Finally, an expansion pack that looks like an expansion pack. I'm excited for it.
I think it's cool! Actually, I listened to this on my way home from work, so I didn't get to see ANY footage. I saw the trailer yesterday, but I didn't bother reading the blog post. And it looks like I missed a lot!
Genuine curiosity about the new death/s.
Mermaids being the only one without a skill tree is still insane but ill hold back the punches
And aliens, poor aliens
(sorry in advance for the yapping) Alien and mermaid skill trees & lore (i.e. werewolves) are like, my biggest wish. They already kind of have powers, we could so expand this into something really fun and intricate. I would also love to see special 'realms' for them, like the magic realm ("ermm sixam-" IM GETTING TO THAT)
We already have sixam - non-aliens have to build a rocket ship to get there, but maybe alien sims could have something like the glimmerstone where it's like a portable spacecraft or teleporter that allows them to travel there in their inventory. I'm picturing that sixam wouldn't just be its own world, it'd be its own PLANET, with multiple worlds. Like it has its own special manage worlds screen where you can travel to different parts of the planet - maybe one is like Alien San Myshuno, it's like a big downtown sci-fi world with spacecraft in the skies and jetsons-esque architecture. One is more mystical (like current sixam) where you can find more collectibles and unique alien flora, etc. Stuff like that. It would be more sophisticated than any other occult realm since, well, it's not a realm it's a whole other PLANET. Being from ANOTHER PLANET is the whole point of aliens! Sixam should be way cooler than it is.
Something similar for mermaids, but it's an entirely underwater ocean world. The option to get there when clicking on the ocean in Sulani would be automatically unlocked for mermaids, but for non-mermaids I think perhaps the steps would be a tiny bit more complicated - you have to learn about it from a mermaid, then have to purchase some fancy diving gear (probably from the buoy). This ocean world would probably just be The Magic Realm But For Mermaids, where you could speak with experienced/powerful mermaids (like the sages from RoM) or get access to mermaid-related items to build your skills without having to buy them (like cauldrons from RoM). Although building underwater would be so sick.
To be honest, this is why I don't like them adding occults as side-features in expansion packs - since the pack isn't about them, they aren't allowed to live up to their full potential. I know they probably won't do pack refreshes again, especially not for these guys, so what we'd probably end up getting would be like- DLC for our DLC again 😭

I mean ghosts seem to be getting a skill tree in this pack, and the recent pack survey talked about an under water ocean world as something they considered, so I do hope they will consider refreshing mermaids (and aliens for that matter) in the future. Especially now that they announced that there won't be a Sims 5 for quite some time, so they can focus more on 4. Fingers crossed

True! The last time I feel this excited was probably when Growing Together got announced. Even For Rent (which features southeast asian culture, the area I’m from) doesn’t hit this hard feature-wise

@@onlyabidoangme too! I'm Malaysian and For Rent trailer kind of excited me bc of Southeast Asian based world, but honestly it's quite meh😅😅. But this one literally interests me A LOT, as someone who play save file with aging off most of the time, this makes me want to continue my legacy gameplay! I usually will look for bb and cas style everytime when there's new pack, but nor this one, bc the gameplay is much more interesting and exciting
Finally, The only expansion (as of now) that lets you play as the fucking grim reapear without cheats, mods, hacks, cc, etc.

Curiosity in Brazil this expansion received the name "Pé na cova" ( foot in the grave) It's an expression for someone who is dying and also the name of a forgotten comedy series about a funeral home hahaha
To have one foot in the grave is also an idiom in English. Example: "King Charles is probably not going to be king for long, he practically has one foot in the grave... and his other foot... he's like 9/10 in the grave."

An actress from that comedy show had a very advanced breast cancer while filming. She truely had the foot in the grave, and died while the show was still running. Marília Pera made us laugh till the end.

