trying to escape a plane crash with flip flops or heels on.
Especially since the family of the deceased can sue to airline for money, and depending on the injuries that happened (how expensive medical care is) that might even be more, plus as far as I know commercial airplanes are actually required to have insurance, including liability insurance, in many countries - so it's unlikely that the airline actually has to pay the majority of that money.
The fact that if it were to come out that this was true the airlines would be sued out the ass and fined out the ass way worse than if you survived a crash and sued them
To say nothing of the hit to reputation that will directly harn their business. If a plane crashes and 50 people get injured not that many will notice. If a plane crashes and 50 people DIE then a lot more pay attention to that headline
What about medical expenses? What if there was maintenance neglect that caused de.aths? Maybe you were referring to right away but at some point I think it's only right for the airline to help with those expenses
Well, if the plane crashes and the only person who gets injured is some person with broken legs because they didn't follow the flight attendants instructions... Who's getting sued?
as an ex-flight attendant, somebody had sent me the first video shown here and asked is this was true, I was like "helllll no", gotta protect your head, highest survivabilty rate. and put your tray table up, unless you want to guillotine yourself
That awkward moment when Weird Al gives better safety advice than people online who are trying to give expert advice on airline safety. Gotta put your tray table up, and your seat back in the full upright position!
It actually happened once in Italy (no one died) but the car driver still managed to write in the accident report that he honked the plane but it didn't stop - ITALIA.
They say that the people that are smartest still view themselves learning students and are not that confident ; as for the people that are not smart are the most confident when it comes to talking…
A flight attendant's "real" job is not to get you snacks. Their job is to ensure you don't die. A family member retired from 40+ years as a flight attendant, and some of the rude ass passengers she had to deal with made my blood boil. Be nice to your flight attendants!!!
It pains me to see people not realise that authorities would already have sued the airlines a hundred times over if they actually tried to hurt the passengers
Thanks to Kelsey, I thank all of the flight attendants as I exit. I also stick my head towards the cockpit as I deplane and thank the pilots, especially if we have turbulent because I love it. Blame smartphones. There's a recent psych study which showed that people with access to a smartphone greatly overestimate their competency in any given subject. The hypothesis is that the brain is incapable of telling the difference between knowledge it contains and knowledge it can access through a smartphone, so people believe they know everything you could find with a Google search -- which is basically all the knowledge known to humanity. This also explains why Zoomers, who have been raised with smartphones, are so utterly certain with their Dunning-Kruger ignorance.

@@lavishdemmybo well it would be strange if a car seat wasn’t better so I don’t know what point you’re trying to make. “They literally want you to die so you can’t sue the airline” If you die your family can sue the airline's anyone can sue the airlines for a deadly crash
Also if the intention is revealed that they want you to die then that will be a huge scandal also researchers will study the best crash positions so if it was bad position and words spreads the company will be even more screwed so that is why logically airlines will not do that also because airlines have enough pressure on them anyway so doing that will make it worse

I hate how all of these people are saying “airlines want you to die”! As a person who has many close relatives working for airlines, that is NOT TRUE. do not believe some tiktoker who has never been through this experience, or never trained for this to happen! Flight attendants train SO HARD and risk their own lives to keep the passengers safe. They are the ones that will help you if anything bad happens to the flight, and they are the ones that will try to keep you all safe. If I was in a life-or-death situation, I’d be listening to the trained experts rather than a random person on the internet tha has no idea what they’re talking about. DO NOT TAKE THEIR ADVICE!
Honestly, no company wants its customers to die. That's completely illogical. If their customers die then they don't have people paying for their service. It's also a public relations nightmare for any company if anyone dies using their services.

Also remember that plane crashes have a 90% survival rate, most people don’t realize this because they think that it’s one of the most dangerous things to happen

@@maxmackinlay618 That's a worthless number. For the altitude one, as someone who has only flown on a plane literally 4 times in my whole life, I immediately recognized how stupid it would be to drop the altitude without knowing what's around you, that is such an easy way to crash into a mountain or another obstacle, especially if it's not convenient blue sunny skies kind of weather. Wild how people peddle this stuff on TikTok like it's fact. 😭
If we construct a hypothetical similar to Helios 522 (one that seems impossible in reality), I wonder what the best course of action is: both pilots are unconscious (suspected hypoxia), you've tried and failed to contact anyone on the radio (so presumably everyone else who knows how to use the radio is unconscious as well or the radio is completely dead), there's no alternative form of communication (e.g. mobile phone/Wi-Fi), you've somehow got into the locked cockpit, AND there's no supplemental oxygen anywhere on the plane (yet apparently you're fine). Do you start a descent to 10,000ft (and be ready to respond to a TCAS or GPWS alert), or is there a better plan I haven't thought of? (I'm not a pilot, so there's a good chance the answer is yes). Staying on autopilot retrying the radio/waiting for someone to contact you is only practical for so long, particularly if there's no oxygen (somehow) so you might pass out as well. Either way, the answer is a pretty long way from "First descend to 4,000ft"!

Also, if you can objectively prove that their methods/teachings are more likely to get people killed than save them and do so by intention, then I am pretty sure that ALONE would be enough to spark investigations and get them into legal troubles without the need of an actual crash having to take place.. in fact, that would be way worse for them and actually cause significant problems.. unlike someone trying to sue over a baseless case of being injured in a plane crash. This girl can't think..
"I used to work for an airspace company where we used to make airplane seats" - In other words, she was a factory floor drone who's job it was to put screws into screw holes, and has never done anything resembling engineering or design.
As an engineer for many years, I can tell you that "factory drones" often know a lot more about the state of the product than engineers. Most products, especially in aerospace, have been designed a very long time ago, and an operator who spends all their time on the floor with the product has indispensable practical knowledge. On a practical note, when a 500mph steel bird crashes into a mountain or the ground, I challenge you to think of safety features for the seat that will protect life other than flame retardation (which seat materials are already certified to).

