Bought the Trustfire MC1 couple years ago and still use it every day. A true underdog that is highly underrated imo. Less than half the price of the olight baton III and very robust. Dropped it loads of times but just keeps chugging along. Nice uniform light as well, even more uniform than the olight baton TWO, though cannot speak of this gen three. It has all the bells and whistles the olight has too, like magnetic tail and magnetic charging. Same power in terms of lumens as the baton two, same size and even a tad lighter at 49 grams. Also, the olight two used to drop from turbo into lower mode after just a minute or so, while the mc1 burns at least a couple minutes b4 dropping down.
I have Baton 3 and I absolutely love this thing! You can see and feel the premium this light comes with. If you can get behind the cost which can be a bit more than some other similar lights this size on market, you set yourself up for proper edc light without disappointment at all. Everything feels so great about it. Ps: moonlight mode is awesome and there's so many situations where it's just "perfect"
Did your charging bank quit working yet mine did not even a year old and the color i got was a charity event so I can't even get another blue box i have to get black
@@brandonpausta2206 I checked my manual and the "WARRANTY *** Baton 3 Wireless Charger: Two Years." So I would contact customer service and request a replacement. Mine have been fine although I did get a charging case on which one of the indicator lights did not function properly. IIRC I took a short video showing this. They replaced it and they have all been working fine since then. Perhaps I should note that despite the malfunctioning indicator light, the charging case would actually work.
This light is perfect for camping…Can recharge it in its case and perfect as a headlamp on my hat, magnet works on my canopy and moonlight perfect for inside the tent.
Great video. Moonlight mode should be on every light. It's nice to not ruin your night vision and just be able to navigate indoors safely. Once you're outside, you can turn the flashlight up a little to see further.
I wish all substantial (bigger than keychain) lights had programmable lumen outputs. I want at least a solid low with my first press; otherwise it's a superfluous click imo.
The largest Achilles heel of this setup is that the charging case has no way to charge other devices (e.g.; phone) in a pinch. That ability would up it's edc practicality significantly, as it would allow the 'going-minimal' option of leaving the dedicated powerbank brick at home on shorter jaunts.
I think if that was to be added. Personally I would prefer a 5kmah battery either a replaceable 21700 or even a li-po. Yes larger size but in an esc role that that it may not be so bad
@@floppinfish Yes, C to C charging for the charging case itself works. I just plugged it in, after reading your question, and the red charging light comes on. A good question as I have had this issue with some other devices that want USB A to C, but will not work with USB C to USB C. The Olight O'Pen2 will also work USB C to USB C and it has a very small battery, so obviously the ability is a design/firmware issue which can be handled. The Olight Gober emergency light/flasher will not work USB C to USB C, it requires USB A to USB C.
I enjoyed the review. You mentioned the medium 60 level lasting for 7.5 hours which would be a good level if one had a long hike at night. I just thought I would point out that if the light was not fully charged or the hike was longer than that, one could continue with the Baton 3 in the case, as it will stay lit. In other words pass through charging works. That also works with higher levels too, but I think it is better to be careful. It is only recently that the Baton 3 was used less for my EDC as I have been carrying the Olight Perun 2 mini neutral white right angle light/headlamp [1.9 oz w battery]. One thing that makes the Perun 2 mini NW such an excellent EDC, besides its usefulness in sitting it around as a light, is that one does not have to remove the clip to use it in the headband [1.2 oz] as a headlamp. I use the timer function on both of these flashlights. I am hoping that Olight will produce a charging case for the Perun 2 mini, that will also accommodate the Baton 3, and act as a powerbank. That would be a lot more convenient than using the Baton 3 and its charging case to charge the battery and then switch batteries. Plus the powerbank feature, as another commented desired, would make it a must carry.

I just got mine. I love everything about it. The moonlight mode is my favorite. I go camping a lot. And need just a little light to read a book in my tent. My other head lamps that I use are way to bright. Even with the red light on my head lamp. This baton 3 at 1/2 lumen. Is going to be perfect. But still has the brighter settings if I need them.

I just purchased this combo in the U.S. on "Black Friday" sale, for 65.99, just like getting the charging case for me. The only negative I can think of is.........It would have been nice if they had included a pouch with a belt loop to fit the charging case. As is, it's too big to go comfortably in your pocket. I don't know how often you would possibly need it all, but I'm the kind of person, if it has the charger, I want it with me. It shouldn't be hard to find a codura case with a belt loop though.. Very nice review. I was lucky enough to win a Baton 3 in blue when Olight Germany did sort of a giveaway on RUclips. I used an SR2 Baton 2 before in my nightshifts as a nurse and now I use the Baton 3 for both private and work use mostly. The magnetic bottom is great to put it on metal parts of a bed and let it shine to the ceiling so I don't need to turn on the big lights and got my hands free. I must say it looks quite handsome as a Bi-Colored Gentleman's pocket knife & I carry it either in an artificial leather pocket slip or in the ticket/coin pocket of my Jeans.