What's most exciting about the ghost skill trees is that we already have like 4 ways to become a temporarily ghost in the game already so you can switch in and out of ghost form at will. LIKE DANNY PHANTOM 👻

I am surprised you did not seem to hope for the hula dancers return, maybe when you get employee of the month, considering how much you seemed to miss the other dancers.
New occult gameplay with a good morbid/goth flair, yeah I'm interested. Knowing me I'll probably make the new neighborhood my main world. I'll also love the Tarot cards because I collect decks IRL.
I recommend the cat tarot. It's my favourite, lol.
Finally my type of Expansion Pack, I love the new world, features and everything about it. Reminds me of Dragon Valley from the Sims 3
This pack reminds me more of Growing Together than My Wedding Stories so I'm hoping it takes a similar route. I'm happy that we are finally getting graveyards and reincarnation bit looks really interesting. Seeing as Ghost are getting a mini refresh I hope at so point they do the same to mermaids and aliens (mermaids are also the only occult that don't have a special tombstone) but I'll keep my hopes low
Yeah it feels like a mixture with a little bit of paranormal added into it.
I'm a Romanian who lived most of my life in Romania and I genuinely couldn't tell the world was inspired by my country. I don't mean that in a negative way, and I couldn't care less about representation or whatever, but there's nothing in the trailer that made me think think of it. The head carved into the mountain made me think of Mount Rushmore, so my mind wasn't even going to Europe. Looking at it with this information in mind, it still doesn't feel in any way Romanian, but the buildings do look "medieval Central Europe". Frankly, it looks more like the Cech Republic (specifically Prague) than Romania.
Again, I don't mean this as a negative critique towards the Sims team, more of an informative comment for people who've never been to Romania and would otherwise believe the country is like that.

@@Josh-vc2ul I think the castles are supposed to look Romanian, but unfortunately Germany, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Hungary, Belgium also have the exact style of castles, so it's not unique to just one country.
i don’t think this sounds negative, it’s just honest lol. and i love hearing from someone that’s actually from the place they’re trying to emulate.
i’ve noticed similar about ciudad enamorada… it seems like a mix of things. and the sims tends to make it “vaguely” recognizable… i think this is to maintain the immersion of playing in a fantasy world. yk? they want realistic but not TOO realistic… still this kind of thing can get really silly, like reading your comment made me laugh LOOOOL!!
It’s honestly so sad that the sims community is so toxic that you have to repeatedly say that you don’t mean the sims team absolutely failing to display your home region correctly is not negative critique, you should absolutely be free to say that.
I saw someone actually said that it's based on Transylvania of Romania, and the architecture is based on Romanian Revival style. The castle overlooking the Crow's Crossing is based on Corvin Castle, prominent building is based on Cantacuzino Castle, and the carved face scene is base on rock sculpture of Decebalus. But it's not officially confirmed, just assumptions
This pack looks really good in my opinion. If it works and doesnt bring a ton of bugs or lag, I am more excited about this then anything in the last 18 months. Pretty excited. Thank you for the video about it.

I'm interested how long you can play one non-occult sim for. Can you just keep bringing them back indefinitely? What happens if they end up in a relationship with a close relative of your past self? If traits, milestones and perhaps some relationships can survive death and rebirth, can you gain all skills without having ever to use a potion of youth? There's a lot of potential with this pack. I also want to see if you can make $$ with the tarot card reading. If you can do that you can combine it with the Paranormal career and have a really rounded medium skill set which you could base your sim story around.

3:30 I'm gonna need EA to figure out how to clean up the simology panel into something more user-friendly before adding anything else to it. I hate havng to scroll through like 50 pages just to see all of the aspects of my sims' personality

Thanks for a very in-depth overview of this upcoming pack. It looks really good with a lot of features to explore. I can't wait to get this pack. I just hope it doesn't have too many glitches.
I always wish they'd make an expansion on going into the future or past as a reference to into the future Sims 3, sign. Only can dream.
Holy crap this pack sounds brilliant! I love how much detail they've put into the wills, the funerals, that there are two careers, and I love that we get a Netherworld with Grim's house and that swamp! Cool!

Can a sim become a ghost and still be a spellcaster?
That’s actually a pretty good question, considering that spellcasters can still become ghost and both will have their own skill tree now. If I have to guess, the skill tree menu would be separated so it won’t overlap each other
@@Chaparro585 i believe there is a potion that can turn a sim into a ghost if I'm not mistaken
All Occult sims may become ghosts and as it stands now, they maintain their powers (I.E Werewolf Ghosts may transform, Howl, Collect relics by digging, etc, Vampires may influence the emotions of nearby sims, may unlock doors at other sim's properties, and Spellcasters can cast spells, I am sure Mermaids and Aliens are similarly able to use their powers), if this pack gives Ghosts a Talent Tree, then they NEED to make Hybrids official. it will not do to "Cure" a Sim of their other Occult(s)
It will probably glitch when it first comes out, and then they will have to fix it in an update lol 🤣

Maybe they didn't want to do another world based on a Spanish-speaking country so soon after Love Stuck. Also we already have a Louisiana inspired world with Willow Creek.