They bring up how you can sue them for a lot if you survive but if you die, your family can sue them for so much more since they crashed and were purposefully neglectful and were prepared to have you die
“This is America. We like to sue people.” 😂 true, and also wouldn’t airlines have to bear a greater cost had they caused someone to die in a plane crash?
It’s actually the only thing they have sort of right. A dead person is less expensive than one paralyzed or in need of life long care as it has a flat rate determined by earning potential, life expectancy and etc. That said the money they would save in no ways negates the headlines proclaiming their plane crashed and no one survived. In a truly bad crash most people aren’t going to survive regardless of their position as they are on a big metal tube packed with jet fuel smack that into a mountain and survival isn’t very high. The crash position and such are for survivable crashes which I would call very hard landings more than crashes anyways. For those the more people who can walk off the plane unhurt is a major PR boost for an airline that just crashed a plane. Purposely making the plan a death trap as these people claim would mean hard or extremely hard landings would kill or injure more people and like I said full out crahses are going to kill almost everyone anyways so no need to worry about “purposely killing” those passengers they’re dead even if they had personal roll cages. So in short no airlines going to risk turning an accident where everyone emerges unharmed and safe, into death and injury to assure that more serious ones result in death. Especially not when as he pointed out accidents in general are so rare.
No. I don't know where the pilot gets the idea that Families of a deceased member have a higher chance of winning a court case than someone who has themselves been injured and sues for compensation. The pilot is not a lawyer nor a professional in the respective field so I'd ask for the citation of cases that prove his point. But there are none to begin with. It is far worse for a company to have to go to court against people who have been heavily injured by them and can prove that. The fees can go into the millions and cannot be contested that easily: in the case of family members they have better chances of denying compensations, it does happen and it can get ugly.
@@a-sheep-of-christ he never said they do only that you dying doesn’t magically keep the airline from being sued the way the Tik tok girl made it seem. They are getting sued and if they are found at fault they will lose wether you live or die. The question is the amount it costs them and in that alone she’s right it’s cheeper for them if you die because that has a defined worth based on actuaries where are a lifetime of medical bills doesn’t. The issue there though is that very few crashes fall into hard enough to permanently injure but not kill you zone. Most are either so bad no one was surviving it anyways or a few whole are injured but most are fine. Purposely having procedures that will lead to death in the first group will insure that more are injured or killed in the second group. Since the second group is more common than the first and the odds of survival in the first group are so low anyways that doesn’t even make fiscal sense even if you believe that they could be that heartless and the governments would all let them be that heartless. That’s the biggest issue with that argument it starts with an actual fact that dead passengers are less costly than life long injured passengers but it ignores the fact that most crashes are either unsurvivable or so minor that with proper procedures no one is killed or hurt that purposely making them less dangerous crash more dangerous is counterproductive. That’s not even getting into the bad PR a high death toll crash brings with it. Ask yourself this question would you rather have one crash where no one died but half the passengers were permanently disabled or ten crashes where a quarter of the passengers are killed and only a couple are disabled? The payout might be lower in the second scenario but you have to make it far more frequently because in the Tik Tok scenario you are purposely killing people that likely wouldn’t even be injured in most plane crashes. That doesn’t even get into all the pints he made about why sticking the most important and least protected part of your body straight up into the danger. We assume the fetal position when injured for a very good reason it protects our most vital parts most effectively.
This dude is the only guy in his mid 20-30s that makes content that’s really interesting, besides the people spending 100,000 dollars in a video. Keep this up!
"They literally want you to die so that you can't sue them." If more people die in a plane crash, then there will always be mass hysteria about the airline and future passengers will start canceling their tickets with that particular airline, their reputation will fall, may be even their stock price, and there is a high chance chance that the company might go bankrupt, and I am pretty sure no airlines want that. So, they actually want to save as many people as they can.
Also is it true that the company gets sued for more money if the passenger is dead or id it the same if the passenger where to still be alive? (Sorry for the bad english)
Not only that, but if they do an investigation and find that seat construction or flight crew instructions were a contributing factor to somebody dying rather than surviving, it's gonna be really bad for the airline

Exactly cos sometimes you can find car seats in debris field

Not to mention that suing for injuries is almost always less than suing for wrongful death
The fact that if it were to come out that this was true the airlines would be sued out the ass and fined out the ass way worse than if you survived a crash and sued them

Yeah. A friend's granddaughter was still strapped in next to a nurse as part of two seats bolted together. They were the only two people to survive an incident with a 737 missing the runway in fog and attempting a go-around. The aircraft broke up as it pancaked the ground.

*After hearing that the therapist finally let me die*
The therapist : You know, suicide might be a good career path for you.
They bring up how you can sue them for a lot if you survive but if you die, your family can sue them for so much more since they crashed and were purposefully neglectful and were prepared to have you die
They have no idea how lawsuit works. Loss of life gonna make worse lawsuit than just injuries.
No fuckin airlines wants you to die, it's like suicide to their entire company reputation
“This is America. We like to sue people.” 😂 true, and also wouldn’t airlines have to bear a greater cost had they caused someone to die in a plane crash?
Alive != Uninjured