I much prefer the "pyramid texture" on the Baton II.. can this Baton 3 accept the bottom pyramid tail cap of the Baton II ? I don't like the texture & missing lanyard hole on the Baton 3. Hoping they are interchangeable! Thanks for the in depth review!
Hi. Many thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I don't own the Baton II so I can't do a side by side comparison I'm afraid. I think it might be hard to justify a change form the Baton II if it is working fine though.
@@JonGadget Hmm. Well thanks for your input. I might hold off for now. My Baton II works fine for now & I love the pyramid grip. The premium charger is tempting though!
I've seen comparisons between the two...and most have said, if you have the two, you would get a very little upgrade getting the II1, but combo wise it's just too tempting. I believe they offer the charger for sale separately though... I think I like the II better because I believe the high on it, not turbo mode, just high is 600 lumens, and the III is only 300....
It worked on the bill of my cap just fine a couple of times I tried it. Never went jogging with it though. All I can say is that it worked using it as an improvised headlamp while walking around my yard at night, allowing me to avoid spider webs and such. I have a lot of headlamps so I do not normally use it that way, but I like having the option and it has worked well when I have used it. It is also very comfortable to use it that way. I have tried larger models which also work on the bill of a cap, but they are not as comfortable. As for use on hats which are more protective, they do not generally have a stiff bill like a cap and I have not yet experimented on trying to get that to work.
Impressive 1200 lumen. I have the RovyVon A8X with 650 lumen which drops full brightness fairly quickly and the metal rim gets very hot. I used the clip to fix the RovyVon to my shirt pocket and wore a jacket and lost it some how and never found it. So now I do not use the clip except when the torch is on and fix it clothes or a strap to view what I am doing. The only downside of the RovyVon is that it does not have focus ring and is "wide" beam all the time.
I'm not sure i understand the logic behind the charging case when they could simply increase the size of the battery/flashlight cutting out the need for it entirely.
Baton3 is short but FAT its not good in the pocket if u wear a tight jeans. The case is even more FAT it would occupy the whole jeans pocket. I think i will just carry my Sofirn SC32 its battery is 3500 mah & is much brighter w/ a tailcap switch plus the size is just right for the hand & can also be clipped on a hat & alot cheaper. 😊

Olight is overpriced and underpowered. The Lumintop FW3A and Noctigon KR4 are much better for less. Olight is fixated on marketing and flooding the market with youtubers that will do reviews for them.
Hi GatCat, thank you for your feedback. The two flashlights you mention use 18650 batteries and are much larger and cannot really be compared like-4-like. A value for money review is probably what you are looking for. Fixated or focussed? I agree Olight are putting effort into RUclips marketing. I would also argue they have confidence in their products if they are keen to push them out out for review. They did not influence my review and I choose what flashlights I review from them.

It seemed OK but I've not tried it in anger - Nitecore T4 holds very well though!
Never saw the point in the case, as I've been charge packs on all Batons.
Can you use baton 3 charging case to charge baton 2 light?
i wish olight would give one of those to me.
😁
Yesss new upload!
Is the plight Batton 2 any gd for cheaper options
I would say so, still a great light
what watch are you wearing? do a review on it!
Ha! Bluedot is a science and music festival in the UK - actually it's back this year - check it out 👍
Impressive 1200 lumen.
Just like Olight there junk
I am a fan of the A8x - size and functionality is perfect for my edc and U use it everyday - I ditched the clip day one for keysmart pocket hanger
Can i change batery in charging case?
1:00
There’s also a limited-edition BLUE.
Thanks for info. I never saw that one 👍

Also, Olight calls your version “purple gradient”. 😉👍🏼
@@allemander I used ‘graduated’ I think when I probably should have said gradient 🤔
Nice ❤
Is thrunite t1 any gd
It looks good on paper but I have not tested it
I just ordered one, case included for £65. Flash sale apparently
That is a great deal 👍
I'm not sure i understand the logic behind the charging case when they could simply increase the size of the battery/flashlight cutting out the need for it entirely.
Can you charge without the case
Yes if you have a MCC charging cord or the Olight Oport.
Wurkkos TS10 is alot more practical if u want to save money 💰
Just curious. Did you buy the Olight, or were you given it for free?
As mentioned in the video it was supplied on request for the purposes of a review.
@@JonGadget Understood. A freebie. Thumbs down.
@@nathanshiba6866 I can see you didn't watch the video otherwise you would have known, as it was clearly stated - so out of interest why the 'thumbs down'?
@@nathanshiba6866 his review is hardly biased is it?
great video. anyone have a blue/purple one like this they want to sell? lmk
Never seen the sense in the charging case...... Its wayyyyy cheaper buying a backup battery.
Great video.
Mr.John get two asks:
1-Do you know4 brands on torches: Maglite, Ledlenser,Coast, Nebo Tools?
2-What is your opinion upon light and zoom on Olight?
Lord bless you and family.
Many thanks for attention.
Hi. I don’t know Coast. I do like Olight 👍
94 battery life with moonlight mode? 🙄 that’s barely anything