I think the new possible deaths are:
Death by Crow Attack (similar to Death by Chicken and Rabbit Attack)
Death by Old Age (alt) (this one may be exclusive to Elders only, if their age bar glows and if they get the "Elderly Demise" action while sleeping, theyll die in their sleep instead of getting up to die)
im to happy about the recarnation system and remembering past lives as well as the new reaping job. i cant wait.

Leaving money for people after death sounds like a good insurance scam you can perform to make other sims rich. Just revive your high level sim and sell one outfit for max money and you’re good to do it again.

Definitely agree with the Sim description bar should add some more U.I to the game, maybe actually add a character sheet per Sim cos the H.U.D laggs so much when you click on anything especially those on PS4 running most of the DLC.
I am excited about this pack! It looks like a real in depth Maxis pack which we haven't had in a long time. The level of detail, quirkiness and passion is what I love about Maxis games ever since their inception in 1987. I feel like that passion has been lost and choked to death in The Sims 4...but this looks like a good old Maxis pack. I am also excited about this pack in particular because it seems like it wasn't a rush job like the rest of them. They hinted at this pack like what? 3 years ago in 2021? So it seems they have been working on this one for a LONG time, which is great! Makes me more excited that it will be a Maxis quality content finally instead of an EA sabotaged one.

Back in my day, the Sims 4 notification queue used to never get full bc older messages got automatically deleted...one of the many bugs that appeared one day that they just don't care enough to fix. Wish they would though!
If the Simology Panel is too crowded for you, you can collapse the different sections you're not using by clicking the green title bars. Works the same way as the collections.

This is the Dlc we shoud have gotten back in the old days, not some shitty buggy dinner out parody.
I was more excited about the Undertaker career, but I'm disappointed that it isn't an active career. I also dislike the new grief types because I'm already tired of my Sims being in a bad mood and too sad to do anything.

i don't think we need new worlds. i think they can upgrade existing ones instead and actually give more things to do in the old sub-neighborhoods besides jungle gyms and roller rinks
I kind of agree. I'm getting overwhelmed by the constant new worlds, myself. But it would be hard to fit new things in the existing worlds since they are so small. Plus, expansions have always come with new worlds, and I think a lot of fans may be upset if EA decided to change that.
This has the potential to either be really interesting or not fit into my gameplay at all lol. I wonder if vampires are affected in any way since they would kinda fit the theme
I think it would be amazing if sims would be able to be reborn as vampires if they do certain objective or something.
I just hope it has some cross-pack features with other things like the supernatural,ESPECIALLY vampires and realm of magic.
I remwber during the competition for a new pack the knitting one won and this got second place. I was so annoyed because this seemed so much better but maybe the time gave them the ability to add more.

*Dangerously* optimistic for this, especially the ghost gameplay and themes. I really love themings of death like this, and for some reason the portrayal of it reminds me a bit of Beetlejuice, which is an even bigger plus. I’m just scared it will be, yknow, like most of the other packs.
I have a theory that simpler funerals will be in the base game because one of the rewards from the Grim Reaper's event is a casket
Graveyard as a Lot Type? Who needs that if you can play a insane Person with lots of Graves in the Basement?🤪
It could be cool though if you could combine that with a Home. Second Floor is all the Living Stuff and Ground Floor would be where your Sim works

I'm guessing the Sims team don't bring back zombies is the Possessed in Strangeville Pack kind of fulfill that role.
I never really cared for zombies anyway, I hated having them randomly roam around my house, so not including them works for me

Kinda random but I have a few saves about triplets watching someone die from pufferfish as toddlers. They become convinced that the grim reaper is thier best friends so they start m*rdering people just to see him again.
They're toddlers so they don't quite understand the permanence of death. They aren't evil or even that cruel. Not in the beginning. Its just that, in their obsessive minds, all they had to do remove the pool ladder and the fun magic man will arrive.
So the family takes the m*rder toddlers to a Sulani island in the middle of nowhere. No one can find out what the triplets have done so they keep them isolated on the islands. But on the island, the sheltered triplets only have themselves and sulani spirits. Maybe some psycic powers or witchcraft depending on the save.
But the triplets still never truly grasp the seriousness of taking lives. Besides, they've seen ghosts, been psychic, etc. Getting m*rdered is a slight inconvenience. So they grow more sociopsathic. The m*rders become games.
The family is wealthy. But only the first round of gardeners passed with dignity. The rest...it was a spectacle. The parents realize that now they should be protecting the world from thier kids. Not the other way around.
After that, the family downsized & went off grid. The only way on & off the island is a steel bridge that has to be lowered. Only one person has a key. Thier uncle. He lowers it every other day. But once the family gets produce & power. The bridge is never lowered again
The parents go to extremes to shield them from consequences even if it meant never leaving the island ever again.
Now, im thinking 🧐 about an escape from the island to become real grim reapers too

The fact that there’s no zombies doesn’t surprise me. The Occults in the sims 4 feel lacking.

