I beat that washer/pulley up today. I only had a three-way puller and it was too big to pull it! I mean, it’s fine and I had to leave the old cowl on. Yours came right up. I have to get a little two-way jaw now. Thanks for the video.
Excellent video! Just finished my e60. Had to get a wiper arm puller from northern tool for the extra piece on the driver side but it was only $15 and my wife’s 428i will probably need this too. THANKS! And btw, the jerkoff who commented that this video was useless is indeed an idiot.
Fantastic video. Despite having a good amount of experience working on my E60, it's always great to see someone else do it before I dive in! Kicking myself for not changing the cowl when I changed my E60's valve cover. Or when I changed the starter.
Ben Shirey Right on!! I remember the valve cover change at 62k then the starter went out 2 weeks later fun fun fun! You gotta love that German engineering. I still have my e60 she now has 73k I don’t use her much. Any questions feel free to ask
HotRodEric I’ve got 140k miles on mine and it’s still purring like a champ! When I bought it, previous owner had cut a lot of corners on maintenance, but I’ve been able to bring it back to life!
@@hotroderic8318 I flashed mhd stage one after getting my downpipes on and I’m now getting a misfire in cylinder 6 I just changed my injectors , coils, and plugs about 10k miles ago … thoughts?
When mounting the super arms back video jumps the Bolt tightening process. Did you have to do something in particular to put the arms back in Place or Just tightening and pressing ? Torque 35NM for both ?
Thank you for the video, super well explained, step by step , NEW SUBSCRIBER , Could you tell me by your knowledge My is dry almost like yours, BUT I HAVE SOME WATER IN THE CARPET, is not the sunroof, Do you think is the cowl (these piece ) that make my carpet wet when rain hard Thank you in advance
Thanks for the video. Is the cowl cover purely a cosmetic fix? Is there any other issues that develop from not replacing this part? I recently replaced my windshield on my E60 and ran into a whistling noise at high speed and ran into this video.
Good video....my problem is that now my wipers are not cycling to a stop position at bottom of the windshield. They will stop halfway. I followed your video to a T and placed the wiper arms in the same position they came off. Any idea why this is happening? Any suggestion on how to fix it?
My ‘08 550i did that back when it was under warranty and the dealer fixed it. I think it was more of a wiper motor issue. I’m pretty sure it was fairly common issue. I was concerned after reading your comment that it might happen when I did this replacement but I made sure everything was aligned back the way he showed it and mine works fine.
Why is this being replaced? The windscreen goes very deep down and water would run into bins anyway. If the drain is blocked or firewall seals are broken then water could seep into the car. But otherwise this is cosmetic and will it prevent water ingress or not?? Mine looks fine. Surely a small bead of clear silicone would be better seal than a plastic covering with a gap water can easily seep under. If air can get thru so can water.
Is this a good time to do your spark plugs at the same time? I need to replace them anyway, it's been 4 years but low mileage and would like to check them and change them while changing the cowl.
Ronny Lambotte actually this would be a perfect time if your in need of replacing them usually around 60,000 miles or if the gap is beyond what is the specified by the vehicle manufacturer. I even would consider new ignition coils if it’s in your budget. I replace all 6 on my 2010 528i at 63k ..now I have 73k. They will go out spontaneously and cause an engine misfire on any cylinder usually replacing one will only allow for the next old one to go some time soon. Good luck!! Any questions give me a holler.
BMW plastic nut....part # 51-71-110-861-BOE. Around the size of a quarter and inside diameter I’m not sure but probably around an 1/8= 3.18mm. Hope this helps.

Finally an exact step by step run through on how to install a cowl cover. Great video!!

And just like that... One of the best DYI videos I've seen in a while... Thank you 👍
Great show 👏.
I just did this on my wife's 2010 535i. All went well. Repainted the windshield wiper arms while they were off.

Hello Hot Rod and thank you for being so thorough in the replacement of the cowl. Excellent video.
I'm a bit late to the party... But much appreciated the tutorial on this. Perfect step by step... Thank you!!!
Hey man. Finished the front tonight. Minor difference with my 550 but not much. Just a couple extra screws. Thanks!
I wanna change mine on my 550. What's the difference
Honestly don’t remember where the additional screws were…but it was super easy. Took me less than an hour, if I recall correctly.

Did u fix your problem?

Do you have a link to the bolts that go to that piece? Mine are missing
Hot RodEric, Youre in Florida eh???

i realy thought he was going to put the wiper arms back on with a hammer ,the man is a beast and a puller ,just use a screw driver .
Amazing job. 🇧🇷
More e60 videos please!

You can find them online at Pelican Parts..... good luck!
What’s the name of that puller tool?
It’s a Husky brand from Home Depot store... 4’’ inch(100mm) two prong puller. I hope this helps .
Just like that count
Awesome!!!
👌👍
Thank You!!!
Replace this if it’s damaged ! Water leaked into my car and caused 2500 worth of damages
Ahhh Just like that…😂
You don't even show you taking the motor on off or put it in the back on
The video wasn't showing you how to replace the motor. It was showing you how to replace the covering.
@@davebeat hilarious
@@davebeat useless then