It would be cool if there was a way to play Ouija boards in the game, but not in the same way they communicate with the dead in that stuff pack (I dont remember the name), I wanted to be something more "scary"

This should all have been part of the Paranormal pack. I'm so sick of EA splitting up every aspect of the game into a million expansions, but people keep buying them.
dude i'm romanian and i never thought they'd ever do a thing based on it i am actually so excited :DDDD, honestly from the promo the architecture is pretty accurate to more rural areas, like rich ppl rural houses. a bit sad that i don't see any traditional romanian stuff and it's basically a very watered-down generic europe romania but ILL TAKE IT we don't have any non vampire representation in video games (yk the situation is bad if you're excited for an expansion that is completely inaccurate to your home region).
going a bit into depth, the romanian aspect is extremely surface level, the theme is lovely, at least to me personally but they could've done so much more honestly, in the ravenwood (come on not even a romanian sounding name? :/) there could've been a special colorful cemetery inspired by the real life "Cheerful Cemetery" in the region of Maramures, which is a cemetary with colorful graves that were painted with traditional romanian motifs as well as little paintings with an amusing message on them, trying to make death a little less sad yk
the mountains with the face? um that's not a thing here, romania has beautiful forested mountains with coniferous trees and lots of wildlife, especially bears, it's literally infamous how wild bears stay on roads here and beg for food (if you come here pls dont try to befriend the bears they will maul you)
i was also hoping for some brutalist apartment buildings since it's a very prominent theme in our cities, even rural ones, during the communist regimes they wanted to "modernise" the cities by building like 1 or 2 tiny apartment complexes, currently most of those are in disrepair but the major cities have restored those brutalist architecture and made them more colorful.
some old brancovenesc architecture would've been lovely too, basically there was this ruler (voievod we call em) who had a very specific style of architecture for the buildings in like 1700s notably old town centres, churches and certain castles, it's like some wood, yellowish stone and pillars, sort of like what if gothic architecture met rustic architecture, it's specific to south romania.
another option would've been to add the Calusari dance, which is a traditional dance that is performed 50 days after easter, even the x-files added that in their series, even tho it has nothing to do with paranormal but it was still pretty cool to see, that being said, there can/could've been some sort of event where traditional romanian dances would be performed, like festival of snow or something idk JUST SOMETHING
and i really hope that they're going to add some traditional romanian food like Sarmale or Mititei or Papanasi, ok they're a bit more balkan in general these foods but they're very much something that is apart of our culture, maybe they will add but idk
tl;dr they didnt do their homework, a lot of missed opportunities imo and it looks more like britain than romania ngl, they can easily replace that comment with any generic western european country and it's all the same, im excited and also disappointed that my home region, the one i lived all my life in and was only dreaming to see represented in a game, especially the sims 4 cos you know i'll be playing in that region a lot, isn't properly represented and it's a blend of multiple central and western europe with barely anything resembling romania, i still am excited because holy frick my country will be in the game but also yeah, idk if anyone will read this comment but ill just leave it here
It is supposed to be "based on" which in sims speak means it won't be accurate and kind of made a mishmash on purpose to give it a "feel"

God I’m excited, but this also makes quite a few mods and cc obsolete now :( does it bug anyone else when there’s been a particular mod for years that does something the game can’t and then suddenly out of the blue EA finally gives it to us? Bunkbeds are the first that come to mind, I’ll never forget how RVSN was there for us in our time of need 😭

I just pre-ordered this EP on Steam and I found out the name of Specter family in the description, yay! I hope it will be playable family (one of my best families from the Sims 2).

This is making me think there’s too many ways to summon Grim now haha, you’ve the gramophone in the weekly missions and the crystals and this will probs as some and then coming back you’ve got the book and the crystals the potions the spells and ambrosia and this will add stuff :/
